Lol. For you, just about anything MS does is "setting the benchmark"

If Sony is skipping Gamescom to have their own conference, how is that setting benchmark for anything?

Thats like saying MS set benchmark for showing up...

It depends on what type of games you liked. Many thought Sony stole the show with 3 bombshells at E3. It all depends on your preferences of games.

Why so sour bro? They showed halo wars, crackdowns beautiful power of teh cloud, scalebound and quantum break.

You can say the same about sonys e3, we knew about horizon, we knew about uncharted and tlg. We knew ff was coming and we also know its multiplat. Only thing we didn't know was a kick-starter game which has just begun development.

I would say Microsofts gamescom was better then sonys e3 imo.

@straya of course you would say they won both. However every major media outlet even the pro xbox ones awarded horizon best new ip. O yah ms was quick to report winning in sales week of e3 in na but got quiet at the end of the month when sony destroyed them as usual but sales dont matter right? Actually they do its how we (gamers) vote. O and I hope uncharted releases against qb and crackdown so it can completely destroy them both in sales and critic score as well.

I had no idea the last guardian was gonna be there.....in fact much of the Xbox camp was saying "let it go" or "its time to move on".

Horizon looked way better than expected, I mean it looked "best of e3" good.

.....dont make sh*t up, Who the hell knew final fantasy 7 remake was coming......I mean come on dude that sh*t was a blind side, and we don't know the conditions of its exclusivity, it might be full multiplat, it might be ps4 now and PC later just like the original ff7, hell it may even hit the NX like dragon quest 11 will.

Dreams by media molecule was very unexpected but that's just them doing what they do best.

Shenmue 3 was another blind side and I didn't see worlds of final fantasy coming either and square enix announcing nier 2 for ps4 was another at e3 blindside.

Uncharted and horizon were the only things I saw coming.

MS gamescom was better than their already great e3 but it wasn't on sonys e3 level.......well except for that stellar crackdown trailer.

At least you put IMO in your statement.

@rookie monster ROFL! You're cloud power is PATHETIC! ONE game with mediocre graphics, textures, and animations, that WON'T be released for OVER a year gets complete destruction in multiplayer mode ONLY and that's the big deal?! Have fun waiting for that. In the meantime, the rest of us will continue gaming on the more powerful AND popular gaming console. The very same console that has more higher rated games and more console exclusive games.

You are way Fanboy too much. I thought the show was great but there are some questions need to be answered and there are some flaws. I need to find out more. If Halo 5 come out, i'm going to accept to fight MLG halo player.

The one reason I would say it is because it is closer to me and if I ever wanted to go, its much easier than E3, also I don't have to stay up til 2am to watch a conference!

Not even close. The only thing TGS has is those generic, weirdo cartoony Japanese games. Japanese games are irrelevant. Western Games rule, western games has the cool big budget AAA realistic games that is what gamers actually like.

E3 is the biggest conference for gaming out there. Just way more media attention from the biggest markets like the UK, USA, etc. Gamescom by far is the second biggest one and then you have other niche shows like TGS, PAX, etc. And GAMENAMEFRAME you sound like a sony fanboy. MS came out at gamescom and showed nothing but games man. NOTHING but games for a good hour and all of their main presentations for big games were new IP. Sony skipping gamescom had more to say about their content being shit and not ready than anything else. I'm not impressed with them remaking a 20 year old game that's going to be multiplat anyway, kickstartering a niche game from 15 years ago, and a game like TLG which looks like an early PS3 game and has already had gameplay mechanics done like that in Brothers.

So even though Sony specifally stated that they are skipping gamescom because it is too soon after E3 isnt enough reason and you still have to make another completely illogical reason why they would skip it.

People tend to forget that fact Sony has studios:

Bend
QD
Santa Monica
Guerrilla Cambridge
Polyphone (Gran Turismo 7)
Sucker Punch

That are still working on games that we havent seen.

When did I say they didn't have studios? I said they skipped gamescom cause 1. They had no content to show, 2. the content they probably had ready was indie shovel ware and they knew they couldn't compete with MS with that crap. I have little doubt that PGS and probably PSX will be filled with games from their studios. I never said that their remaining conferences wouldn't. But they without a doubt skipped gamescom cause they knew they didn't have the content to compete with MS conference vs conference. Hell House even admitted his AAA IP's are sparse.

Biggest load of crap i've read in a long time. At least back up your arguments with facts, instead of passing your biased opinion as fact. it's been established LONG ago by sony that they will have a paris show in October which will be on par with Gamescom. They did this because the time between E3 and gamescom was too short.

You can't really say gamenamefame sounds like a fanboy then follow him right up by sounding like a fanboy...

