Famitsu this week has first details on Square Enix and Platinum Games’ newly announced NieR project for PlayStation 4.
Square Enix announced in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine the official title of the new Nier project, or Nier 2, as NieR Automata.
The game takes place on a devastated planet Earth, and will show the intense battle between android “Yorha” Unit [interestingly, YoRHa also happens to be the name of Yoko Taro’s stage play] made by humans, against the “Machine Organisms” sent by the enemy of mankind.
The magazine also showcases characters and world setting by Akihiko Yoshida. The character that appears to be the protagonist is named “Yorha #2 Type B” and wields a sword and great sword. There’s also a support system called “Pod” that makes it possible for long-ranged attacks.
NieR and Drakengard Director Taro Yoko and PlatinumGames are collaborating under Square Enix’s banner for a new PS4 exclusive NieR game, and today Yoko-san expressed his appreciation for the work the house of Bayonetta is doing on the upcoming title in response to a Tweet by Hideki Kamiya.
Taro Yoko does good stories in his games, with the team of the incredible Byonnetta2 doing the gameplay this is going to be a massive game, likly a GOTY contender.

This is going to be so good, as a fan of Drakengard, NieR and PlatinumGames. Really can't wait for this.
PlatinumGames released a new piece of concept artwork of the upcoming NieR project in development for PS4 and directed by Yoko Taro.
I want to see more of this game, but if not enough people pay attention to this they might not localize it
I want to see the technologies used in game, Lighting, Physically Based Shader, Skin Shader, Atmosphere, etc.

It will likely come to the west as Nier is very action rpg and I think they can appeal to the west more with this title then others. Mind you, it was announced at E3 ,I don't think they are targeting the east with this game as why even show it at E3 to a region that will never see it?

Let us hope for the best, this kind of games need more exposure, we complain about all the shooters yet when there are articles like these we don't really pay attenttion to the games.
It was announced during E3 and PS4 exclusive which is clear indication of localization.
Looks impressive. If Platinum Game fully Utilized PS4 and bring out uniqueness of Nier.
Then this game could well be Platinum game best game this gen.
Also Being PS4 exclusive it will also be best selling platinum game this gen.
Nier 1 was sleeper hit in Japan, it had great story and unique world. If platinum game can perfect the gameplay it is destined to be hit for sure.
Release date will be hopefully announced during TGS with gameplay. I predict late 2016 in japan and early 2017 rest of the world.
Can't wait, Can't wait, Can't wait! First game was amazing and with Platnium Games at the helm as well as a ton of people from the original game, this should be just as good or even be better! Best announcement at E3, last game I ever suspected to get a sequel.

NieR had a fantastic concept, and I'm glad that it's the same universe with a different storyline. That concept art is lush and has me dreaming of the possibilities of a next-gen NieR.
