But this offering from id Software isn't only a tribute; it takes enough risks to justify its return."
Evercade has teased a new DOOM release for their platform.
I hope they make a Doom themed VS unit with red lighting. it will be like the Duke 3d one they did a couple years ago.

Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

The video game industry is already so creative, but one thing that can be improved is its handling of space.
After watching Scavengers Reign? The answer is unequivocally yes. I really want something out of left field but I think people are too afraid to shake things up.
It's what I love about Shadowrun and Black Mirror. Love, Death, and Robots proved that there's an audience for stuff that doesn't fit the mold.
After their heroic efforts in bringing Wolfenstein back to its glory, I trust Doom is in good hands.
Please don't let it be COD in hell...

doom is back! looks fantasic
Does not look like old school doom at all. Looks like Halo. And what's up with those lame executions? Only slows down the gameplay. Everyone who played old school Doom like fast paced gameplay with no annoying slowdowns. That's why I hate Brutal Doom, it tweaked the gameplay crazy.
I don't know, I have a mixed feeling about this game now.
Doom had this eerie vibe, it inspired inexplicable fear. hell's doors are open somewhere, terror engulfed the world and unimaginable horrors and deaths lurk at every corner but, it was not all random and I emphasize on not-all-random.
walking through and exploring the world and the shift from modern human base stations to ancient ruins like structures made you feel that there was a plan at work bigger than you can fathom and you are only trying to survive this calamity and maybe you'll uncover what happened and have a shot at saving the word. it wasn't as if you were designed to be an unstoppable killing machine knowing exactly what's going on and how to fix it.
where is the fun in that?
Doom's demons; while there was mindless monsters others like the Arch-vile seemed aware and in control, as if they knew where they came from and what they were doing.
the environment and atmosphere added to it too. I remember when I first saw the satanic signs after some time and I thought my God there's something at work here and not just a random hell hole that needs closing and mindless zombies that needs killing. this frightening mystery changed my mood and raised my awareness and I loved it.
I may be putting too much mind in this but hey, I love the game, when I was little it was one of those games that leveled-up my gaming experience and change it forever.
I just hope it doesn't turn into another Call of Duty or a mindless soul-less shooter.
