oh no, I had read that this studio was safe from the cutbacks Meta was making. These guys were supposedly working on the sequel to Arkham Shadow. I wonder if this kills that project or not.

Notellin114d ago

If you lay off the entire team besides a few engineers it's a safe bet to say the project died with the team.

Eonjay113d ago

One would think you are correct. We do know that is the dream of the mega corporations that you can get a skeleton crew of 5 people to do the work of 50 or 500 with the 'powa' of AI.

Don't be mistaken. This is their dream. If you disagree with the plan Nvidia CEO would say you are hurting society.

Neonridr112d ago

turns out it wasn't even this studio that was working on the sequel. It was another one that was shut down. Such a shame, that Quest game was amazing.

Sad. I loved the game they created.

Interview with Matt Walker of Camouflaj, Developers Behind Marvel's Iron Man VR

WTMG's Leo Faria: "In our humble opinion, the best VR from 2022 wasn’t exactly a new title. Sure, there were bangers like Moss: Book II and Cities VR, but the one title that stood out above everything else was the Quest 2 port of Iron Man VR. While we did like the game while it first came out for PSVR years ago, it had its flaws, namely stemming from the actual hardware. The Quest 2 port fixed most of these issues, being prettier, better performing, and most importantly, portable. We were finally free to move around as Tony Stark whenever, wherever and however it wanted. It’s easily one of the main killer apps for the Quest 2 alongside Resident Evil 4.

Naturally, we just wanted to know more about the game and its porting process. We reached out to Camouflaj in order to interview the game’s Director of Production, Matt Walker, who was kind enough to answer our questions regarding the game’s pitching phase, the advantages of the Quest 2 over the PSVR, as well as his opinions on the future of VR and Camouflaj in general."

I can only hope that Meta is willing to get some extra revenue and decides to port Iron Man to PSVR2.

EverydayJoe1179d ago

I missed this one on PSVR, but I don't think I will set it up to play it with PSVR2 release right around the corner. I really hope they being this one over to it.

I always said that MS should have purchased Twisted Pixel way back when they made MS Splosion Man.

Not sure what they have been up to lately, but I loved the humor found in their games.

Vits1307d ago

They have been basically a VR studio for the last half a decade or so.

coolbeans1307d ago (Edited 1307d ago )

But MS actually *DID* purchase them close to Ms. Splosion Man's release. Later, both parties came to a mutual split around the mid-2010s and Twisted Pixel moved their attention to VR.

gangsta_red1307d ago

I believe you're right! I vaguely recall a story a while back of them parting ways. I probably left a comment here on N4G way back of how disappointed I was to hear it.

Meta is getting kind of serious about ramping up their gaming division it seems.

crxss1307d ago

that's literally every business right now

Christopher1306d ago

@crxss: yeah.... The article says that too. But doing this sort of adjustment isn't at all good and especially in the specific arena of Meta's VR teams.

Star511307d ago

Oh they mean business. This should be interesting

Outside_ofthe_Box1307d ago

Oh no. We need Microsoft to look at what Meta is aiming to purchase so that they can buy 'em before Meta can so that they can save us from Facebook.

ApocalypseShadow1307d ago (Edited 1307d ago )

Lol. But in all seriousness. Companies better start looking, or should I say, should have been looking years ago in getting VR developers that are already knowledgeable in VR. I always thought Sony should have been looking at Survios. They can crank out multiple types of games at a decent quality. With help and more time to cook, they could really be a great catch. And not rush things.

Camouflaj did well in working around PS Moves lack of 360 tracking. Shows initiative and creativity. Twisted is a good catch too. Armature did what Capcom is already capable of doing. So, I'm not as impressed with that one.

But it took Facebook long enough. Pushing music DLC and Ready at Dawn not making anything yet for Quest wasn't going to work for long. The race is on and let the competition begin.
