VideoGamer: Saints Row 2 Hands-On

This is the first time Volition has ever shown off the PS3 version of upcoming GTA 4 rival Saints Row 2. Up to this point it's been the Xbox 360 version that's been shown to press, that's been played by press. This is an important moment in the development of the game, and you can tell the developer is delighted by it. "The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game are about a day apart right now," beams associate producer Dan Sutton.

Why is this important? Because the PS3 port of the first Saints Row never came to fruition. It was cancelled, in fact, so that the sequel could be concentrated on. And now the fruits of Volition's labour are here.

I sure with I had the same copy of GTA4 as everyone else cause my version sucks! It looks like balls, controls like balls and plays like balls.

SR2 looks 10 folds better than GTA4. I don't care what anyone says and if it plays like SR then it'll also play better than GTA4.

Hydrolex6506d ago

"And for the PS3 owners among you worried about Volition's ability to develop for Sony's console, fear not - SR2 looks no worse on PS3 than it does on 360."

Could this be considered as the REAL GTA4?

Stryfeno16506d ago (Edited 6506d ago )

IMO
Single player mode...Saints row wins
Mulitiplayer mode...GTA4 wins

I will just have to wait to see the final product. Saints Row was good but GTA:San Andreas was 10x better. Add a good story, mutiple planes/Helicopters and an open world multiplayer then it will probrably be better than GTA4.

Broken Games That Never Got Fixed

While a lot (like way too many) games launch in sorry states these days, a lot of them do eventually get polished up over time fixes. The same can’t be said for these properly broken games.

Worst for me is wipeout 2048.
I got gold in every single player race, made it extremely far into the great online shop platinum was a finger away.. then lost all my online progression. Many players experienced the same and hadn’t been fixed since

Cyberpunk and No Mans Sky are obviously the 2
best comeback stories. Cyberpunk is literally one of the best RPGs ever made now.

Christopher288d ago

I wouldn't call NMS broken at release, just under-delivered.

Michiel1989289d ago

junctioning is only broken now because it's been datamined which monster which gives which card and which card gives which items and every single spell to junction with the highest points for each stat. For it's time when that info wasn't readily available it was good, not without it's flaws, but not broken,

-Foxtrot289d ago

Exactly. I never got this because what made it broken was the knowledge of what to exploit.

Playing the game for the first time back then you never had any knowledge to make it so easy.

One minute the Junction system is complicated, the next it's super easy / broken. What is it?

gold_drake288d ago

i mean, ff8 is not "broken" per se, its just that the junction system is too good and easily exploited even an hour into the game. haha

Ashunderfire86288d ago

Star Wars Jedi Survivor is one of them. I can’t get in the Cantina bar later on in the game. The door and other doors throughout the environment is locked off. It is a shame, because I wanted to complete the game, but I can’t until they fix it.

You know usually when someone says "you may have missed" it's games that were lesser known, hidden gems, underrated games. These are all super high profile games that sold extremely well.

FPS_D3TH1248d ago (Edited 1248d ago )

You know the 2000s is 20 years ago too? Maybe, just maybe this wasn’t an article targeted to 30+ gamers? Still says at the very beginning of the title “THE BEST GAMES you may have missed”. Regardless of how well they sold there’s tons of gamers who haven’t touched these older well known games lol.

Welshy1248d ago (Edited 1248d ago )

It's games you "may have missed", insinuating you were around and gaming in the 2000's and were there to miss them. If it was aimed at everyone else then they missed literally everything, not just the top games.

The original commenter is right, this is a badly written article at best pointless at worst.

Crows901248d ago

Besides only being able to miss it if you were around during that time..if your point stands then this is a horrible list. Tons of better games people may have missed

I would like the original max payne remade in a new engine with ray tracing. 😊

FPS_D3TH1248d ago

Remedy games already working on that and I’m so stoked for it

XxINFERNUSxX1248d ago

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me I totally forgot they were doing it. Also what the hell happened to Kingpin: Reloaded? On Steam coming soon and nohting from the dev.

MadLad1248d ago

Yeah, I was just going to say. It's interesting seeing them back behind the series. Max Payne 3 was amazing, but then Rockstar just sat on the IP.
Well, they sit on virtually anything that isn't GTA and Red Dead now.

porkChop1248d ago

What is this list? These are all hugely popular games. I was expecting games like Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Advent Rising, Arx Fatalis, etc.

FPS_D3TH1248d ago

the title didn’t say lesser known titles from the 2000s. This is 20 years ago now lol. Big assumption this list was made for older gamers.

Dirty_Lemons1248d ago

That makes me feel so old.

Inverno1248d ago

I've only played 3 on that list. Part of me feels bad about how little I used all the consoles I've owned as a kid. One bright side is, there's over 30 years of games to experience for the first time.
