north and dinklage are both incredible talents... and not even they can do anything to salvage this character or the writing... kinda speaks volumes about both in my book :/ ... just saying

Nope. North's performance is better. Neither are working with anything great, and they add pauses that make it awkward, but North's delivery works better for me. Dinklage just sounds like Dinklage reading.

Perhaps it's better to just pick a low budget actor to read the emotionless robot lines and spent more of the budget on content ..

Yup, i totally agree. The script is awful, but North puts in an odd C3PO impersonation that just feels wrong.

then again i always liked dinklidges perfromce. his version of ghost felt sort of put upon and like an unwilling caretaker, and it worked.

They did so well with guilty spark from Halo it makes me wonder why they have so much trouble. Couldn't be Activision....

It's like they replaced a rather robotically bored, otherworldy, even slightly sinister, voice with a more human Sheldon out of The Big Bang Theory reading a child a bedtime story style.

I suppose it depends how much you want a bit of friendly Nolan North sarcasm in your games. Was that supposed to be the Ghost's personality? If it was, it doesn't appear that they ever told Dinklage whose performance suggested that the Ghost had dark secrets that it wasn't yet letting on to you.

I feel a bit awkward about one voice actor usurping the work of another in such a way.

And if the Ghost turns out to be villainous in some way later on then I don't appreciate them bringing in North when Dinklage's performance was more consistent with that.

(Either way, I'm not in to MMORPGs anyway. Don't agree/disagree on that point. You can be in to it).

North's is better. I think the difference maybe the fact that North is aware of the situations under which the dialogues are made.There is situation awareness in his speech plus he sounds like a sidekick not a human trapped in a floating box. Peter was probably working with descriptions of the scenes from a studio in another country.

I never had a problem with dinklage in the first place. We'll get used to North after a while and won't care.

Nolan sounds too "real" if that makes sense. For example, the "we've woken the hive!" line is pulled off great by Peter IMO and when Nolan does it he sounds slightly amused like "hmpf, hives up".

They shouldn't have changed dinklage but they should have changed the voice of the announcer in the crucible. I can't stand that voice. Made me not want to play crucible for like 6 months

It doesn't even sound like a robot with Nolan, it just sounds childish...course the game essentially is. One of the only things I enjoyed about Destiny was Dinklage's voice and how it was dark and eerie. If there had been an actual story, it would've been so much better.

That said, I don't think having a good story would make Nolan's voice that, uh, enjoyable here, however, I think it's primarily an issue with the story itself. A bad script makes for a bad performance.

Complete waste of time replacing the dialogue with North...Dinklage sounded better imo. And as mentioned above they could have rescripted it a bit to make it a little different being that they changed it anyway. What a waste. Like I said this was the least of this games issues that needed to be 'fixed'.

Haha. So everyone and their bother does nothing but complain about how poor Peters performance was so they recast the role only for everyone to realize that it was fine. Case in point for the modern gaming player base. I was a supporter of Peter from the get go but that's what we get when people have an outlet to whine about everything these days.

I think Nathan Fillion would have voiced Ghost better. He's already fun with the few lines he gets in the game as the Hunter Vanguard.

Does the game give you the option of choosing between Dinklage and North? If it doesn't, that's a massive oversight.

I agree with everyone else, Dinklage was way better. Nolan's just sounds...forced, and with too much inflection in the wrong spots.

Meh, difference is negligible to me - neither one are really any different other than a different sounding ghost. I like Dinklage but North would've been just as good if he was the original ghost. So whatever...lol

I guess this is what happens when your lead writer of 15 years leaves the company and you have to re-write a games story in under a year while also working on development.

Bad dialogue is bad dialogue. Changing the voice wouldn't help that. I think everyone is now accustomed to Dinklebot. They could have said the Ghost got an AI upgrade and change the voice in TTK rather than vanilla Destiny changes as well. This way the new voice with new dialogue.

I was looking forward to nathan drake ghost, not take any voice and make it sound like a teen boy who wants to be a girl.

Is it possible Bungie change the actor for a light hearted tone including the changes to pull in more casual players? I don't play PvP at all but I like everything else about Destiny including the changes in the Taken King but I think the original voice of Ghost should've remained.

As much as I like Nolan North. Peter Dinklage fits really well for what is worth. Even if the script is crap, he did a great job.

I think its 50/50 for me certain parts Peter Dinklage sounds better and others Nolan North sounds better. Either way it shows that the script was really bad and neither one could really save the so vanilla story.

I'm sure the bot will be much better in the new content. They kinda forced Nolan to redo the lines and he went off what Dinklebot did and the poor script.

whoever wrote those awful scripts seemed like they intended they give the robot some personality but failed. Dinklage's VO is terrible. The new one is a little better but not by much.

When Destiny launched, 95% of people hated Dinklebot.

Now that Dinklebot has been replaced with Northbot, 95% of people hate Northbot but apparently had 'no problem' with Dinklebot in the first place.
