Star Citizen has been accused of having too many features and that those features will do it more harm than good in terms of development time and money invested. Star Citizen creator Chris Roberts responded with an announcement disagreeing since he sees this as the reason that people want to try Star Citizen in the first place.

The developer of Star Citizen launched update Alpha 4.7.1 and started a Free Fly Event, making the game free to play for a limited time.
Sure....since they raised close to a billion they don't even need to make a profit.
Feels like when at the mall people stop you to give you free products and once you accept they won't stop to follow you until you buy the rest ..... F-DAT !
I do wish they'd release this for PS5 Pro at the very least. I've been craving a good realistic space exploration game since Frontier Developments stopped supporting ongoing updates for Elite Dangerous on consoles. I put a ton of hours into that game and then they just stopped console support when the Odyssey update came out. Pissed me off LOL. I guess I'll get back into No Man's Sky for the time being since there's a bunch of new stuff since I've last played.
I didn't even realise you had to pay. Who on earth is paying to play a game that is still in alpha over a decade on 😂
Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games fully unveiled and made available one of the most anticipated ships of its lineup, the MISC Hull B.
The whimsical April Fool's prank by Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games hid a piece of actual news that many have been waiting for.
Star Citizen is one of the biggest space universes any game have featured so many features are a must-have for this game
Exactly, it seems like at some point we went from backers who used to play these games 15-30 years ago when the genre still existed, and wished for these things, and so when Roberts talked about them, we were like hell yeah....
...to now somewhere along the line, people either weren't aware of this, because they got caught up in it at like the 20-30 million raised mark or whatever and missed much of that beginning explanation because at that point there was so much info and hype out there it would be an easy thing to overlook.
I for one am glad he's doing it, that's what I backed, and I'm glad he's sticking to his guns.
Yeah I've already upgraded my GPU, and odds are, will again before it finally releases, but hey, we don't need the game being rushed. Let it take a couple of years if it needs to.
By the time SC is finished people will have their own real space ships.
