E3 2015: Fallout 4 to Support Mods on Xbox One

At the end of a Fallout 4 stage demonstration at Microsoft's Xbox Press Conference, Bethesda's Todd Howard announced that the Xbox One version of Fallout 4 will support PC mods.

nicksetzer14005d ago

DUDE!!!!I cannot wait to watch this conference when I get home. This sounds freaking amazing. Wonder if this means minecraft is getting mods for XB1 too?

-Foxtrot4005d ago (Edited 4005d ago )

I've been wanting mods to happen for a very long time.

This is only the beginning but I hope Sony gets on this aswell.

Fallout, Elder Scrolls, GTA, Minecraft...the list goes on.

EveryPlatformGamer4004d ago

Exactly my 9yr old daughter is going nuts about possible minecraft modds.
Also this means the community can maybe improve the graphically, make tweaks etc and add more content? This is HUGE for console gaming!

ABizzel14004d ago

I truly don't understand wanting mods, but not having the PC version. IMO mods is one of the greatest reasons to get those kind of games on PC first and foremost, since mods are guaranteed.

Any desktop can run those games, just buy a 750 Ti and stick it in there.

TXIDarkAvenger4005d ago

That's pretty awesome XB1 users.

BattleTorn4005d ago

Is the feature exclusive, though?

One would've expected Todd Howard to specifically mention this if it were.

xtremexx4005d ago

i would think so due to mods being made on windows and how heavily tied in xbox and windows are getting. Though you would think they would make it way more obvious.

ABizzel14004d ago

@xtremexx

Mods were also on PS3 Unreal Tournament, so WIndows has nothing to do with it. It's just something that's generally up to the console manufacturer.

DigitalRaptor4005d ago (Edited 4004d ago )

The word "EXCLUSIVE" was not uttered.

It's pretty clear that this is not an exclusive feature for Xbox One, otherwise it would have been announced as such. Like for example, if Fallout 4 DLC had been a timed-exclusive, MS would have announced it as such. There's no technical limitations as to why this feature can't be on PS4.

Unreal Tournament 3 had mods last-gen on the infamously hard to program for PS3. That just proves that there's no technical limitations as to why this can't be on PS4, and this is just something Microsoft wanted to have announced at their show.

You'll see mods for this game on PS4, mark my words.

@ Pinkdolphinyfg

Believe what you want, this is just my take on things.

Here's a nugget for you. In addition to Fallout 4, Microsoft also spent at least half of their conference talking about multiplatform games. Are those not coming to PS4 either? Turns out that they are.

You're the same kind of person that is still in denial about Rise of the Tomb Raider being a timed exclusive that will be on PS4 within the next 12-18 months. If these things were No Holds Barred exclusives, Microsoft would have no issues calling them as such.

Pinkdolphinyfg4005d ago

Why would they hold back such a huge feature from their main reveal if it were coming to both consoles? Sorry but it's 9/10 likely its an exclusive feature otherwise Microsoft giving them stage time to make this announcement makes zero sense.

krypt19834004d ago

why wouldn't he of just said mods coming to xb1 and ps4??

kyon1474005d ago

Xbox have won E3. Unless Sony announce Playstation Now for free to all PS Plus users they will lose.

Malacath4005d ago

A bit too early to say that especially as Sony have a few hours to try to save their E3.

I'm curious on whether Fallout 4 will get mods on ps4

BlackTar1874005d ago (Edited 4005d ago )

Whitesox where did they ever say mods only on xbox? They did not they said Fallout 3 only on xbox

@sugawalls PS3 had mod support on Unreal tournament. Mods isn't exclusive to Windows 10.

sugawalls4005d ago

It's a windows 10 feature. This will not show up on Playstation.

barb_wire4005d ago

Of course not, it's Bethesda, they don't give a chit about the PS platform. Any PS player who believes anything Bethesda says, go back a re-watch E3 2011 and listen to all their BS concerning 'Skyrim' on the PS3.

Antifan4005d ago

They never said HOW mods will be available on xbox. Never said if it's a xbox exclusive. Xfanboys, chill your roll. Wait for more info before talking mess :)

I didn't notice told say play mods exclusively on xbox one so I wouldn't go banking on anything...

ZaWarudo4005d ago

It will suck big time if PS4 doesn't get this. PS4 is my preferred platform.

gangsta_red4005d ago (Edited 4005d ago )

Super Huge Edit:

My bad. I seriously replied to the wrong comment!

ZaWarudo4005d ago

How would mod support make PSNow irrelevant?

Unless you're talking about backwards compatibility, then yes, to hell with PSNow.

BlackTar1874005d ago

Why would mods make PSnow irrelevant?

bananaboats4005d ago

sometimes the more powerful console isn't always the best.

ABizzel14004d ago

@ZaWarudo

How? You haven't been playing with mods for an entire generation at least, the last game that really allowed mods was Unreal Tournament on PS3 (others through hacking).

And if you wanted mods you'd be getting on PC to begin with. Any desktop can become a gaming rig simply by adding a 750 Ti.

Malacath4005d ago

Mods for fallout 4, backwards compatibility for 360 games.

So far E3 is looking good for xbox one.

xfiles20994005d ago

If I wanted to play 360 games I would of kept my 360

Malacath4005d ago

Well I do want to play 360 games. I have quite a large library of games for it.

Just because I own an Xbox one and PS4 doesn't mean I don't want to play my 360 or ps3 games any more.

Backwards compatibilty means one less console taking up space in my tv stand.

BlackTar1874005d ago

Biggest news from Xbox so far is BC . That's not how you win e3 sorry

you don't win e3 based on yesterdays games.

BlackTar1874005d ago

Now hololens is the business

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot203d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder203d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain203d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
