How many games can say they invented a genre? Not many. However, Alone in the Dark can. Launching in 1992, the game was revolutionary in multiple ways. It had 2D pre-rendered backgrounds with 3D polygon characters. The mixture of formats required static camera angles in order for the technology to work. The programmers took this problem and turned it into genius, by creating odd and claustrophobic camera angles that added to the atmosphere.

I think the game writes should be glad... the movie is not that good. Its connection to the game is in name only.
I loved Alone in the Dark. Definitely on the list of my all time greatest videogame experiences. I remember playing it on my dad's computer with my little brother, when I was 12, from start to finish. Only one time did I have to call the 1-800 line for help! If this game is anything near as good, I'm in for a treat.. Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I download that @$!#&!!
