Hmmmm... this is the first bad thing I have heard about VR at E3. Don't believe me? Look up hands on demos of Morpheous at E3. Most people say that they had an awesome experience. Sony has the game studios to back it up too. With recent rumors like Media Molecule and Naughty Dog working with Morpheous; I see it becoming a success.

VR right now is pretty much a first person video game placed into a visor.

First people say sony better not show a lot of vr at their conference and they don't and now people are made because they didn't?

I look up Morpheus on Google or Bing and I get good reviews for Rigs and the device in general, and rave reviews about a demo called "Kitchen", and people seem to like Summer Lesson's interactivity as well.

Where's the disappointment everyone apparently felt?

VR is a niche produkt and always will be as long as you have to wear a clunky "helmet" to play.
Don't get me wrong the tech is awesome and there certainly will be fun games to play, whether on occulus, morpheus or elsewhere. But I don't see myself getting home from work, exhausted and ready to play games laying lazy on the couch by using this "helmet" where I need to sit straight or even stand.
It would be a dust collecter only getting into action in the first days of hype and at some occassions when I am in the mood for it.
It is no product for the masses yet. I think we'll have to wait for the 2nd or 3rd itteration where the tech shrinks and becomes more handy to get interesting for the masses.

Same thing goes for Hololens:
Awesome tech but also a "helmet". I jump on that ship if the field of view is wider and the glasses are smaller.

I once was curious about the occulus rift. Enough curious to order the first prototype available. I'm a big game player. I played pretty much any triple A game out there. Battlefield, COD, skyrim,f1 series,the witcher series, mass effect even flight sims.I was excited to try flight sim with the occulus. I put the helmet on. It was , at first, unconfortable. I wear glasses. I've installed the least unconfortable lens for glasses. I played skyrim the most time with the rift. To be honest i discovered the best 3d experience ever.Of course it was a prototype so there was a lot to improve like the resolution, the response time and of course , the confort. But the thing that anoyed me the most was not one of the things mentioned above. It was the eye strain. that is something the forthcoming prototype could not change. I use to play hours from time to time. I would never get into vr for that reason.I bougth a 3d monitor with nvidia 3d vision tech.It was much better than to have a sceen 1 inch away to your eyes with all the radation that goes with it.Maybe i'm more sensitive to artificial light but i prefer my 3d monitor for another reason: i can grab my cup of coffee without any risk cause i can see it.

Do people really want such a big thing on his head just to play games? Let alone what it will cost? Im not interested at all in this thing.

The only bad article ive read about VR and all he is talking about here is the fear of slow adoption not the experience and machines themselves which have had very positive reports. Morpheus day one for me. Stupid article.

This is one of the very, very few negative articles VR has received coming out of E3.

Looking at your submission history, it's not hard to see why you have posted this article. You've posted at least 2 other negative VR/Morpheus articles in the past, and the rest of your submissions lean, well...... I'll let others see them for themselves.

Virtual Reality demos disappointed the BBC at E3 *slowclap*. Let's let them continue with the rest of their enthralling and unmatched game coverage. /s

Before E3 there were comments on this site that expressed hopes and wishes that the studios would not focus on VR and AR to the detriment of gaming and this is exactly what happened - Sony left the VR PR to the floors and live demos as did Microsoft with just a small exhibition on Hololens and Minecraft. So now we get people complaining that there was no focus of VR and all kinds of theories as to why...

Considering that there are still six months to go before the end of this year as well as two or three major exhibitions likes Gamescom and the Paris and Tokyo Game shows, perhaps Sony and Oculus felt there was enough opportunity to talk about details later and let the gamers just get the feel of VR and the floors...

Over-hype if you do and no hype if you don't...

I would love to try Morpheus but honestly, I don't think VR is going to sell massively. It looks like it will be extremely niche.
People don't even want to put on glasses for 3-d gaming and movies so it's going to be difficult to sell them on VR.
I guess my fear is that Morpheus will go the way of VITA, a niche device where it doesn't make sense for Sony to create AAA games for it.

They are going to have to partner with retailers to have demos, cause i am not going to buy something like this without experiencing it. The sooner the better. People do not want to wait in line for hours to try it. so if they put what they had at e3 in best buys across north america for a couple of days per store then it would create massive buzz

If Sony was SMART they would do an exclusive Resident Evil game for Morpheus (bundle). This would EASILY be a system seller...

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
