Miyamoto: Star Fox Zero Controls Will Take Some Getting Used To

"In a recent interview with a German publication, Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Star Fox, stated that the controls for Star Fox Zero will take some getting used to. Miyamoto pointed out that a few minutes at an expo is not an ideal amount of time to get the grasp of Star Fox' controls. Miyamoto stated that it may take "one or two days" to really understand the controls of Star Fox" -- Nintendo Enthusiast.

Ok, i get it...utilize the gamepad, but there are other ways to make it a cinamtic experience. I just dont like the idea of having to worry about flying and aiming with the gamepad while playing...

ChickeyCantor3977d ago

You can also use the control stick to aim. Calm the f down people.

gerbwmu3977d ago

This would be awesome in a Star Wars game! Flying the Millenium Falcon with the pro controller attacking the empire. Your buddy on the couch with the gamepad controlling the gun turret keeping Tie Fighters off your back side.

I can't wait to see how this turns out. Too bad so many gamers will flip out over the change and proclaim more hate for the system.

Not a problem. I played many games were people said the controls suck but adapt to so easy.

specifically Kid Icarus: Uprising. One of the best players too.

kakashi813977d ago

Now that I think about it, kojima studios should have developed the game.

ZeekQuattro3977d ago

I will most likely just turn the gyro off but that might change. Initially I heard Splatoon's controls were tricky until I played it myself and found them easy. Now I can't imagine playing it without motion controls. Star Fox Zero could be the same.

Miyamoto is one of the grandfather's of the industry, he knows that Nintendo is on borrowed time making video games as the tastes change and in 20 years time everybody will be streaming games on Game Pass.

Nintendo is showing great foresight moving into focusing on family friendly movies, a Kirby movie could help Nintendo become bigger than Disney. I speak for everyone on N4G when I say that Nintendo, rather than waste time churning out more milquetoast, it should sell the rights to making games with its IP to Microsoft Game Studios. Can you imagine the quality of games and the output frequency if Microsoft was making games with Nintendo IP? You could have a new Zelda and Mario and Pokemon EVERY year. Just think, a new Zelda game made with one of the best RPG game engines in the world, the Creation Engine by Bethesda. You could even have franchise crossovers like Master Chief appearing in Mario and shooting everything, so you don't have to solve stupid puzzles. The possibilities are endless. 🤞🏼

Nintendo is showing great foresight moving into focusing on family friendly movies, a Kirby movie could help Nintendo become bigger than Disney. I speak for everyone on N4G when I say that Nintendo, rather than just taking a long time churning out hits, it should create an alliance to making games with its IP with Sony Studios. Can you imagine the quality of games and the output frequency if Sony was helping to make games with Nintendo IP? You could have a new Zelda and Mario and Pokemon EVERY 3 years. Just think, a new Zelda game made with one of the best game engines in the world, the Decima Engine by Guerrilla Games. You could even have franchise crossovers like Astrobot or Ratchet appearing in Mario and shooting everything, so you don't have to solve stupid puzzles. The possibilities are endless. 🤞🏼

Your post was so ridiculous that I had to respond. Why would Nintendo want to lose all that money and profits selling their IP to a losing brand and an unprofitable service like game pass. Nintendo is not stupid. The company that has lost 4 generations to Nintendo or Sony isn't even worth working with when the Microsoft brand is dying.

As for Miyamoto, games don't stop working. Maybe the translation is bad. But if it's true, it's a dumb comment from an industry leader.

VenomUK210d ago (Edited 210d ago )

@ApocalypseShadow - Thank you for sharing your feedback. What are your thoughts about, going forward, Microsoft should now make all Nintendo games and annualise them, and the part about Halo's Master Chief should appear in Super Mario games to allow you to avoid puzzles by shooting everything instead?

They'll definitely stop running if y'all keep going after emulators and rom sites smh. Also movies get lost to history too. You got fans and pirating to thank for any effort being put into preserving movies. If not for them we'd be stuck with watching heavily re-edited versions of classics. It's so weirdly backwards to say that too when games have overtaking movies for years now smh

Miraak82 211d ago

SMB movie made almost a billion and a half on a 100 mil budget , I'm sure Zelda if done right will make even more as it has a wider appeal . Easy money if they put a N branded quality movie every few years . Hopefully we'll eventually get a Metroid movie.

"Games eventually stop running when newer versions come out,"
Only if you make live service slop or online only single player games.

My classic Nintendo cartridge systems still run fine...

By making pretty much only AA games so they can sell them for the same price as AAA games.

By being threatened by dev teams innovating on formulas found in your cash cow, but are either afraid or lack the talent to implement themselves

cthulhucultist554d ago

Well with the exception of Zelda and Xenoblade Chronicles series, Nintendo first party games are usually less demanding (see Arms, Nintendo sports series 2d kirby + mario games, Mario sports series, Warioware, Mario Party etc).

Zelda doesnt even have voice acting for its characters most of the time and its games use simpler textures than lets say Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us, Gears of War 5 etc which means that the development costs are lower.

Even so, their games are generally polished and well thought of and as the Switch generation showed, many of their franchises actually grew considerably in sales (Kirby , Xenoblades, Metroid etc).

FinalFantasyFanatic553d ago

I still love Zelda, and Mario Kart/Party is always a good time as well, although Nintendo isn't chasing hyper realistic graphics like a lot of the other studios are.
