PlanetSide 2 PS4 Review

Eurogamer:

PlanetSide 2 may well be the greatest war game ever. Not because it has slick mechanics, memorable technology or even innovative ideas, but because it understands and portrays war in a way that few other games have managed.

I tend to agree with the article, probably the most realistic portrayal of warfare in videogames.
A great addition to the PS4 library.

It makes you feel like an ant in a massive war. Its very hard to make your own mark on the battlefield unless you have a big squad. Lone wolves won't make much of a difference but an organised team of lethal falafel eating ninjas can make an impact.

Its f2p so definitely no harm in trying it but beware, it can be very costly buying the items you need and I would only recommend doing so if you have a dedicated group of friends to play this.

Tried it, played for a couple of minutes, deleted it after horrible 'quad bike' ride thru the ugly looking world. Not my cup of tea, I guess.

Sound like the typical modern gamer. Back to COD you go!

You couldn't be more wrong. I do not play CoD. Right now I'm deep in Witcher 3 and started playing Batman Arkham Knight, so... getting some rest from shooters.

The scale is incredible, you can have fun just driving around in a sunderer with anti aircraft flak cannons/ammo restock. I love being lone wolf perimeter anti-air support. You could totally specialize in something completely different though. The choices are fairly robust. Nothing like it on console and definitely not ugly. The light rays on hossin are impressive.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the statement "You could totally specialize in something...". People like to complain about not being able to lone wolf it. But, that's really not what this game is about. Plus, you COULD be the one that changes the tide of a particular battle. I've witnessed coordinated forces with bombers and fighters clearing the way for Galaxy troop drops...all the while tanks are tearing away at external defenses. It can get pretty intense.

Tried it day 1. Couldn't see what the fuss was all about, since it does nothing that hasn't been done before. It's not a bad game, by any means, I guess, but darn is it generic as hell. Being an MMO game with overpriced crap doesn't help.

They sold the entire company. I did like when they ran Everquest as well. But numbers were declining unfortunately

Watch it turn out to be Amazon in disguise

Was such a cool concept back in the day - shame that it never really took off like it probably could have with more support
