Those that hoped to pick up a Dark Pit Amiibo pre-order before its launch day will be out of luck, as Bestbuy confirmed today that the new amiibo will not be available for pre-order at any time and will only be available for purchase at a Bestbuy location beginning on its release date. There was no reason given for this choice; however, it may be possible that Bestbuy hopes that stores are better-stocked on release date rather than allocating a large amount of stock to online orders.
Currently, there is no release date for Dark Pit in North America, but the superstition is that the figurine will launch on Friday, July 31st.

A new amiibo has its release date from Nintendo, and pre-orders have started revealing the price and how it's the most expensive figure ever.

NE: "Nowadays, amiibo cost more than ever, and they don't offer many more in-game bonuses than before. Should Nintendo switch to cards instead?"
Everything Nintendo doesis expensive these days. This company loves to gouge pockets. What’s sad, people willing to pay for it.
I used to collect amiibos, especially the Smash Brothers ones. Ended up with nearly 100 of them. Eventually sold them all to a collector. I pick and choose which Amiibos to purchase nowadays, but usually it's the Zelda ones.

Upcoming amiibo figures from Nintendo appear to have received an official price cut - here are the new prices.
Nintendo gets away with murder when it comes to its game prices . They're still selling some of their last gen games for full price.
£74.99 ($100) Switch 2 games didn't last long in the UK and games on key cards are annoying. Amiibo has been problematic from the start, prices a bit high, then the scalpers get hold of them, not forgetting stupid regional exclusives. On top of that, the content you get is fairly poor, then you have a figure gathering dust. For us poor gamers (me), Nintendo should've released Amiibo without the figures, just the bases showing who was who. I paid into a few of them during the Wii U era, but not Switch. With all of this, why would Nintendo be bothered?
Scalpers
Deal with it
This is good news.
Products that are this limited should not be preorderable. The preorders sell out 30 minutes after they are opened and usually open without warning, and this means that people who were busy and could not preorder them absolutely have to order from scalpers.
At least without preorders, everyone is on an even playing field, and people who would have been unable to preorder will still have a chance of getting it in store.
Dumb. Amiibos aren't suppose to be limited/hard to get like they are. Atleast with the way amazon did it, it was pretty good. granted, you had to have been off or free, but still.
I know I don't want to go to Best Buy at 5AM in the morning, just to wait outside to buy him. I'm sure they have maybe 20 or so of him.
Nintendo needs to beef-up Amiibo production.... and not like they did with Marth, where your local gamestop got 1 and was sold out before it opened.
