8 Games That Deserve a Modern Remake

Jo from GamersFTW writes: 'Do you ever sit with a group of friends and reminisce about games you used to play when you were younger? The same titles always come up in the conversation. You talk about those first games that got you interested and sucked you into the world of consoles, those games that once played, you never looked back.'

Nice list! I am missing Crash, DK Racing and Disney games.

Yukes3914d ago

Missing the enchanting music and vibrant visuals of Disney games completely at odds with the punishing difficulty? :)

I'm so surprised that no one has ever thought of a Crash Bandicoot remake. Seems like something that would do so well.

I know! I think there is such a market for it as well. Soooo many people would play it. The same with Spyro. I know they had remakes, kind of, but they were so different.

GamerGabs3916d ago

I do miss the old Disney games, would be great if they brought them back. I remember many hours of fun spent on Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup - would love to see an updated version.

Maple223914d ago

I was so excited when I found them online to play! Especially Aladdin, but it soon wore off when I realised that I still wasn't any good at it. They are so hard!

c00lvilKid693914d ago

They could make some amazing games using the Harry Potter Universe. But yeah, Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup deserves a remake or sequel. I played it so much!

Skellytorx3914d ago

Hercules should make a comeback. That was such an awesome Disney game.

I like to think he’s in a bar somewhere – "I was famous once, you know!?"

LOL. Capcom have no shame. They included the Steam releases with The Enigma Protector DRM (which is worse than Denuvo).

GOG exists for a reason. Glad I purchased the games over there a while back.

This could either be a litmus test for a new Dino Crisis remake game or an attempt to further fund one already in the making.

Loved Ecco on Megadrive/Genesis. Diving out of the water was always a fun feeling, and the whole 'vibe' while playing/exploring was pretty chill and special.

Always hoped we'd get a proper 3D sequel with modern-tech water-graphics and physics. (Same wish for Wave Racer btw).

Rebel_Scum136d ago

It was pretty chill until you get to the last 2 or 3 levels. My god Welcome to the Machine was brutal.

killagram135d ago

You can always play an emulated Ecco: Defender of the Future on Flycast, or if you have a real Dreamcast play it there.

fr0sty135d ago

This makes me smile. I hope that the game and especially the soundtrack keep the same relaxed vibe.

Rebel_Scum136d ago

That is amazing news. Keep it level based or metroidvania but dont go the roguelike route and it should be good.

Now do Shining Force, the small but passionate fanbase wants a new game so badly.

That brings me back. I know I have a couple copies on Sega consoles but they’re in a box somewhere.
I may check out a new game if done well

Why a lottery? Just slam it on an online store and let the cash drop.

It’s been so long and overdue I won’t get my hopes up until something is announced.
