Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that Argentinean forward Lionel Messi is to be the face of its forthcoming PES 2009 title for PS3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PlayStation 2, and PSP, Wii and mobile phones across Europe.
Messi is one of the most exciting and paciest forwards in the modern game, and is an ever-present in both the Argentinean national side and for his club side, FC Barcelona. Having played for Argentinean sides since he was five, Messi moved to Barcelona when he was just 13,13 working his way through the CatalanFC Barcelona side's youth and reserve teams, before making his full debut in October 2004 as the youngest player ever to play in the Spanish top flight. He made his debut for Argentina against Hungary in 2005, and has been a permanent member of the squad ever since.

The epic fight between the two soccer giants Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA has been going on for over 10 years now. Cynamite takes a look at the scores from both games and shows, at which point PES overtook the FIFA series.
PS1/PS2 - PES by far
360/PS3 - FIFA by far
I can't see that changing until the next generation of consoles.
2000 - 2005 -> PES dominated since the PS1 days but then it came PES 2006 it was a major letdown
2006 - NOW -> Fifa started to show its quality on this current gen and it evolved year after year while PES was still way behind.
A shame that games like "This is football" just vanished during the PS2 days
pes2011 is much different from any next gen pes, this is really a huge improvement
Its funny to read or talk to the FIFA fanboy they cant accept the true and hate PES.
If you go to the FIFA forums they talk Bs. About pes and they hate it.
In the Pes forums they respect Fifa and many will be getting the two and we aré confidente that PES11 is better and the kind is back

With the current World Cup coverage all around the world, CoffeewithGames takes a look at the play-time data for some Wii soccer(or football) games.
CwG says about FIFA Soccer 10, "FIFA Soccer 10 was released on October 20, 2009, and the data was collected approximately 252 days after it released."
In another section CwG says, "FIFA Soccer 10 has 7,698 players reporting data."
CwG also shows the data for Mario Strikers Charged, Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, and FIFA Soccer 09 All-Play.
any of the games shown? If so, would you recommend them to others?
I have played Mario Strikers Charged and thought it was a lot of fun, reminded me A LOT of NHL Hitz.
Also, anybody that keeps up with soccer(or football) know if there is a "favored" team to win the World Cup out of the teams that are still in it?

Boomtown writes: "No rivalry in the world of gaming is fiercer than the one between competing football franchises. It almost mirrors the strength of feeling people have for their club. Crossing the divide to support another franchise is a relatively rare occurrence. There are two major derby matches in the football gaming calendar and they feature a bitter enmity which has built up over the last few years. The first is Pro Evolution versus FIFA and the second is Championship Manager versus Football Manager."
Messy
Though I am biased toward Man Utd.
If it was C.Ronaldo and L. Messi on the cover, that would be brilliant. However, Konami can't afford two superstars. Gone are the days where there were both stars like Henry and Terry on the cover in one year.
Last Year it was C.Ronaldo and Owen (in the UK). Owen is a nobody.
I wonder who the 'nobody' is for this year (for UK).
