Yeah Need for Speed on this one although both games are kinda different. DC has more attention to the finer details but N4S has it overall.

I'll probably get show down to pieces for this but DC's visuals seem really inconsistent to me. Was on it yesterday and it just didn't stand out as much as I remembered it to.

Speak_da_Truth3943d ago

It has never stood out to you before so it's not surprising to see you pick nfs.

ShinMaster3943d ago (Edited 3943d ago )

It's not a very accurate comparison. Different lighting conditions.

NFS takes place in a city with multiple light sources illuminating the environment, so it's bound to look more flashy and visually appealing. And not having an in-car view also helps.

Not to take anything away from NFS though. It does look really great.

WalterWJR3943d ago (Edited 3943d ago )

It doesn't matter what Game or anything. Septic will always side with Xbox or a Multiplat over Sony. Not sure if he's a troll or an Xbox rep. Either way I don't take anything he say seriously but still can be amusing to listen to him defend every comment over and over.

subtenko3943d ago

Heres the thing, Drive Club wins in this match in terms of better look graphics, or engine if you wanna say that. Now Drive CLub doesnt really take place in the same scenary in the eyecandy city of NFS. NFS also has a more motion blur.

Both games look great tho and I like it. We shouldnt stop there, keep going! :D

Gazondaily3943d ago

@Walter

Forget your obsession with me for one moment and tell us what you think. What looks better ; NFS or DC?

DevilOgreFish3943d ago (Edited 3943d ago )

Need for speed is more open world.

agame9143942d ago

your the most biased and annoying person on n4g

Dee_913942d ago (Edited 3942d ago )

Considering NFS is open world, I am shocked that it can even compete graphically with driveclub. Anybody with DriveClub knows this video doesn't do it any justice compared to seeing it in person though i'm pretty sure the same could be said for NFS. But judging from my personal experience with DC and the youtube videos of NFS, Driveclub has the better overall graphics, which is to be expected considering NFS is open world.

muzikjunkie803942d ago

WalterWJR:

could say the same for all playstation fans... they are the biggest hypocites on here, they praise a game like need for speed in a drive club comparisson but yet when forza gets compared to drive club oh no! we cant have that now... will there ever be a time when ps fans will enjoy all games no matter what platform its on? doubt it as long as their heads are up sonys @ss

showtimefolks3942d ago

septic

I thought I was the only one who noticed your stealthy comments against playstation but it seems others are also noticing

with the amount of bubbles you have, you should always make neutral posts

we get it man Xbox one is amazing
we get crackdown is only possible on Xbox one
we get it BC is a killer feature

just why do people feel the need to push down these things down our throats. why can I be a Ps4 gamer who may never buy an Xbox one but will also never say anything against it? why is it and I am not just asking you septic, I don't want you to feel I am just picking you out

trolls exist on both sides, playstation trolls make bad comments about Xbox one and Xbox trolls make bad comments about ps4.

and you know who you are. difference I have seen is playstation trolls have one or 2 bubbles while Xbox one trolls have 5 and above so something must be magical on this site

Gazondaily3942d ago (Edited 3942d ago )

Honestly wtf did I do wrong here? I simply shared my opinion and I've got trolls calling me out?

I'm not stealth trolling at all. Want to challenge me on my opinions? By all means do so. I will do a video chat ir even face to face sit down and debate things with you. You lot are welcome to join me because unlike many on here, I have a back bone and am happy to back up my points.

So if youre going off topic and dragging me out here because i hurt your sensibilities, then call me out specifically on the topic at hand.

NFS is a better looking game in that video. I am not that impressed by DC's visuals because I think they're inconsistent but in the past, I have always given it props on here for its visuals. I am not impressed by DC as a racer, yes this is true. What's stealthy about what Ive said?

@ninsigma below

What's stealthy downplay though? Honestly tell me. Make Xbox look better? How did I do that here? That was PS4 NFS footage

ninsigma3942d ago

I would just like to say that I agree with the people above about your "stealthy" ps downplay and what not. In fact it's not really ps downplay, it's more just make xbox look better. That's fine though, just don't like it when you turn around and pretend to be neutral, that's all.

