Ladies and gents, meet Smart Boy, the Game Boy-inspired smartphone. Designed by Pierre Cerveau, it has everything a Nintendo lover could dream of giving a phone, from power-saving 8-bit mode to a ‘Game Bat’ controller that basically turns the thing into a DS. I might actually cry because this beautiful phone will probably never be made.

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).
Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.
Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo completed its share repurchase and set its secondary offering price at 8,347 yen ahead of March 16 delivery.

Nintendo filed a lawsuit in the United States Court of International Trade.
Nintendo of America is suing the United States government over the sweeping tariffs President Donald Trump put in place last year, according to a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. Court of International Trade and obtained by Aftermath.
LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.
Only thing they'd need to work on is the attachment for the buttons...it seems a little uncomfortable.
I think it would be better if it was on the bottom of the phone, not the side.
So...a smart phone with a bluetooth controller. We already have these...with all the gameboy and N64 emulators (amongst others) you could shake a stick at.
Its great being able to play android, nintendo, classic arcade and commodore titles all on the one portable device. I prefer my mobile device to have cross gaming compatibility since I take it everywhere!
Looks awesome, sadly the button layouts look highly uncomfortable. If they were split to the left and right side, then yes.
no physical controller should ever attached to a smartphones.
nvidia shield see to that. sonys with that xperia mounting somewhat see to that also.
by the time you define "hardcore gaming" to your smartphones, you already lost the battle for casual market, the one nintendo should aiming for, and any company that want to compete in the smartphones.
Not bad