If games like the final fantasy 7 remake or shenmue 3 don't impress you then that's OK, but that still doesn't finish their impact......hmm I wonder if your excited about phantom dust, a 13 year old franchise getting a reboot.

Also why is the last guardians graphics so important to you guys all of a sudden when all you have been screaming is about how its all about the gameplay.

The amount of exclusives Sony has in development dwarfs anything, reply and I would have no problem making you a list.

Based on the fact they moved from the second biggest conference of the year to a trade show with zero media outlets going to it and zero mainstream press. Sony didn't go to Gamescom cause they didn't have the content to put out playable gameplay demos. PERIOD. They even said they didn't have content ready for the show.

And why do I care what exclusives they have in development? Until I see these games announced, shown off on stage, and given release dates I really don't cares if they have a hundred studios making games. Again I have a PS4 and I don't doubt that PGS and PSX will be bring AAA exclusives, but to deny they skipped the second biggest conference for gaming and went to one that's not even close to it isn't a big deal is stupid.

Yes I'm not impressed by SE remaking a 20 year old game that's going to be multiplat and a kickstartered Shenmue game that's probably going to be 5 hours long cause they don't have enough money to make a proper sequel. MS's E3 was by far better than Sony's. Sony showed the best IP at the show in Horizon, but as far as a show with actual AAA games, MS destroyed them.

@ Rookie_Monster: It's of no surprise that you think MS won both shows. They could have shown just one game at each conference and that would still be your conclusion. As I continue to say, no matter how bi-partisan you claim to be, in PlayStation articles that you aren't trolling in, in Xbox topics, you REALLY show what you're about.

OT: To me, Gamescom will never be better than E3. It just doesn't have the build up, amount of content, nor media noise! That said, I think it is an excellent, European alternative, but just because Microsoft was the only one with a presentation this year, doesn't, somehow, put it before E3.

Yeah I'm obviously talking to someone who can't here me, I love how you internet analysts sit here on your computers and phone acting like you know exactly what's going on behind the scenes, its kinda embarrassing....... The truth is you know nothing and I mean NOTHING.

Everyone said since Sony was being quiet and MS was talking it up, that Sony had nothing to show at e3 while MS had everything, you were all very wrong.

Sony brought 3 of the 4 most requested games ever to their show, the only game missing was half life 3, while horizon zero dawn, dreams, nier 2, worlds of final fantasy, street fighter 5, multiplat bonuses and uncharted were just more layers to the cake.

In my opinion sony had the better e3 because it was just more exciting, less of what I expected and more of what I requested but that's just me.

Let's wait till after Sony's other 3 events this year before saying sony has nothing to show......it will be just like e3 all over again, tones will be changed, goal posts will be moved and the downplaying will be begin all over again.

Its just like the sony fanboys and the cloud/crackdown 3 situation.

Depends on what you mean by "biggest". The Gamescom in Cologne (Germany) stretches on a surface that almost dwarfs the E3 in LA's Convention Center...My sister who works in the gaming industry has covered both events, and while it may be a surprise to some, considering Los Angeles is such a huge metropolis, far larger than the city of Cologne, she told me the Gamescom showfloor is by far larger than the E3 one.

Gamescom definitely was pretty good this year. Microsoft came out there with a lot of good stuff and showed the top three big titles coming to xbox ScaleBound,CrackDown 3,and Quantum break.

Quantun Break looking like a very visually stunning game to play and enjoy the gameplay . Crackdown 3 blowing minds with destruction too.

Scalebound showing its a action rpg with heavy customization of your dragon and actual dragon armor.

Halo wars 2 reveal was a big shocker didn't see that coming.

All the titles like Forza 6,Tomb Raider, Halo5, Fable legends to name a few had lots of new information and videos which was great.

Even the B roll footage for master chief and blue team. Forza 6 rain video. Tomb raiders stunning gamescom demo released on xbox channel.

Just great stuff there.

Backwards Compatibility we got the announcement of the partners on board and more titles reveal.

Even Microsoft releasing details about Indie program having thousand devs there now.

Halo 5 console bundle which looked sick.

It was just a great show. But even EA showed some nice need for speed and VADER gameplay footage. Mirrors Edge gameplay.

We got a Mafia 3 reveal .

Oh yeah i forgot about the Chatpad coming out and Killer instinct season 3.

Rash from battletoads now in killer instinct was crazy with more guest appearances in season 3 apparently.

I mean, we can really just think of E3 and Gamescom this year as one big 3 hour show with no fillers and a couple of atomic bombs dropped with BC in the fist half, showing and announcing exclusives after exclusives in between and finally blows minds with The power of the Cloud demoed in real-time in the last hour to the World and everyone is still trying to recover as of today.

IMO, MS and Xbox won both conferences.
