They look the same. I mean, that's not necessarily a bad thing but kind of odd no? Why not harness the power of the ps4? Is it for ps3 as well? Same engine?

Gazondaily3969d ago

A lot smoother on the PS4 though. Also, its the art style where the real magic lies as opposed to raw visual fidelity.

And it still looks impressive

blitz06233969d ago

Well I would assume the PS3 was not actual gameplay. There's the difference

MasterCornholio3969d ago

I remember that Ueda mentioned that the game had a ton of technical problems on the PS3. Maybe the system wasn't powerful enough to handle it so they switched development over to the PS4.

That's just my theory though.

zeuanimals3969d ago

@Mastercornholio:

The feather and foliage have a ton of "life", I don't think the PS3 could've handled that. Team ICO was about the little details that make the whole and those are little details that add life to the world and to Trico.

GMR_PR3969d ago

I don't think it looks impressive anymore, looks good but not impressive.

Gazondaily3969d ago

"I don't think it looks impressive anymore, looks good but not impressive."

I think it does. The way the clothes sway in the wind, all the individual feathers on the bird monster falafel thing.

GameSpawn3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

That and no atrocious bloom that blows out the image. Seriously the lighting in the 2009 version is just bad bad bad.

The character details have improved (better textures and sharper) and the environments are clearer (due to better lighting).

What is also important to note is that what we saw (presumably) was actually in-engine gameplay versus a pre-rendered trailer/teaser. I say that this could have been actual in-engine gameplay because of the imperfect-ness of the character's movements (it was as if someone was controlling the movements versus a predefined path for the AI to follow - there was movement you'd expect from "snap back" on analog sticks when they are let go).

raymantalk13969d ago

imo they did not make much improvements over the ps3 version as they thought it looked good enough imo there will be a follow up game that will look allot better in a couple of years time im proberly wrong but i hope i am right.

mikeslemonade3969d ago

PS3 actually looked better, but the thing is for PS3 that was probably just a target trailer.

Gazondaily3969d ago

Whaaa. Are you sure you're not getting confused between the two?

GhostTurtle3969d ago

Pretty sure you're getting the two mixed up..

MasterCornholio3969d ago

I think the best thing they did was not cancelling the game. I believe many of Uedas fans are happy that he's still behind the game.

Sure some people are complaining about the visuals but with a game like this what matters the most is the experience.

uth113969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

The compression on the live stream made the visuals look ALOT worse than it was. The feathers on the beast looked very pixellated. When I watched a different source later, it looked MUCH better

DigitalRaptor3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

I expected the game to look a great deal better on a PS4, but it's pretty clear that their goal here is producing a game in which Trico is a completely believable animal with believable and subtle emotions in gameplay, realistic animations that make you believe it is a real animal, in order to affect the emotions of the player at key beats, and also being able to anticipate the Boy's every move during platforming to save him from peril, like you saw Trico catching the Boy with its tail.

That's sounds pretty damn ambitious, even with PS4 hardware, and would take some truly advanced and well-programmed AI systems. Also, the fact that during all the climbing segments Trico doesn't clip through the environments at all, is really impressive. The game still looks incredibly gorgeous from the perspective of its art - I don't care that it looks like it could be a remastered PS3 game. We're lucky to have the game at all.

Eterna1Ice3969d ago

Pls, improving the graphics would take another 5 years or so, let's just take it as it is.

Yehshuah3969d ago

let's wait another 5 years!

Cam9773969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

I bet it'll come out on PS4 in a year, re-releases are all the hype nowadays.

AngelicIceDiamond3969d ago

No 2015 PS4 soo much better looking.

CryofSilence3969d ago

Keep in mind that this is very early footage of a game originally built on PS3. I imagine it will look much better by the time it releases in 2016.

finbars753969d ago

That is what i have been saying. By the time the game comes out it will be much more polished. There is a huge difference between the two not sure what video you guys are watching but the amount of detail and how the graphics are cleaned up and how smooth its running big difference. Plus a lot of the people in here have no idea of the art style Team Ico is known for. I would hate for it to have changed drastically to modern time would have changed the whole interface of the game into something its not. Can't wait for 2016.

xfiles20993969d ago

I think you need to get your eyes checked Looks a lot better on PS4

DragoonsScaleLegends3969d ago

Is this a PS2/PS3 comparison and that chicken dog freaks me out lol. I wish Sony would start caring about their PS1 IP's again. Those are their real gems for many PlayStation fans before PS2 and every year the lack of any of them on PS4 really sucks. I mean Nintendo wouldn't be anything without their IPs so I don't really understand why Sony doesn't use hardly any of their own from the PS1.

zeuanimals3969d ago

Because their devs don't want to and they let their devs have a bit more freedom than the other companies...

