Sony does have a lot of potential exclusives, but that website was a little off:

"David Jaffe’s Eat Sleep Play- Three exclusive games for Sony, and Twisted Metal is not one of them."

I thought that Twisted Metal for PS3 was already confirmed by Jaffe, but this site is saying that Twisted Metal is "NOT" one of the 3 exclusive games from Eat, Sleep, Play?

Well, that site definantly has a few misprints.

Anyways, there's one potentially BIG game that they left off, and it's a game that I've noticed a lot of people are forgetting about, the 3rd party exclusive from Digi-Guys, WARDEVIL. That game looks like it could be another God of War 3, and currently it has a 2009 release, and they released a trailer earlier this year... but many people didn't really get too much from the trailer... still, that game looks like it could be pretty incredible.

...If that's not a killer team, then I don't know what is.

I like how Sony deals with stuff. Make a lot of first party games until the third parties start to get the hang of cell and then tone it down. Great plan.

Man I can't wait until the secret amazing game is revieled even if it is Heavy Rain I still will be totally happy because that game looks better then a freaken CGI.

Whatever it will be it's going to be a FPS, bet money on it. That's all Sony knows anymore. They can't toss a dime towards securing a good or even decent RPG or Adventure game. It's all about the FPS for Sony and all in hopes they can get the one FPS that will finally be able to top Halo.

It's a joke really. Before too long Sony is going to require everything be made FPS just to best Halo. That's why the only thing good about the ps3 right now is the PSN. It's even better than the disc based games Sony has for us.

Xi that's 6 vs. 19+ First and 2nd party developers (I don't think NCsoft was mentioned). You don't even need to do the math. 13 extra exclusive games per year to compete against is next to impossible in any game book. Every ONE of MS's games would have to be a 8.5 or above to stand a chance. You are looking at a difference in library content of 52+ titles by the end of year 4. To top that off, everyone of studios are seasoned (with the exception of Media Molecule). MS is already discounted in my book. The fact that they are holding off bungie's announcement for Leizpeg tells me their books are thin.

now if you ask me sony has a lot of studios in their hands. but one more wouldn't hurt either so...i think they sony should make use of that bank money, and buy sega/sammy.

now many of you here are probably wondering why sega and not some other 3rd party studio? lets simply think things here,now sega is nearly in the red and as it currently stands it could turn out to be a cheap deal for both sides if it were to go down.

if sony were to buy sega than, not only will they bolster their line up of properties, but also own a good portion of the retro market as well.

with such old platforms like sega master, genesis, saturn and even the dreamcast sony could also implement these old platforms to their playstation store.

which would than put them nose to nose with nintendo's very own virtual console as well as xbox live arcade.

also did i mention their portfolio of games will bolster?

now you combined these properties together, and sony would really have no reason or need to chase down for 3rd party exclusives.

in all honesty sony should consider buying sega now while its struggling financially. than take a brake and go about business on reducing costs on the ps3. That's what i would do if i ran things at sony. anyways just my opinion guys tell me what you all think okay.

PS3 has Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, and Motorstorm 2. XBOX 360 has Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead, since I like zombie games.

I don't know who has the better lineup, but I don't see anyone exactly killing anyone.

2008 was suppose to be a dominate year for PS3. If Dominate means they aren't getting killed like they were in 2007, then I guess.

But by no means is PS3 blowing the roof of the house with their 2008 lineup.

Interesting point but short of Shenmue, most of Sega's title lineup are Midway quality at best.

look at this point in time one could say sega has had midway quality titles, but that's based on current reviews of recent releases, even sony and ms has had their share of bad releases thus far.

shenmue is a good title, but while the game was recognize for its potential it sold less than some of segas other properties.

skies of arcadia
and phantasy star online are great ip's that deserve a face lift, and who better to give em that, than sony.?

titles such as golden axe, toe jam n earl,out run, monkey ball and zombie revenge don't necessarily have to be big budget games, in this day and age they can become psn games and grow a fan base in that department.

shinobi to was and sill is a game with lots of potential, at the time of its ps2 incarnation well..this game was too big for the ps2 now moving ahead shinobi could be that title to give ninja gaiden a run for its money if done and funded properly.

virtua fighters while not the king of fighters is a big favorite in japan, and if sony does acquire sega than a virtua fighters vs tekken could than become possible. and that there will sell loads in japan and else where.

yakuza 3 was well received in japan when it launched a few months back so.. to me this says this game isn't midway quality. not only did it sell well, but the reviews also looked real good as well.

