It's important in life to maintain a broad palette when it comes to culture and the arts. Hideo Kojima agrees, as he continues to use video games like Death Stranding to introduce people to music and other elements they might not otherwise discover.

I think gaming is an awesome way to spend spare time!
Its better then wasting money on drink and drugs!!
I prefer my 2 kids at home playing video games instead of out mixing with the local wastemans who get high all day and break the law!!
Also i think our generations are better off when old because gaming helps stimulate the brain and keeps hand eye cordination good.
In todays cruel world there are allot worse things people do with spare time!
Gaming is one of the better mediums.
As a grown adult who has worked in a professional job for many years. I can honestly say I don't consider anything a "Waste" of time if you are enjoying yourself. I consider gaming very much like film or music, except it brings together many different things all in one and allows us to interact with them all simultaneously. And in many cases if we are playing with friends online across the state and even different countries, than it actually allows us to meet many people in far away places we never would have been able to meet in our day to day travels or lives. I would certainly never consider it a waste of time as I have always enjoyed this hobby and hope to for many more years.
22? Why not 25? Why not 30?
Everything is a waste of time, if you wanna think of it that way. Hobbies are, by default, supposed to consume extra time. How old you are really has nothing to do with it.
That's the kind of thinking others try to place on you, because they don't enjoy the same things, because they have preconceived notions about what it means to be an adult. Ironic, considering how childish and immature most adults actually are.
Not gonna listen to what other people have to say on that front. I'll enjoy what I want to enjoy. So long as I take care of my responsibilities, they can kiss my rear end.
Okay hang on...
This has nothing to do with the overall "video Games" this is a "YOU" problem.
You are a graduate with a degree you seem to admit you only got because you needed a degree. You work a retail job and have no intentions of working a job that your degree would directly benefit. You are not sure what you want to do with your life. You realize that now that School is over you probably have more financial responsibilities that are more glaring.
In Essence you are learning how to GROW UP!
So lets break these two things apart. The issue isn't whether games are a "waste" of time. The issue is that you aren't happy and know that you don't want to sustain a life like you have and playing games doesn't directly benefit a better more financially secure life.
For instance, I am in my thirties have a full time salaried job and still manage to go to school full time while also being married, own my own home and live extremely more comfortable than I was just two years ago... I still play games A LOT! When I was making minimum wage... I hated the fact that I played games (or rather that the time was not spent well), now that I have improved my life, I wish I still had more time to play.
In essence the feeling you have is that of responsibility. You want to do better than just survive and you are looking at games as time wasted. Once you are happy, safe, and secure that game playing time will turn back into time relaxing. My spare time is the most valuable time I have, I spend it with my family and playing games.
In other words, its a pretty natural feeling and will go away once you "figure" life out and aren't worried about things like wheres my next paycheck coming from and will it cover all my bills.
Unless the time was supposed to be used for improvement in another area I don't see how it is called a waste. Have a work project deadline coming up and you're playing games instead of working on it? Yeah, that is a waste. Home from work and just want to do something you enjoy? Not a waste.
By this logic watching sports, television, reading books/comics, or just taking a nap would be considered a waste of time.
