Doom (4) Is set for a Spring release next year

I (Robin Ek The Gaming Ground) have been a fan of ID Software´s Doom series since the very first game got released back In 1993. So I took the liberty to write an opinion piece on the new gameplay trailers for Doom (4), and the game's rough development history.

The new DOOM looked awesome . But if you want to capture the feeling of original DOOM , we need twisted puzzle like level design with secret areas , powerups , filled with more demons .

personally the new Doom surprised me. I had zero expectations, and little hope for it considering its development issues...

but it looked great...

the original Doom games were actions games. While the game has always had something to do with 'hell'...its not a horror game, and imo, that was the biggest let down with Doom 3...the originals had tons of enemies, but ridiculously powerful weapons to use against them. I can't say the new version had, at least from whats been shown, 'tons' of enemies...but I really liked the nod to brutal doom with the melee stuff...and the chainsaw received fair treatment.

So here's to hoping the rest of the game is mostly like what we saw. No more survival horror, no need for a flash light out with no gun...and no freaking escort situations...

One thing though...i really hope that wasn't how the cyberdemon ends up...that thing looked like an undead walrus...

I hope the devs can break away from MS and take their IP's with them in the not to distant future. This entire consolidation and mass industry firings that MS has spearheaded has been nothing but a disaster for everyone except the already rich creatively bankrupt tw@ts at Microsoft.

MS is nothing but a drain on the entire gaming industry and every facet of it.

There is precedent already with bungie separating from Microsoft but I doubt Microsoft will let them go out with their IP’s without paying a huge price

Good for them. From what I hear Microsoft supports it but unfortunately it still doesnt change much but its a step in the right direction. More devs across the entire industry should do this. But regardless, you just love to hate anything Microsoft or xbox. Who's fault is it that sony closed down studios? Who spearheaded that? What i don't understand is that if you hate Microsoft so much why the concern. If this bothers you so much you may want to find another hobby. Free up some of that mental energy for your own well being and stop worrying about shit you cant change.

@FlaggerD care to look at yourself in the mirror, obscure? It's like your 132456th account now, and all of them have you being obsessed with Sony. You just can't handle the fact they literally stomped on Xbox, LMAO! Juggernaut my ass haha. Xbots claiming Expedition 33 winning GotY is a win for Xbox because it was on Game pass is the funniest shit ever LMAO!

Good for them. With AI coming for their jobs and their new corporate overlords working overtime to replace them, it’s a smart move.

Notellin149d ago

It won't be long before Microsoft lays off everyone in gaming and routes that money over into AI.

Time for everyone at Xbox to update the resume and start coming up with Indie game pitches.

The point of unionizing is collective bargaining. Sadly, I do not believe they have any leverage, which is likely why Microsoft isn't impeding them: The investment in AI is gargantuan. We're talking about a data center in Wisconsin that's about 200 city blocks. That is massive and insane.
