Why The Red Ash Kickstarter is Completely Absurd

The Red Ash Kickstarter is going relatively slowly, as it kind of deserves to. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or years of experience in the field to tell that it’s poorly timed and planned.

Don’t get us wrong. We don’t wish failure on any game developer, especially not when they’re making a game we're really interested in. No matter how much you want to see a Mega Man Legends successor though, it doesn’t change the fact that this whole project comes across as half-baked. Red Ash‘s Kickstarter plans needed more time under wraps and in the drawing room before they went public with them.

HUGE MML fan, and I want this to be good, but I do feel it was rushed into crowdfunding.

At least show some gameplay, Mighty No 9 is not even out and Red Ash is only a concept at this point. I think Inafune should have waited.

How can they show gameplay of a game that is only in concept form?

The funding is very much to help pay for that early on.

Wait for what? 2 months? They have some staff that are legit getting no work as Mighty No 9 is likely already done and going through certification.

One top of that, the pre-production team are very much free to actually start doing concept work on Red Ash as they've been done with Mighty No 9 for months now, the game won't just be getting art and story done up until the last day lol.

Doesn't work that way.

I backed it as soon as I heard it was happening on Kickstarter.

I don't know what Mighty No 9 being out or not does to Red Ash....they are not the same game.

Worst timing ever. This should have been started in early 2016.

That and opinions about Mighty No.9 are quite mixed because it looks very different from the first concept artworks that were used for the kickstarter campaign.

It's not unusual for concept art to look nothing like what makes it into a game, but I can understand some backers being annoyed by change since they paid into it expecting that concept specifically.