house of the dead if using the tech being used for killzone 2 will blow socks off many people.

virtua tennis is pretty much like the madden of tennis so.. yeah this isn't exactly a midway title either.

all these are great ips that just need the support and funding done right, i mean these are all good games,

streets of rage remake for the psn what? you how well would a game of that magnitude will do for the psn?

and now White Knight Story, these guys just KNOW RPGs, and Sony NEEDS a first party RPG house.

after Alundra 1 and 2, Sony just seemed to stop making RPGs. probably because the cost and time needed to make an RPG are high, but when you have a reliable company like Level 5 on the job, you shouldn't have to worry. White Knight Chronicles was supposed to be a Playstation 3 LAUNCH title, but Level 5 saw that they'd have to cut the title in half to reach that date, and they didn't want to compromise the quality of their vision just to have one more game for the PS3's launch.

it seems a lot of Sony's first and second party studios have that attitude, so they take their time with these games, and barring a few misses (like Lair; but Factor 5's track record is spotty at BEST), the quality of first party titles on the PS3 FAR outshines the quality of 3rd party titles on the PS3 (pop in Resistance, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Folklore, Ratchet and Clank Future, and Uncharted, and tell me that those games just don't have that extra level of POLISH, in more than just graphics, that 3rd parties just aren't reaching on the PS3, or ANY console, honestly).

for me, it's enough to know that Sony has over 30 first and second party developers out there across the world, each of them working on at the LEAST, two Playstation 3 exclusive titles.

sure, i'd like to know what they are, and when they're coming, but it's not like i'm starving for anything to play on my various gaming platforms (PS3, 360, and PSP), and i can always busy myself with, you know, reading a BOOK or sleeping with my fiance (i know, i know, sacrilege to mention the "B" word in a gaming site).

this late summer, fall lineup is already crowded enough. how many more games do we NEED to come out this fall. i have no idea how i'm going to afford the ones i listed in a previous post in this thread, let alone MORE titles crammed into this overstuffed holiday season.

Sony, and ANY developer/publisher, has to pace their releases so they won't not only cannibalize other titles in their library, but other titles on the market also.

Konami wouldn't release MGS4 the same day or month as GTAIV would they? so why would Sony release all of their killer 1st and 2nd party exclusives in such a close time frame?

if it wasn't for the diverse gameplay of Resistance 2, Motorstorm: PR, Little Big Planet, and SOCOM: Confrontation, i'm pretty sure they would have been spread out across the year more. as it stands, the audiences for all four of those games can either intersect (ie, i plan on getting ALL of them, while another gamer may just pick up Resitance 2, and ignore the other 3, or Little Big Planet, and ignore the other 3) or separate. LBP has the potential to be the game that has that broad appeal magic consumers will gobble up, and for a brief moment, it could take the spotlight off of the Wii over here in the US, if only for a moment. that is, if Sony really pushes advertising for that game.

anyway, my original point was that Sony needs to buy Level 5 before they become so big they don't NEED to be bought. or at least try and bring them into a friendly second party relationship, like how Insomniac has with Sony. Level 5 already shows an affinity for developing for Playstation consoles (over 90% of their body of work is exclusive to Playstation consoles/handhelds), so might as well make the "engagement" official, right?

Every one talks about FF7 remake, but there are more then 100 fun games of PSone that they could make a remake for the PS3.

sony is in the best position of all 3 companies since 90% of third party games will be on xbox and ps3. so sony has a great advantage in the fact that their game division alone is bigger then m$ and nintendo's combined

look both gears and resistance 2 will move systems this fall thats for sure, i don't know how some of you can sit here and say that either of those games didn't succeed.

the first gears of wars game did move lots of 360's and may i say at the time consoles were more expensive.

same for resistance to this date resistance remains one of the best selling ps3 titles and its nothing more than a launch title.

also the only thing that woew people at e3 this year coming out of sony's press was the trailer of resistance so that says a lot.

considering how many people are still playing both of these games online and growing by the numbers, i say both these games will move units this fall. mark my words lol im a man of my word...lol

i also see socom confrontation and littlebigplanet as system movers as well, i mean for once the majority of the socom fan base are still gaming on the ps2, and we all know all they want is the next socom to come out so they can go out and get it. its that simple.

its funny how some of you downplay the significance of these titles, if you all do some research you will find that after COD4 and halo3,GTA4 gears of war is the most played 360 game.

after COD4 and warhawk, GTA4 resistance is still one of the most played games on the ps3 to this date and you guys have the nerve to say these games wont move units? lol..

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
