What?

Well, I get your point... In the near future there are SP driven games that'll release as you've mentioned.

ReCore, ScaleBound and Quantum Break..

XO has always excelled in MultiPlayer. That's because the games are made with MP in mind backed up by a solid network too.

I enjoyed Sunset OD Ori and Ryse and those were solo experiences. They have Mp components but I preferred playing alone. I wouldn't say the Xbox is lagging behind in the SP department. It's just a solid platform for multi-player.

TwoForce3851d ago

To be honest, i mean Xbox brand never have best single player for a long time, but they do have some great single player games like Alan Wake which most people said it was fantastic game. And i Know QB will have great single player campaign. Don't know much about Recore, i have to wait for that. And Scalebound, i know it cool, but i know it's going to be like your typical story of save the world, killing monster and badies with your badass sworn and your dragon. Platinum Games for knowing as their overtop action style. I'm enjoy their typical story of games, but most importantly it about the gameplay which i enjoy a lot of it. Oh my god, i remember when i played vanquish on ps3, it was one of the best over top action shooter and i want to see sequel. Hey Platinum, when you done Scalebound and Nier. Can you return to make another Vanquish Games, please ? Thanks.

Shineon3851d ago

Xbox was always good at providing local coop since the original Xbox( damn I miss Brute Force)NE way I'm pretty sure most multilayer games have a single player mode as well so yeah....

JasonBloodbourne3851d ago

Brute force!! Bloody hell I'd forgotten all about that game.

Automatic793851d ago (Edited 3851d ago )

Since launch Xbox One has had arguably the best single player experiences with multi player added for example DeadRising 3, RYSE,State of Decay, Forza, Max and the Cursed Brotherhood, Sunset Overdrive, D4, Ori and Blind Forest, looking ahead Rise of the Tomb Raider, Recore, Quantum Break,Scalebound. Even games like Fable, Halo and Crackdown although heavily marketed as Multiplayer have great SP.

jb2273851d ago

Does anyone consider Forza a "single player" game? Its a racing game...semantics say it has a single player component but thats not what they are getting at there. State of Decay is an online mmo type title isn't it? Is there a meaty offline single player campaign? RotTR is a multiplat, we don't even know what ReCore is at this point & Scalebound has been pushed w/ a co op focus, Crackdown is looking to be mp focused as well, same for Fable from what I understand. Can't really count on unreleased games that we don't have full information for, and I think the article is trying to get at dedicated single player titles whose primary focus isn't aimed at the mp community. There are a fair few sp games on XBO but that's never been a priority for MS.

Jmanzare3851d ago

state of decay has no multiplayer and just because they showed off crackdown 3 multiplayer doesnt mean that is the games focus. theres tons of xb1 sp games im not going to make a list

user99502793851d ago

Exactly. Being a more multiplayer-focused guy, it would never even occur to me to think of things the way the Author has put them. For me, I would frame it (and I often think this), "does Playstation lag behind in multiplayer?"

Automatic793851d ago (Edited 3851d ago )

I feel PS had fantastic SP in PS3 Era but in PS4 It has'nt hit its stride yet however with that said Killzone, Infamous, Knack, BloodBourne, The Order The Last of US have been great the last of US being more a PS3 game has helped it and looking ahead Horizon, Uncharted, God of War look to bring PS4 up to speed. In terms of Multiplayer PS exclusives way behind Xbox One.

user99502793851d ago

I agree. Easy to understand why people who prefer narrative-driven games would gravitate towards Playstation.

DragonKnight3851d ago

I'd say the truth is that both XBone and PS4 are lagging in SP but it's because the industry as a whole is lagging in SP. Too much focus on online in general and let's not forget the games with awful SP in favour of focusing on MP.

3-4-53851d ago

Some of the best Single Player experiences are in JRPG's.

PS4 looks to be getting the majority of those this gen.

The single player on all the flagship franchises e.g Crackdown, Halo, Gears of war, Forza, Fable etc. has always been amazing to me. I chose xbox over playstation mainly BECAUSE the single player on these games appeals to me so much. I absolutely LOVE story in games, especially in single player and I would say the Xbox exclusive single player holds its own very well and I hope the trend continues in Forza, Fable, Gears of war and Halo 5 (best single player imo) this year :)

TwoForce3851d ago (Edited 3851d ago )

I do agree with your opinion. But for me, i prefer Playstation Single Player Story games, that's just because i like their unique story which kind interest to me the most. For example, Uncharted franchise is knowing for best single player experience, i enjoy the characters, story and action sequences. Killzone Single Player, which i know a lot of people said not the best, but i enjoy the lore and story, because it was not about killing alien or save the world, it rather than a World War 2 type in the future. Now that's just my opnion, not fact. If you don't like my opinion, that's fine really. I won't judge really :).

gamer78043851d ago

It really doesn't have to be one or the other. Halo has great multiplayer as well as single player . Quantum break looks great next year

Eterna1Ice3851d ago

Will look even better on PC.

gamer78043851d ago

I know, the new xbox app on windows 10 allows for 1080p streaming, will be great to be able to easily play on the xbox one or stream from it to my tablet or my pc so we can play anywhere!