Though having said that, in this case I would agree with you, and give the nod to need for speed on which looks better.

RegorL3941d ago

"DC has more attention to the finer details but N4S has it overall"?

What I am seeing in this video is that N4S has a lot more finer details... The car you customize will be the car you drive.

So, what vehicle details are you thinking about?
(the surrounding is no question that N4S wins, just begin to compare the closest surrounding - the tarmac you drive on...)

PC_603943d ago

If I am correct they were showing PS4 footage which already looks amazing and I cannot wait to see or finally play the PC version as it should look even better and I can play in 4K with my monitor as well

Jalva3943d ago

Agreed, and considering it's also open world that's quite an accomplishment.

Speak_da_Truth3943d ago

It's open world but with no interiors. Driveclub is a track racer with both interior and exterior modeled down to every last screw.

PistolsAtDawn3942d ago

@Speak...are you trying to imply that a cockpit view is harder to compute than a City?

Speak_da_Truth3942d ago

@Pistols that's not what I was implying because you can't compare the environments as they are two different settings. We'll have wait for a city track in Driveclub.

Azzanation3943d ago

NFS definitely looks more fun to play. I would say they both look similar except NFS seems a lot faster and the spark effects etc

I do want to stay out if this one because this is N4G and the gamers here think DC is the best Racing car game on the market.

So ill leave it at they both look the same except NFS looks fasters.

eliasg3942d ago

actually both games look great, but imo NFS looks better in these night videos.

grumpygamr3942d ago (Edited 3942d ago )

The headlights look amazing in Drive Club. Looking forward the Need For Speed. Looks like Forza 6 can wait till its bargain priced. I probably won't be able to wait that long. Better start saving now.
The person posting the Video is also arguably an Xbox One fanboy or fanboy feeder, easy to see in the videos in my opinion.
Doesn't change fact that NFS looks good.

sammarshall1023943d ago

The Need for Speed wins this one

HaydenJameSmith3943d ago

Agreed NFS looks mighty impressive...

Gotta say that Frostbite Engine is delivering some impressive graphics between this Battlefront and Mirrors Edge... Im sure ME4 will be a looker too.

Whirlwind_Fanfare_083943d ago

Both look great.True racing game fan here! i have no favorites.

CBforeva3943d ago (Edited 3943d ago )

So true man. Just thinking about GT7 gives me shivers. :) DC and NFS will help to ease the pain to wait for it.

Gazondaily3943d ago

GT7...that will wipe the floor with all other racers in the visuals department is my prediction. Their next game will look better than real life.

dcbronco3943d ago

Septic that may happen. But they seem to take several extra years to put a version together. You have to believe the PS4 version was started before launch and we haven't heard a word about it. Five year development cycles should always give you better results.

Narutone663943d ago

Both look good, NFS's speed looks exaggerated, while DC's looks like it's tone down. I guess it caters to different gamers. So if you're a fan of these genres buy both. While me, I'm more of a GT gamer. So I'm still waiting for GT7 to be release before buying a PS4. I bought my PS3 after GT5 was released. I'm sure a lot of GT fans are doing the same.

Whirlwind_Fanfare_083943d ago

I'm also into racing sims myself! forza 6 looking great even i don't have a XB1, and although we haven't heard nothing about GT7 yet, it's all good because while they polyphony digital still working on it,
the crew wild run expansion pack coming november 17 with the graphics overhaul with dynamic weather system, handling physics more stable from what i heard on some videos on youtube and more, need for speed 2015 on november 3rd and i got driveclub,
i'm good. :)

AudioEppa3943d ago

It's a tie for me. The games look amazing for different reasons so I would have no problem owning both, hell after seeing the upgrades coming to the crew I might end up getting that as well. 3 cool car games, each having their own personality for what they offer.

uth113943d ago

I'm looking forward to the Crew's updates as well. It's getting a lot of buzz from people who dismissed the game initially.

This NFS... Hard for me to get excited about it, I don't only want to race at night.

