Fallout 4's "basically done" - Bethesda explains that 2015 release date

We all knew Fallout 4 was coming. But despite the whispered rumours of a 2015 release, it was more hope than belief that would actually happen.

I knew it was going to be this fall, just as I knew it was going to be announced at E3 this year. It didn't take a rocket scientist to see it lol.

AliTheSnake13977d ago

Let's hope it is not a Bugfest. Giving their history.

yellowgerbil3977d ago

yeah hated all those radroaches...

aLucidMind3977d ago

It will be... I hate being cynical sometimes lol.

Zeref3977d ago

It's Bethesda. It's gonna be infested with bugs.

mikeslemonade3977d ago

Wow it's basically done!? Did everyone really turn their eye when they saw more gameplay at the Microsoft E3 conference.

WHen I say that looks like Fallout 3 quality, I'm not lying. Robotic looking enemies, bad graphics, and underwhelming gameplay.

Y'all are drinking the koolaid and need to pump your brakes.

Hold_It3977d ago

That's cool and all but when are we getting Final Fantasy Dissigia?

aLucidMind3977d ago

Not enough information to judge. It was obvious with Fallout 4 because Bethesda has said they planned to work between TES and Fallout in a cyclical manner (obviously, I'm paraphrasing) back around Fallout 3 was the new thing. FO3's GotY edition released, Skyrim releases two years later. Skyrim Legendary releases, I hypothesized that it was most likely going to be FO4 two years later.

Bethesda announced their first ever E3 conference, which confirmed it for me as we all know FO4's anticipation was already at fever pitch. Then it was said they're going to discuss an RPG, which proved to me that I was right.

The information was there, and it was rather obvious to me.

_-EDMIX-_3977d ago

lol, agreed. It was one of those known things gamers sorta all knew was happening.

JamesBroski3977d ago

That was a freaking good move from Bethesda. I just hope everything goes according to the plan and it doesn't get delayed.

ZaWarudo3977d ago

Yep. Bethesda came out of nowhere, officially announces Fallout 4 with a gameplay trailer, shows a ton of gameplay at E3, and drops a friggin bomb with the 2015 release date.

oasdada3977d ago

Lets just hope that bomb doesnt explode in our faces! I dont want to download patches the size of a full game

Cra2yey33977d ago

Basically done, then it comes out broken with glitches and bad framerate...

VJGenova3977d ago

They have 4-5 months to get the kinks out. Hopefully that's long enough. The Witcher 3 needed quite a bit longer when it was "basically done".

deadpoolio3163977d ago

Except we know Bugthesda doesn't look for bugs and glitches EVER in any game hence why EVERY Fallout and Elder Scrolls game comes out broken for 3-6 months on every platform...

Maybe they should spend the extra time actually doing QA on their game, instead of their usual.. Does it start up, YES sweet ship it.

VJGenova3977d ago (Edited 3977d ago )

For people that disagreed with me, let's look at my comment:

1. They have 4-5 months to get the kinks out. Fact! Doesn't mean they will, but they that's how long they have.

2. Hopefully that's long enough. Opinion. You hope it takes longer then?

3. The Witcher 3 needed quite a bit longer when it was "basically done." Fact. It was delayed twice to get the kinks out.

So everyone who disagrees with my prior comment hopes it takes longer than 4-5 months to get running well. I for one, hope it runs well at launch. Won't be a day 1 purchase just in case, but I can hope! :-)

JamesBroski3977d ago (Edited 3977d ago )

@Genova84

I bought Fallout 3 and Skyrim both at release and even though I encountered bugs, none of them were game breaking.

Bethesda literally waited the last moment to announce it, I'm sure they know what they're doing and if the game won't be acceptable for a launch, they will delay it.

What people don't get, like deadpoolio316, is that those worlds are freaking huge (and I'm not talking about the actual size of the map, but the quests, items, loot, etc) and since there are so many possibilities, it's impossible for them to test everything. Todd said that he has more than 400 hours into the game and still discovers things that he didn't even know were in the game. And he's working on it.

Most of the bugs are going to be found by the gamers and reported to Bethesda so they can work on them.

And "basically done" is a pretty vast statement. Not because CD Projekt Red said that means that Bethesda won't be ready. But I get what you mean man. Seriously, everyone here is on a "disagree" rampage.

sweendog3977d ago

People are disagreeing with you because its Bethesda, not because of what you said. Give them ten years to polish out the bugs and it will still be a buggy mess.

Oblivion is one of my favorite games ever and I will pick fallout 4 up on release.

But I know I will end up with quest items in my inventory that are pointless as the recipient of said quest items wont accept it. Ill just shoot said person in the face instead. Its all part of the Bethesda charm.
My main fault with the Witcher is when the same bug happens that I said above I cant lose my temper and just kill everyone, I have to take it out on the goats and geese in the villages

JamesBroski3977d ago

They've been working on it for a while... it's not like the PC version is being outsourced by 12 people.

camel_toad3977d ago

They have to be fully aware of people's perception of their history of releasing bug-ridden games so Im really hoping they are testing the hell out of it. Bugs or not though Ive no doubt this game is going to consume me.

aLucidMind3977d ago

They were familiar with their reputation before Skyrim was announced... The Civil War main quest line still has a bug that can prevent it from continuing past a certain point.

WizzroSupreme3977d ago

Wow, well, hopefully these next few months will mean them polishing it like crazy.

TheColbertinator3977d ago

All Fallout fans are just asking for polish. Bethesda games are known for heavy bugs on launch. Not counting Fire Ants.

immoracle3977d ago

As long as bugs aren't game breaking, ie important characters falling to their deaths without interaction from player, then I don't mind them so much.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot186d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder186d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain186d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