I've always found that playstation was the place for me for single player games but at the same time there are some amazing single player experiences on xbox.

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Rumour: Halo Remake Is Coming to PS5, Will Feature 'Modern Gameplay Mechanics'

I expect this to be announced pretty soon. Can't wait, this game was awesome. I wonder how of a remake it'll be though, hopefully not a remaster because we already have that lol.

S2Killinit140d ago

It needs to be a complete redo of graphics or else its not my cup of tea.

hennessey86140d ago

it will be running on unreal engine 5, so it will look good. The question is will it run as good as it looks

GenoPurpel140d ago

I think they teased it a few months back when they announced Halo studios. It does look quite incredible graphically but as Hennessy says above, how it runs is gonna be a different story given UE5 track record.

darthv72140d ago

it would probably be like the gears of war reloaded. Which was a remake of the remaster of the original.

...this gen is getting confusing with so many re-whatevers.

1Victor140d ago

@S2K: “ It needs to be a complete redo of graphics or else it’s not my cup of tea.”
I completely agree with you and would add a VR mode as well🥺

gold_drake140d ago (Edited 140d ago )

oh yeh, theres like a showcase soon, maybe they'll announce it there.

or at the game awards

but ue5 only looks pretty. the games run ..
abit weird.

Notellin140d ago

It's being shown at the Halo World Championships which they had already announced a few weeks ago.

RaidenBlack141d ago (Edited 141d ago )

Better reboot than another re-touch (remake after an already remaster) .... but 343/Halo is incompetent now, so .... guess this is best they can do with help of Coalition

pwnmaster3000141d ago

So much memories with halo.
The original Xbox was my first console (actually 64 but barely played) and the first game was halo. Me and my brother use to play coop almost everyday.
We eventually traded in for a PS2 because of kingdom hearts lol

maximusprime_140d ago

I played the first 2 Halo games. That's Bungie's Halo.. I do not know whether 343's Halo is as good as Bungie's.

Either ways Halo is one of Microsoft's big franchises. So many rumours so it's becoming more likely it'll come to PS5

darthv72140d ago

Halo 3 is Bungie's game... so is Reach and ODST. 4, 5 & 6 (Infinite) are 343's. They aren't bad... just different. The original trilogy story ended and should have finished there. But MS wanted to 'Star Wars' this franchise and came up with new stories that sort of just sit there.

TheColbertinator140d ago

You haven't missed out much since Bungie left.

Halo art director leaves studio after 17 years with ominous message alluding to discontent

Glenn Israel writes: "As of today and after seventeen long years, I am officially no longer contributing to the Halo universe. There is little more I can say for the moment, though I intend to share this particular story in its entirety when it is absolutely safe to do so next year. In the meantime, I have a message for anyone and everyone who needs to hear it.

I know that the state of our industry seems dire, but never forget that you are *free to choose*. No illusion of security nor promise of wealth or fame or power is worth trading away your health, your dignity, your ethics or values - and no one can force you to. Stay strong, take evidence when necessary, and find where you belong."

My god.
There's a story for next year.

VenomUK145d ago

I’m really disappointed to learn there are still people/morale problems. I thought the whole point of rebranding 343i to Halo Studios was to signal that real changes had been made - not to cynically rebrand to paper over the problems.

I really hope the Halo CE remake is great and gets people hyped for the future of the series.

DarXyde145d ago

It's inevitable with the modern landscape. Even if some issues have been assuaged, new ones crop up all the time.

I'm willing to bet AI and the lack of regulation is causing substantial upset.

shinXseijuro146d ago (Edited 146d ago )

He said something very marking . We tend to complain a lot about the industry but deep down I realize that we never have we been offered this crazy amount of games all available for you to play now . You can literally play any sorts of games in 2025 . Nobody is forcing you to buy the latest COD or the latest BF . You’re more of a 8 bit cozy gaming guy there’s a whole niche of modern games for that . You like micromanaging there’s games for that . I feel like we have been spoiled so much we just stopped being realistic and thinking for ourselves . We follow trends cry about stuff online when you are the buyer you have the power .

Notellin145d ago

I'm not buying any games until another Immersive sim is made.

PhillyDonJawn146d ago

....wth happened over there?
Does this confirm a new Halo by next year?
What did they want him to do that made him feel it was morally wrong or a insult to his integrity?

-Foxtrot146d ago

Well how about that, a name change doesn’t fix internal issues

Who would have thought

jznrpg145d ago

MS was throwing money around for a long time but now it’s time to pay the Piper.