Rookie_Monster3943d ago

NFS won. Wow, it does look stunning with the speed and lighting.

snoopgg3942d ago

Will Need For Speed look better on the Ps4 or xboxone?

Everyone's Talking About DriveClub Again, PS4's Underappreciated Racer

In this day and age, it’s rare we experience a warm fuzzy feeling when we boot up X (formerly known as Twitter, of course).

But the past few days have been lovely: our feed is full of people talking about DriveClub again.

The discussion started when someone posted a clip of the game and its infamous rain effects. The caption reads: “Still can’t believe this is a 12 year old game.”

darthv7258d ago

This was one I was hoping would have some kind of boost from the PS5. The devs locked that sucker so tight...

I play the PSVR one even though it doesn't look as good, because that one is 60fps.

fr0sty57d ago

To this day, there still hasn't been a game to pull off better rain effects.

Cacabunga57d ago

Evolution Studios.. another waste of talent

fr0sty57d ago

I interviewed them twice back in my gaming journalist days... Once at E3 2006 and again on a podcast about a year later. Really nice folks.

fr0sty56d ago (Edited 56d ago )

The guy we interviewed both times' name was Simon, I can't remember his last name, it was 20 years ago, but he was a really nice guy, and was very passionate about his job. It broke my heart when I saw Sony shuttered Evolution. I do hope they bring some of those folks back, but I remember another studio ended up hiring most of them back in those days, and they've been releasing new games since under that studio... Codemasters, maybe? I forgot which....

But the amount of talent that Sony has shut down over the years, it's disturbing. Psygnosis, Evolution, Zipper... just those three studios produced some of the most innovative games that PlayStation has ever seen... and those games need to be brought back.

Agent7556d ago

Driveclub VR was graphically tragic.

maximusprime_58d ago

If they were to release that game on the PlayStation 5, there would be absolutely no need for a remaster or a remake. The whole appeal of the original game was that it consistently exceeded people's expectations.

fr0sty57d ago

Higher rendering res and textures, higher framerate, maybe toss in some global illumination/ray tracing, but other than that, they could keep every polygon the same and it would still look absolutely incredible as a current gen title.

Reaper22_57d ago

That game has good graphics but bad AI, though.

Agent7556d ago

The AI was what I'd call aggressive, but superb to play.

Jin_Sakai58d ago

Sony should reassemble the team and make Driveclub 2. Driveclub was so ahead of its time it’s crazy.

lodossrage58d ago (Edited 58d ago )

This is what I hate about gamers sometimes

There is a segment of gaming communities that always want an old game to come back. But when the game(s) were in their prime, nobody supported them or not enough people supported them. Driveclub, Killzone, Resistance, etc all fit that profile.

I want Driveclub, Killzone, Resistence, and etc all back too. But I say that as someone that bought into, played, and own those games.

Too many people like to talk but not put up the money to support when it's needed. I even lump two of my own personal friends into that. I remember how one of them constantly said "I always wanted to play the Resistance games", yet never made an effort to buy any of them. No way that's an isolated event.

IanTH56d ago (Edited 56d ago )

There are certainly games that fit that description, but I'm not sure these are a good fit:

- Driveclub infamously launched in a truly terrible state. It had a central focus on online & social features, and those were broken for about 6+ months before people could reliably play it as intended. It was so bad that the PS Plus Edition was delayed, along with its companion app. It also released less than a year after the PS4 launch, so it had to deal with a smaller total of launch PS4 owners to sell to, and Driveclub's rough launch certainly did it no favors.
- Resistance got 3 main console entries, and one handheld title for the PSP and PS Vita. Killzone got 5 main console entries across 3 generations, and one handheld title for PSP and PS Vita. This was also the era of millions of shooters, especially of the First Person variety, & genre fatigue was getting heavier by the year. So I feel these did pretty good at 5 and 7 titles respectively, pointing to enough people showing up for at least a while.

I'm not saying people don't exist who fit that criteria for these games, but I also don't think they were the primary issue. I think after a solid break from the IPs, as well as a lessening of shooter oversaturation, these titles could find healthy audiences if they came out with new entries at this point.

