Jolt Preview: Ghostbusters: The Video Game

Colin J Barnwell:
''It's a move seemingly only Walter Peck could have orchestrated, but the Ghostbusters have found themselves in limbo following Activision/Blizzard's failure to pick up the Sierra title upon acquiring Vivendi (which owns the Sierra label). However, if we've learned anything from the movies, it's not to count the fearless foursome out just because of a little bureaucracy. With the game so close to completion and all the movie names on board, the word 'cancelled' is far from the lips of those apparently in the know.

As previously reported, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, who co-wrote the original movie, have handled the script for Ghostbusters: The Videogame, which takes place seven years after the first film and two years after the second (1991, in other words). Paranormal activity in the city of New York is once again on the up, and rather than entertaining kids at parties, the Ghostbusters are plying their trade in a legitimate – if reckless – fashion.

Like any growing business, new hires are to be expected, and you are the newest. Mentored by Ray, and with the help of the others, you are schooled in the arts of 'bustin', which strangely seems to involve visiting familiar haunts (groan) such as the New York Library and the Sedgewick Hotel, at least if the recent demos are anything to go by.''

Review - Ghostbuster The Video Game Remastered (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Todd Eggleston: "Ghostbusters The Video Game is nostalgia done right, and puts you right back in 1984. It isn’t a masterpiece of a game, and neither was the movie, but it reminds us again that it is ok for entertainment to just be entertaining. It is a game that deserves to be remastered and remembered. And 35 years later, it also serves to remind us that a remaster doesn’t always need to be Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott. Sometimes, Ray Parker Jr. is exactly who you need to call."
