Fallout 4 Runs On An Upgraded Creation Engine, Supports Physically-based Rendering

Fallout 4 is one of the most anticipated games that are being presented in this year’s E3. The game is coming on current-gen platforms only, and we are pretty sure that a lot of you were wondering whether it is powered by a brand new engine or not. Well, during Bethesda’s E3 2015 Conference, it was revealed that Fallout 4 runs on an upgraded version of the Creation engine.

That's how I felt too lol

Watching gameplay footage right now and it looks OK though. The only thing I'm concerned about is performance.

mikeslemonade3986d ago

Okay they improved the graphics when the showed the gameplay in the begining, but at the end of the conference the mash-up of gameplay looked weak.

ShinMaster3986d ago (Edited 3986d ago )

@ disagrees

I said the graphics looked fine. And if you dont agree with my comment about performance then you probably haven't played a Bethesda game recently. Too be specific, bugs, blocky shadows, etc.

That said, gameplay wise the game looks really good. And Bethesda had great E3 conference.

nveenio3986d ago

With everything else going on in this game, the graphics are fine. I'm no longer worried.

Army_of_Darkness3986d ago

If it's running at 60fps, I'd say the graphics look great! If 30fps, then it's a'ight still.

UnHoly_One3986d ago

I'd be willing to bet there is exactly a 0% chance that this game will be running at 60fps on consoles.

Bethesda really did amazing with their first e3 conference. No BS filler, very little corny puns/jokes. Just amazing games. Cannot wait for Doom.

Fallout 4 and all the creation options, as well as bases!? FUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!

*dies, and waits to respawn on Nov. 10th. 2015

starchild3986d ago

Doom, Dishonored 2 and Fallout 4 are looking very promising. I can't wait for those three games.

3-4-53986d ago

* I've never played a Fallout game before, but they've always slightly interested me.

Fallout 4 looks like a lot of fun to play.

* The setting, the tons of small details, the creation system....tons of stuff to do.

The game looks more than good enough for me.

It could be 16-bit and I'd play it.

* Won't be a day one but most likely get it before X-mas. Looks like they put a lot of hard work & love into this game.

UnHoly_One3986d ago

You owe it to yourself to pick up Fallout 3 in the meantime and give it a shot.

camel_toad3986d ago

I was officially blown away when they showed the settlements feature and weapon crafting.

This Creation engine is creating a game with crappy graphics.

2pacalypsenow3986d ago (Edited 3986d ago )

Crappy ? yeah sorry not every game can be The Order , Uncharted or Project cars , The graphics are fine for a game this big

kingdom183986d ago

Really after seeing the gameplay I don't even to care to complain about the animations anymore let alone graphics, I don't know how anyone else can, this game looks awesome!

joab7773986d ago

Seeiously. After everything they are putting into this game, creating settlements, crafting guns and armor, a huge open world...

I can't wait. Are graphics the be all end all. I don't get it.

DragonKnight3986d ago

Ok, I'm sorry I just have to say that you're using a cliche Bethesda defense here.

There really is no excuse at this point. There have been many other open world games with lots to do in them with better graphics. That's not a viable defense anymore.

I'm not saying that the graphics are good or bad, I'm just saying that that defense for whenever Bethesda underdelivers or whatever needs to stop.

Outside_ofthe_Box3986d ago (Edited 3986d ago )

***"I'm not saying that the graphics are good or bad, I'm just saying that that defense for whenever Bethesda underdelivers or whatever needs to stop."***

Well, if that's the case then bringing up that notion here is pointless. Bethesda didn't under deliver here at all.

The graphics are not bad all. The graphic are good enough for me to point where complaining about the graphics as if it's some DEAL breaker doesn't make any sense at all, especially when you consider that it's an open world game with A LOT of things happening dynamically and NOT scripted at all.

"Cliche Besthesda Defense" or not, joab777 is 100% correct here.

uncharted563986d ago

Its not so much graphics in the sense of textures or AA that dissappointed me but rather the animations they are as bad as the other fallout games. I mean srsly when games like uncharted, and gears can have great animations in third person why can they do the same for fallout in third person. Also the character models were not on par imo they need more details in texture area there for sure but I do like the new creation suite.

Docknoss3986d ago

Graphics has very little to do with the quality of a game. Look at "the Order" as an example.

UnHoly_One3986d ago

Or Ryse.

Both ok games, but it's pretty obvious what they both prioritized.

It doesn't matter though, let the whiners whine. I thought the game looked fantastic, and I can't wait to play it, and play it, and play it some more.

Lamboomington3986d ago

Honestly, this demo shows some pretty kickass graphics. It's going to be one of the best looking open world games. The attention to detail, the lighting and animation is way past previous games. Look at the lighting and shadowing especially.

Graphics aren't the biggest part of Fallout, but I have to say, the games looks freaking great.

starchild3986d ago (Edited 3986d ago )

Yeah, the lighting and shading/shadowing are great. The textures and geometry can be a bit weak at times, but that isn't too surprising in such an immense game. Overall this game shows off some really nice scenes.

OB1Biker3986d ago

lol Im just laughing at people bitching about the graphics... all I can think about this game right now is <mind blown>

I am seriously excited for the creating stuff in this game. I am going to spend so much time making my own settlements and weapons/armor.

Edit: Damn we are getting it this year too. Wow!!!

mt3986d ago

the game is so detailed, crazy detailed. and there are many things to do. Besthesda have been working their butt out and it looks like it paid off.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot184d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder184d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain184d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