Naughty Dog was on a hot streak with Uncharted and the reasonable thing to do would have been to just continue pushing out Uncharted game after Uncharted game like the others, but instead, Sony took the risk and let ND make The Last of Us. Also, Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog have both said that they don't want to make another rated E platformer, and they're not. If Sony wants to leverage those IPs, they have to get 2nd parties to make them, like Sanzaru Games.

curtis923969d ago

I kept thinking "...this doesn't really look like PS4" Because it looks like the ps3 version did.

LifeInNZ3969d ago

I have to admit it didn't impress me much at all. Scripted destruction, nothing going on in the environment - just another dead world full of puzzles. Apart from the visuals the gameplay seemed very PS2 like. The visuals themselfs, apart from the creature, looked akin to an indie game.

I really wish they would make a sequel to Shadow of the Colossus. But this time set in a living, breathing and populated world.

zeuanimals3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

No. That goes against everything Shadow of the Colossus was about. It was about a single kid who's being used by forces he can't even begin to understand in a strange and dead world. Oh, but sure, just throw him into a city and have all of the magic and wonder of the previous game thrown out. Also, some things don't need to be followed up with a sequel. Their games were seen as the first pieces of art in gaming, we don't see Da Vinci painting Mona Lisa 2, 3, and 4, do we? No, the one Mona Lisa is profound and it kind of undermines the value of it to follow it up.

And yes, it does look like an indie game, do you know why that is? Because they inspired every indie game that takes this approach to storytelling, gameplay, visuals, etc. It's fine for indie devs to take inspiration from the people who started it all but it's not okay for the people who started it all to continue doing what they trailblazed in the first place?

Not every game has to be exactly how you want it and I honestly don't want it how you want it. They wanted to make a desolated world with puzzles. Sorry it doesn't have more question marks on a map to do.

IamTylerDurden13969d ago

Do you realize the "ps3 version" was a couple CGI trailers? This was all gameplay being show on PS4. Essentially the PS4 gameplay looks better than the ps3 CGI cutscene trailers. U get the difference?

The boy is animated in a certain style that isn't overwhelming visually, but wtf did ppl miss the awesome gigantic creature that looked visually STUNNING, yes stunning, did u not see every feather blowing in the wind and the enormous polygon count? I've never seen something like that where it is part of the min to min gameplay and it's that big and looks that good.

The scene where the boy is climbing up the creature while the creature is struggling to climb himself was incredible, and it was GAMEPLAY.

If u want a visual showcase watch HORIZON.

rainslacker3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

Not to mention the massive number of animations that the guardian has and all the polygon calculations that have to be done to make it's feathers behave in reaction to that animation. That's basically like having thousands of cloth dynamics going at once. I dont' think I saw it repeat the same animation twice, even when just walking.

We have animators at my work who were gushing over that this morning.

chrisx3969d ago

all i know is im just so glad i'll get to play this. the visuals are really good

akaFullMetal3969d ago

It has PS3 roots, but I can't wait to still play it.

Please release the ICO games on PC...

Inverno456d ago

I would love the remasters and Last Guardian on PC. Insta buy if I could get em on GOG. Just knowing I would have access to these games without them being tied to an aging console I'd buy em up again in a heartbeat.

Profchaos456d ago

At this point I don't think they are coming pcsx2 or rpcs3 is your only hope

SimpleDad456d ago

Thank You Shu... please ICO on modern platforms, please!

LG_Fox_Brazil456d ago

This game made a huge impact on me, the friendship beetween the boy and Trico reminded me of my old stubborn dog that was my friend when I was a kid.

The first game that ever made me cry, I love it

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88868d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183867d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie867d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
