Double Take: First Mega Man, Now Ryu in Smash Bros – So Why Doesn’t Capcom Support Wii U?

Ryu in Smash Bros is almost an announcement too good to be true. But why would 2 of Capcom's biggest franchises be in Smash Bros when they don't even support the Wii U?

Nintendo must of paid them a little to get these in the game so I think they don't feel the need to.

It's kind of like "We got some money out of them and we don't even have to support their console....just let them use our characters"

Kurisu3997d ago

It is quite frustrating for Wii U owners. Get the characters, but not the games.

pcz3997d ago (Edited 3997d ago )

maybe the inclusion of ryu in smsh bros is a hint that something from capcom is coming to wiiu. maybe all will be revealed at e3

lets be honest, ryu in smash is epic

Retroman3997d ago (Edited 3997d ago )

that would be outta-sight Ryu HYUUUUKEN upper cut to Mario, Donkey kong.
i'll pay to see M. Bison beat up Megaman

sweet!!

Theyellowflash303997d ago

LOL! Nintendo didn't pay Capcom for these characters. Capcom allows Nintendo to use them because its great marketing for those characters.

Are you serious? Nintendo paying Capcom for characters in their own game?

-Foxtrot3997d ago

How is it great marketing, especially to the Wii U's main fanbase

"Oh look Ryu from Street Fighter is in Smash Bros"

"Holy shit that's awesome"

"You know I really fancy a game of Street Fighter"

"You should get it"

"You know what I think I am...what game can we get on the Wii U"

"Oh...they don't have one, they haven't supported the Wii U much to be honest"

"...Oh"

<Goes back to playing Smash Bros>

Besides I don't think Capcom are that generous, they are earning nothing on the Wii U so I doubt they will just give up their characters to Nintendo without something.

Theyellowflash303997d ago

It's great marketing because you get one of the most iconic characters in gaming history in your game. It improves the appeal and COULD get more people who like Street Fighter to buy the game.

Why do you automatically assume that every character from Smash has to represented by a "CURRENT" new game on Wii U?

Last time I checked Capcom has virtual console Street Fighter games on Wii U and Super Street Fighter 4 on 3DS has sold well over 1 million units. I guess you're forgetting Smash Bros is on 3DS AS well as Wii U.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima begged Nintendo to put Snake in Smash Bros and didn't have to pay him a dime in Brawl, and wouldn't have had to pay Konami if he showed up in Smash 4.

You're delusional if you think Nintendo payed Capcom to use a character in Smash Bros. sorry dude, that's not how it works. They didn't pay Capcom for Mega Man, they didn't have to pay Bandai Namco for Pac-Man, hell he was almost included in Brawl.

The Team Meat guys said they could include Super Meat Boy if they wanted to. Please, developers want there characters in Smash Bros, Nintendo doesn't pay 3rd party devs to put their characters to a fanbase of over 10 million.

PLUS you have ZERO proof that NIntendo pays Capcom for these characters. You're just making shit up.

-Foxtrot3997d ago (Edited 3997d ago )

Right first of all it's not making shit up...it's speculating to a QUESTION proposed by the articles TITLE. Thus me saying "so I think".

Stop getting your panties in a twist...Jesus, people on this site get so serious.

Theyellowflash303997d ago

You seem pretty set that Nintendo paid Capcom for these characters by your own words:

"Nintendo must of paid them a little to get these in the game so I think they don't feel the need to."

"Besides I don't think Capcom are that generous, they are earning nothing on the Wii U so I doubt they will just give up their characters to Nintendo without something."

If you are unsure then you wouldn't have posted your own reubttal about Ryu and Capcom not having a Street Fighter game on Wii U.... lol, which is false and you ignored the 3DS to "attempt" to make your point.

How about you stop making up stuff that you don't know and do some research, so you'll see that Nintendo doesn't pay them.

No need to get mad because you have no clue what you're talking about.

-Foxtrot3997d ago

@Theyellowflash30

LOL

Only person getting mad is you. You replied to my comment and took in the wrong way to try and make it into something it's not.

Love the "I'm going to spin this on you" plan...but it's so transparent. Nice try though.

Well said, the points you made are valid. foxtrot just likes to put down Nintendo at every opportunity. Nintendo can do no right in his eyes.

He can't stand when he's proved wrong then he accuses you of doing something he loves to do "spin things" talk about delusional lol

Bubbles to u

Theyellowflash303997d ago

It's all good Foxtrot, I know you're defeated when you stop talking facts (because you never had any in the first place) and start saying stuff like:

"Stop getting your panties in a twist...Jesus, people on this site get so serious."

and

"If you want to relax try adding a spot of lavender to your bath and soon you will soak yourself calm"

You got no facts, just your made up opinion, and a bunch of stupid comments after you realized you're wrong.

"Love the "I'm going to spin this on you" plan...but it's so transparent. Nice try though."

Spin it on you? There is nothing to spin, I've refutted and every point you've made and you've done nothing to prove anything you said is true.

Move on dude, you were wrong, admit to it, or just stop commening back to me.

Sadly, the Fox Engine was developed with systems more powerful than the WiiU. So far, with UE4 apparently usable on the console - as far as I know - that's not the case here. Capcom could have put SF4 on the WiiU.

They can't put SF5 on the XB0, but then that's some legal BS. Sony sinking in money and assets so that SF5 could come out sooner than it might have otherwise.

tinkypop3997d ago

E3 more support from 3nd partys.?
could this tie into it, some how?

Godmars2903997d ago

Asking why Capcom, some of the larger Japanese game publishers, are making bad decisions is a bit redundant at this point.

Gemmol3997d ago

People forget Capcom do look out for Nintendo, last gen they gave Wii owners their own exclusive with Capcom vs Tatsunko, and like I told many people that game was great, people forget it because it was not on ps3/360, but in my opinion, it played better than marvel vs capcom 3, I almost trade in my Ps3 to get a wii to get the game, but good thing my friend live close by. They also get monster hunter series, so its not that they treat them bad they just know that games sell better on their handheld. If it is true that Nintendo got a hybrid console/handheld, they will get all the 3rd party games.
