The PS4 Error Plaguing Some Users

I'm guessing this is an error due to HDD errors.

No error here, no error with my brother's PS4.

Likely an HDD issue, not a big deal, u shouldn't be maxing out your HDD anyway. It's happening to some ppl with 20-30gb left generally, just prioritize and delete things u don't need.

With PS3 u needed twice the space of what u were trying to DL in order to DL it. Maybe it has to do with that?

Same here no issues at all with the PS4 its been almost flawless for watching Netflix and BluRays.

I had the same issue when i try to download patches. I was trying to download W3's 7 gb patch and I had to delete many gameplay vids. Still had the same issue then I proceeded to delete save files and some indie games. And alas it worked. And I'm affraid it will happen again and again.

Nothing console breaking but damn. It's so annoying. When will Sony stop fapping on sales and fix this and some other minor problems with PS4?

I thought it might be something like this, but from what I have found online, this isn't the case. Also, i cant see there being 50gb of unpacking space in some cases.

Well considering to download or install anything you need to have TWICE the available HDD space, so yeah it does have to unpack files

It was like that on ps3, on ps4 it doesn't need twice the hdd space to download our install a game.

It doesn't hold space back like they used to. As the article states, some people have 80GB of space and encounter this.

Haven't had this issue (yet?), but if it's any indication, I have a 2TB HDD in both of them and I've only used up about 500GB of space on the launch unit.

Curious, but it works just fine for me. Under what conditions are these issues present? I'd like to know if it's affecting certain HDD sizes, types, content, remaining space, etc.

I'm sure there's a legitimate problem, but I'm wondering if there are contingencies to this error.

Never had this error, but then again I rarely download big games.

The most annoying problem I have with my ps4 is the damn disc drive ejecting discs whenever it pleases. Tried tightening the screw, rebuilding the database, removing the rubber, and the on and off trick. Nothing gave it a permanent fix. And I can't send it to Sony due to my geographical location (no official sony store/headquarters here).

I've got a 2TB drive with about 300GB of games installed (I decided to go full lazy mode when I upgraded).

I'm thinking this has to do with HDD errors and not to do with how much space is left or total.

The only thing that fixed that for my first ps4 from launch was having in the upright position instead of laying down. My new white ps4 hasn't had that issue at all but I have it standing up.

2 errors that are plaguing me:

1. Not being able to access PlayStation store once I have launched a title. It just sits on an empty blue screen. No update has fixed this yet and googling shows tons of users are dealing with this.

2. Playstatuon network is terribly slow. Not only does the network test show inaccurate download and upload stats, but when I am downloading an item, it downloads at terribly sluggish speeds. I have a 50Mbps download internet service but PSN will download at around 10 to 20 Mbps. (PS4)

The store thing is probably your router do you use an all in one I have 50/5 TWC I think they are throttling ports I cant share play and when I go to DSL reports on my computer they have a simulated PSN share play test and it fails all the streaming test pass seems a bit fishy.

I have a 1TB aftermarket HDD in my PS4, but it's formatted as 860.9 GB. Does this error likely mean I can only use 810.9GB? That's dumb...

This is not just related to downloading files,it happens with the browser as well.It doesn't give me an error code but rather there'san out of memory notification,REALLY SONY?after the below minimal RAM assignment on the PS3 browser you still are applying this to 8GB of GDDR5 RAM?.I have a feeling it's related to the firmware/OS.

But it's being used as system RAM. The X1 has 8GB of DDR3 and the PS4 has 8GB of GDDR5. This is the bucket it has to use.

I've had this issue. Deleted loads of stuff, it still said there wasn't enough space.

However, after a reboot the issue was resolved :)

"some", could be no more then three people but of course when its comes to being an issue on Playstation it means the majority and its the end of the world.

Regardless sounds like a simple reboot resolves the issue, on to the next Sony doom and gloom article I guess.

I have 20Gb's and i've yet to ever see this message. Mind you my storage space has been under 30 for the past 4-5 months lol.

I don't know what you guys do to your PS4's but i play,download and update games with no issues man.

1-2TB was standard in most lattops when the PS4/XBO came out
1-3TB was standard in most desktops

2TB 2.5" drives have been around since the PS3 was released
You get get 6TB 3.5" drives now

Microsoft and Sony cheaped out big time! 500GB LAME

At least Microsoft and Nintendo let you save off console. Sony just gives you a error message to delete content WOW!

So this is kind of related but not really, i have no other place to find out because i cant find answers after searching everywhere, but has anyone else experienced issues with logging into elder scrolls online lately, i havent been able to log in for almost 4 days now...

Wow...well, at least it's not as bad as the yellow light of death.
Thankfully I never suffered from that, but my sympathy goes out to those that did.

But I digress; I'm sure Sony will solve this soon.
They've got smart technicians; they don't normally let things like this drag on too long.

I never seem to see these articles for Nintendo systems, thankfully...that's just one more issue Nintendo doesn't need after all the other PR problems they've got to contend with.XD
