Pandemic Dark Knight Game? Ripten Contacts Studio

Ripten's Chad Lakkis discusses the success of video games based on movies, and contacts Pandemic Studios to talk Dark Knight.

Nostradavis6521d ago

What do you guys think? Would you want Pandemic at the helm?

Sandwich Bender6521d ago

I would kill for an awesome Batman game, even though Batman would not approve.

gynecologistcobra6521d ago

Oh god, no. I really don't want this game to happen. It can only take away from the breathtaking experience TDK provided.

Nostradavis6521d ago

Why? It could end up being good.

Here is what a next-generation Batman game could look like in Unreal Engine 4

DSOGaming writes: "Ruslan Gadzhie has shared some incredible screenshots from a real-time 3D character model of Christian Bale as The Dark Knight from the Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight movie trilogy."

I just wish WB Games or Rocksteady would make a Batman Beyond video game. Getting to play in a Cyberpunk world of Batman would be something really unique compared to all the other former Batman games.

FinalAeonX2344d ago

Would be a great competitor to Cyberpunk.

Im fed up of unreal engine 4. Ruined soul calibur for me (my greatest game of all time)

Games, in my opinion, should use as many varied engines as possible, in house developed if possible.. because it gives the games their own specific feel / individuality.

Examples of this "feel"

Twisted metal 4 (ps1, ps2)
Soul calibur 2 (Dreamcast)
Mario 64 & Mario kart 64, wii... Etc.
Metropolis Street racer (Dreamcast)
Ratchet & clank / spiderman (ps4)

FinalAeonX2344d ago

You know from a consumer standpoint, you really can't tell the difference? It has no impact at all.

LMosche2344d ago

Nah bro. Anyone with standards can tell the difference in quality between MK11/Injustice 2 and your average Bandai Namco cash grab like Tekken. Just look at the character's ultimate moves lmao. It's obvious which game was developed with ambition and soul.

milohighclub2342d ago

For the most part you can identify a game running on unreal. Especially AAA

CrimsonWing692344d ago

Do you know the cost and time it takes to make a proprietary first-party graphics engine?

LMosche2344d ago

Yeah Unreal Engine 4 is awful. It seems to have taken away all the unique art styles we saw with Xcom, Bioshock, Borderlands etc.

At least CryEngine is receiving an update and Prey looked amazing.

D__RAiL2344d ago

thats not true at all. It all comes down to developer ambitions. UE4 is one of the better game engines you can use.

D__RAiL2344d ago

Top of my head Final Fantasy VII remake looks amazing

D__RAiL2344d ago

umm did you play Hellblade or even look at the Hellblade II trailer.

FinalAeonX2344d ago (Edited 2344d ago )

Did you see Arkham Knight, that looked beautiful! It looked amazing and was very well-polished too. All done in UE4.

2343d ago
LMosche2343d ago

@FinalAeonX Arkham Knight was on UE3 :D

milohighclub2342d ago

@LMosche yh and you can tell.

milohighclub2342d ago (Edited 2342d ago )

Sorry but people sayin it's down to the developer yh you're right except... each engine handles light, shadows, AA, hdr, particles etc differently. each engine is unique and if you're paying attention you can tell.

https://imgur.com/gallery/D...

Heres a comparison image of 2 games running on unreal and one not, y'all saying you cant identify which are running on which engine? Either havent been gaming long enough, arent paying attention or you're blind.

Spoiler: the ones that look soft af are unreal.

FWIW... Soul Calibur 2 was xb, gcn and ps2. It was only the first on dc.

Exvalos2344d ago

What are you crying about?

Hungryalpaca2343d ago

Someone doesn’t understand game engines.

DragoonUS2343d ago

Unreal Engine is like a hammer, give a hammer to an idiot and he will end up in the hospital, give to a professional and he builds a bridge. A tool is just a tool. Beyond that, you do not need to keep reinventing the wheel to make different cars. Try to be a little reasonable.

MajorLazer2343d ago

Some developers don't have the resources to create their own engine and those that do usually don't share

ReNe9aaDe2343d ago

i live in a world where you got 27 downvotes. Despite feeling like u read my mind with ur comments:/

blackblades2343d ago

I didnt like that they went with unreal for soul calibur either but it didnt ruin it for me. It was either that or no soul calibur at with there budget.

PMind2342d ago

You do realize the engine has no predetermination of the art direction, right? You can't make games only look one way in UE4 or any other engine. That would be like saying that everything created in Photoshop looks the same. A ton of UE4 games have been developed by the same developers so I suppose UE4 games do have a look as a whole, but that's only because that was the look they were going for.

ReadyPlayer222344d ago

UE4 isn't universal between devs. Most dev teams create their own proprietary tech to advance the tech in UE4. Can't wait to see what devs do for next gen

I want a watchmen game

darthv722344d ago

the end is nigh makes for a good watchmen game but more of a prequel. A game based on the continuation of the series would be nice. Especially since the series is on hbo.

Smokehouse2344d ago

I’ll check it out thanks

10 Awful-Sounding Video Games That (Fortunately) Got Cancelled

This list takes a look at ten cancelled video games that make you wonder why anyone thought they were a good idea in the first place. Eyedentify would have been so bad, it would have been good.

Godmars2904216d ago

Would have been good if AI at the time was.

That is largely crap today though, tells you how bad it was and would have been bad then. Especially for a game of that scope.

xer04216d ago

I actually loved the concept and looked forward to playing the game.

Such a shame, they couldn't pull it off.