Agent7556d ago

Killzone on the PS4 had the graphics, but the gameplay was tragic, I only rated Killzone 3, although the first game on the PS2 was decent. The Getaway was another game Sony canned, the sequel was so bad. Plenty of games need a sequel, the likes of Ridge Racer, Wipeout, Project Gotham, Wave Race and F-Zero have been retired. The racing genre these days, I'm sick of Turismo and Forza due to the same tracks and any other clones.

robtion57d ago

I think the original Motorstorm was the game that convinced me to buy a ps3. Way ahead of its time.

Storm2357d ago

I played the sh*t out of MotorStorm 1 and 2. Incredible games.

darthv7257d ago

Pacific Rift was the best of the bunch for me.

badz14956d ago

Pacific Rift for me is still the best off-road racer ever made

Agent7556d ago

Surprised Sony didn't release a collectio, but all they seem to do these days is release God of War and Uncharted collections. It kills me that I no longer have a PS3, so a collection would be awesome.

Classic PS4 Racer DriveClub Is Now a Decade Old

PushSquare:

DriveClub, the legendary PS4 racer from shuttered Runcorn studio Evolution, has such an interesting story.

Originally announced alongside the PS4, the game had been intended as a launch title – we even played it in a big London church Sony had rented to showcase the new system prior to its release.

Evolution was done dirty... DC is still the most stunning visual game of its generation. They certainly deserved better in the end.

VenomUK600d ago (Edited 600d ago )

DriveClub was pretty and I loved the experience of driving in the rain, it was immersive. I had some good races with people from an old forum, but at times I found it to be a bit boring. MotorStorm was such a fun game to play and I loved the controls - it would make sense to remaster that.

DarXyde600d ago

I'd give the visual showcase award of the last generation to The Order: 1886. That game was immaculate.

Uncharted 4 was also absolutely insane, and perhaps manages to use the PS4's power in extremely clever ways.

jznrpg600d ago

It didn’t get good reviews unfortunately

obidanshinobi600d ago

Cause the game was mediocre at best, and surpassed in pretty much every area by Forza Horizon 2.

IRetrouk600d ago

Apart from visuals, driving model, weather effects, only thing forza had was an open world...

Inverno600d ago (Edited 600d ago )

It's multiplayer component was the only thing struggling at launch but the game was still perfectly playable offline. Done dirty is an understatement because how many games after came out with broken online components that got a pass? Now games with an SP and MP get separate reviews for SP and MP smh! SONY shut them down as if Evo had been bleeding money instead of putting out great games. Their fate was undeserved and they were the targets of a media smear campaign due to that one trailer.

Knushwood Butt600d ago

Loved it.
Now here's a game that would benefit from a remaster.
4K, 60 FPS
I'd buy it.

ravens52600d ago

Might have to fire it up. Got it day 1, it was great to me.

outsider1624600d ago

See? Another reason why physical is important. Going all digital will have you miss out games like this.

Gabrielmpf600d ago

I loved tackling the leaderboards. It's a shame they couldn't even keep them.

Yi-Long600d ago

Brilliant game, I really miss it, and it deserved so much better than what Sony did to it.
Most important reason I liked it; It was FUN. That’s it. The actual gameplay, throwing a car around corners, the challenging AI opponents, the entertaining tracks which were peak-design, etc etc, it was above all just FUN to play.

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

darthv72871d ago

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut85871d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio871d ago (Edited 871d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack871d ago (Edited 871d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander1972871d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff2183870d ago (Edited 870d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim871d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Notellin57d ago

If Microsoft boosted several hundred 360/XB1 to 60 FPS without patching the games I'm sure the modder and therefore also Sony could do the same.

But PlayStation gamers aren't really worthy of receiving those kind of free updates according to Sony and the community. You guys enjoy paying for really easy things like a FPS boost and kneeling down to lick the boots.

Inverno871d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff2183870d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 57d ago
Chocoburger871d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai871d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC871d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.
