I could easily see Comcast charging $250+ a month for something like this. Those c*cksuckers realized last year that over 80% of our metro area (300,000+ people) subscribed to Insight cable (because they were a GREAT provider), and booted Insight to rural Kentucky to take over our area, only to lower our bandwith speed (10Mbit/sec down to 6Mbit/sec), raise our rates and take away channels from Classic and make them premium. Those rotten pr1cks took away National Geographic and now want $14.99/month for that channel plus 20 other loser channels that no one watches.

Granted I don't wanna sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I do have an almost inhuman hatred for Comcast and an inconceivable amount of mistrust for my government. There are reasons why dozens of patents for water-based car engines (and their patent filers) have suddenly disappeared, while the basic make-up of an internal combustion engine hasn't changed for over a century (for all of our special friends in the oil industry).

This is damn fast but most of the time I run out of monthly download quota before i ever need to complain about speed.

If governments and ISPs want to truly change the industry then affordable 10+mbps speeds (presently achievable on standard telephone lines) PLUS unlimited download quotas will need to become the norm.

It is the limited download quota that is the real problem - not infrastructure!

Limits on downloads here in Australia suck majorly. We've just upgraded to ADSL2+ here, and the speed is way better than ADSL, but we still suffer under the same caps really. 30GB a month isn't enough! The maximum TPG offer is 100GB a month, and it costs $130 a month. :(

if you have then you will soon come to the realization that his theory is complete BS, hes wrong in almost every aspect. the book would have been good if I read it in 98 (when it was published), but since I just finished it like a month ago, not so good or believable. But this internet chip thing is pretty cool.

p.s. whatever happened to that other internet type thing, the grid, I think it was called? is this the same thing? also they still need to get fiber optic lines everywhere and I imagine that that would cost a lot of money, and time. don't expect super fast internet, for at least the next 5 years.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
