Great.. its going to be a hot mess on AMD GPUs now

Pandamobile3969d ago

Nothing's stopping AMD from lending a hand too...

uth113969d ago

except for the NDAs nVidia makes developers sign, blocking off portiions of the code...

Lamboomington3968d ago

@uth11

Yeah, gameworks code for features that are optional and most AMD users won't run anyway.

UltimateMaster3968d ago

This is totally how the gaming industry should work! Let NVIDIA fix all the issues that every single PC games have rather than having finished products. /s

It saves Warner Bros Studios money by outsourcing to a graphic card company. *facepalm*

Why bother encouraging broken products?
Obviously, NVIDIA cares about their bottom line and customer satisfaction, so they are putting the time and effort that... shouldn't even be their jobs to do so in the first place if the studio took their time and released an unbroken finished game.

Pandamobile3968d ago (Edited 3968d ago )

Well a lot of times it's Nvidia that is just proactive in what they do with game developers. I mean this is just what hardware companies do. They work with the software and entertainment guys to cater to their demands.

WB goofed pretty bad when they released the PC version of Arkham Knight. The game should have stayed in the over for another 4-6 months (probably) to get it right. But rather than delay it and face a bit of backlash, they decided to release it anyway and caused a way worse problem for themselves than they needed to.

except for AMD almost going bankrupt

Let,s be honest.
It can not get any worse on amd than it is right now...

So say thank you to your all and mighty powerful overlords NVIDIA!

Erik73573968d ago

This only sucks for the people who bought amd

starchild3968d ago (Edited 3968d ago )

There's no reason to think that. I ran plenty of TWIMTBP titles on my previous AMD cards just fine.

I hope people have realistic expectations for how this game should run once it's fixed. The game is always going to be demanding if you are running it at maxed settings with all the Nvidia graphical features turned on. It's a large open world game with advanced graphics, so being demanding is inescapable.

They need to eliminate stuttering due to poor asset streaming and highly variable frame times with large frame latency spikes. As long as it can run smoothly on a gsync monitor, for example, at whatever framerate your hardware is capable of...this is what we need to see. If a game stutters even on a gsync or freesync monitor it is due to very large frame latency spikes that shouldn't be there in an optimized game.

On the other hand, some people have this strange idea that every game should run at ultra settings at over 60fps on their midrange hardware and any game that doesn't is "poorly optimized". Not only is this completely unrealistic, it is also a hindrance to the progression of graphics on PC. Developers see this behavior and think "whelp if we really push the graphics and it ends up being demanding PC gamers are just going to complain that our game is poorly optimized".

People need to learn the difference between a truly poorly coded game and a game that is merely demanding due to the quality and scale of its graphics. Batman Arkham Knight on PC was both of those things --both poorly optimized and more demanding than usual due to the nature and scale of its graphics.

The 'poorly optimized' aspect of the game needs to be fixed, but the 'demanding' aspect will remain and I hope that some people don't confuse the latter with the former.

It shouldn't have gotten this far in the 1st place. Warner, Rocksteady and Nvidia knew the PC port was trash. They've lost mine and many others respect after this crap they pulled.

Peace_Love_and_FPS3968d ago

Nvidia would have no idea how development is going, except for word from WB who would say "yeah, going great!".

It's not their studio or their game, they just provide those exclusive features on NV cards to the dev team

Black0ut3968d ago (Edited 3968d ago )

Well hopefully they successfully fix it and by fix it I mean completely re-do the WHOLE game. Launch was a massive failure and I hope WB realise how much they let down Batman fans.

Never go on the cheap for any version of your game, especially one as big as Arkham Knight. Lets just hope that they learnt from this and never do it again. Oh and they better fix it for non nvidia GPU's or they're gonna hear from the PC crowd again :\

ninsigma3968d ago

Think I'm just gonna rent or buy second hand. It should never have released like that.

Spyroo3968d ago

Or simply get it from Piratebay, with latest patch it's playable on PC

Pixelart3968d ago (Edited 3968d ago )

Um no..

But I just released if I act like a tool I'll get lots of bubbles around here!

Nero21423968d ago

tee_bag2423968d ago

Lol 70 idiotic comments and an account created on 05 Apr 2015 but has 9 bubbles..

I dont think you should have been included in this conversation. Cant rent or buy PC games secondhand.

ninsigma3967d ago

I was getting it on pc (had it on pc but got it refunded) and I am not getting it second hand or rent it on console. Pretty sure that qualifies to belong :)

From the article
"“Warner Bros. made a couple of errors getting the game out,” he said. “It had not been completely performance enhanced for PC. "

Understatement of the year.

Well at least they are helping Rocksteady.

I would also add Risk of Rain 2 as long as you don't stray too far from a power source as each run can be long as the hours melt away. Another thing to note is that based on the reports, the FPS may drop into the 40s if a lot of enemies are on the screen.

There is also the Half Life series. If you haven't played half-life before then you can do so now at the super low price.

Mafia was amazing looking and had a great story. Played flawlessly at 30fps as well without dips 99% of the time.

The same is true for Jedi Fallen Order

Sony games as also on sale. Picked up Rachet and Clank, cant wait to try it!
