We've put about 8 hours into it and it's been fine. We left it in the menu idle for four hours today with the camera panned over the car to test it and there's no major noise or overheating.

That's great. :)
But I definitely will not be downloading or playing this game till an official fix comes in.
That's not to say I do not appreciate your post, I'm just not about to risk damage to my system. Looking forward to eventually trying the game, though!
