Sounds goood to me, definitely getting this. This is one of those rare games that I think I will enjoy and my missus will also enjoy watching me play and getting involved. That hasn't happend since The Last Of Us Remastered.

I can't imagine a scenario where something like this wouldn't have a more serious second half of the story . . .

It's based on 80's slashers.. Isn't the story supposed to be kinda trash? Which is the appeal of course.

Meh, knew it was too good to be true when it was announced. All I wanted was for them to not ruin it & make it some cheesy stupid American teen horror. Looks like they ramped it up to 11, way too cheesy for me. That video looked awful.

What is this need to dumb genres down until they're just ridiculous. For the only reason of because analysts who don't have the foggiest idea tell you it's the right thing to do or you're just not very good at making them.

Either make a horror or even make a comedy-horror but quit with these teen horrors. You can't take them serious enough to be respected as horrors & they're not funny enough to be comedy's so they just end up being rubbish to pass time with.

The PS4 is not selling because of games like this, guys. It isnt because the PlayStation brand is widely known for its fantastic variety and all that happy horseshit that you guys like to tout. It sells well because of games like DESTINY. Remember last september? Just one year ago? Sony had an exclusive deal with Bunjie and had a bundle that was selling shit loads all year. Do you remember what Watchdogs did for PS4 sales? It caused the sales to nearly double the week it came out. You fanboys are absolutely kidding yourself with this fantasy land, thinking Sony is selling PS4s because of exclusives. Give me a fucking break guys, take a step into reality.

People are a joke, if you like this game then like it, there's no reason to go on damage control. Every time a ps exclusive get low-mediocre reviews people go on damage control saying they're just biased, it's because it's not a generic shooter, ect. It's not a bad score, but it's still difficult to trust the majority of reviews nowadays, the most important is: PS4 players can enjoy Until Dawn, Metal Gear Solid, Tearaway and Mad Max on the next weeks, that's amazing.

I find it strange when IGN has issues with the story but in another review the story is pieced together by finding clues scattered around the game that gives the player a better narrative of whats going on.

So maybe IGN didn't find as many of these clues so the story didn't make as much sense to them as other sites. Just a thought.

The reviewer commends the game for using horror movie tropes and then complains that the second half of the game is darker. It has been my experience with these types of teen slasher movies that they always start off upbeat and get darker in the second half when everyone dies.

The reviews for this game and Everyone's gone to the Rapture both seem to have the same weird trend more than most other games. Either the reviewer really likes it and gives it a very high score, or they think it's really bad/just ok and give it a low medium score. This review is one of the few that I've seen that is kinda in the middle...and it's probably the most accurate...it's not a review done with Sony Goggles on, but it's also not just a straight aggressive hate review.

I guess what I'm trying to say is the reviews for these two games seem to be all over the place...some people giving the games more credit than they deserve and some people kncoking them more than they should....most other games seems to have a better consensus....i.e. MGS 5

This review and a few others seem to line up with how I figured the game would turn out. Some people will like it, but it's probably not for the masses.

Lucy O'Brien... typical. Once I know it is her I know she will low-ball the score of a PS game. The Australian IGN crew tend to low-ball their reviews. Duno if it is to get hits to prove their worth to the company or what.... something up there.

Hopefully this will spark more interest in horror games, a genre that's been on the fringes for a while. Yeah we have FNAF and the limited but still epic PT demo, but if done right the genre could explode.

ok after reading some of the comments on this thread... lets be a little pragmatic. i see people saying this game is about building variety on Ps4 and that 7.5 is a "Great Score". Ok as a person that owns a Ps4 and planning to to get a X1 i dont see sony exclusives putting out those platinum classics "yet" that they had on Ps2/Ps3. i buy every console for their must have exclusives. I bought Ps4 honestly because thats what the hype dictated and the media circus around x1 and its shitty initial policies.

But in all honesty, the Ps4 exclusives in general are "decent"(6-7.5) but collectively are NOT IMPRESSIVE (8.5-10). The one shining gem for thus far exclusively has been Bloodborne... true classic. But i expected more. Sony's marketing was pushing The Order 1886 and Driveclub hard as exclusive must haves. Then they released and ps4 owners are like..." WTF is this?" lol. Then you go to blogs and forums and you have consistent threads of ps4 faithful defending the titles. Okay lets be honest with ourselves.... If a vast portion of the coverage of a title is about defending its less than stellar or unimpressive reviews then its safe to say its not a classic. Yeah as consumers we are spoiled and expect a majority of the titles to be 9's and 10's. Every game can't be Uncharted 4, GTA V, Bloodborne , Gears or Forza but when the fanboys for each console come out the caves and shout from the montain tops that this and that console is the best, or this console is setting sales records cause its the best console ever... meanwhile a MAJORITY (not every title) of its exclusive library is getting 7.5 or less... then thats where some people can have an issue.

but hey i see few titles to look forward to on Ps4 like Uncharted, Street fighter 5, and Horizon. This Until Dawn just doesnt seem like its a pickup IMO.

Thought this was a PS4 exclusive, but judging by the "RS" triggers that appear in the review video I guess not.

When something is being scored or rated using a 1-10 scale, average is the middle point i.e. 5. When a game is scored above the half way point, it is above average. If this game is getting 8-9, it should be considered a very good to great game. Not perfect because that would be a 10 but certainly very good to great. I will be getting Until Dawn and Madden 16 very soon.

This is a really good score for me. Especially from this site which generally docks all games which aren't shooters or major franchises one point even if creative. I'm getting this for sure. It's a great game to be able to pull that high a score for me. Generally horror games are messed up or not done right.This one seems to have gotten it right.

Gotta admit 2025 has been very solid for PS plus additions
