What To Expect From E3: Nintendo's Third Way

TSA:
Over the past decade Nintendo have settled on embracing the ‘third way’ of the console business. Set to their own path, the Japanese gaming giant has in the past appeared wholeheartedly unconvinced by the route taken by their competitors, producing less powerful hardware while focussing on removing as many of the barriers to gaming as they can.

I can't wait to see how Nintendo will dominate once again E3. I just have a strong feeling that no matter what generic games other companies reveal, Nintendo will crush all those games because we have alot to look forward to. Let's not forget the rumour of french guy said Nintendo pick up 3 multi-plat games and are now exclusives of WII U.

wonderfulmonkeyman3997d ago

I'd like to see a source for this "french guy" rumor, if you please...

Having said that, I think the word crush is too strong, here.
The other two systems are going to get some worthwhile stuff, too.

I think everyone is just underestimating Nintendo, though, due to various factors.
I'm confident that Nintendo will have a strong E3 this year, though.
Those Splatoon matches at the Nintendo World Championships are gonna be a big attraction!

Trekster_Gamer3997d ago

Dominate,, LMAO Nintendo is a distant third. Almost a niche user-base these days.

N0TaB0T3995d ago

And you belong to the slow kids group. Have a nice day.

SteamPowered3997d ago

Nintendo will have to pull out all the stops on this one. Ps4 Morpheus, Oculus, and X1 have a lot of real estate invested in this E3. And I cant help but think this may be Nintendo's last chance to wow the general masses. I hope they utilize this opportunity and leave the Nintendo Directs alone for a bit.

Ewww... Virtual reality. I'm sorry, I'm just not buying into it. I can't see how having headsets on and these eye pieces and controllers in our hands is going to revolutionize gaming? Plus everyone knows gamers love to snack. How the hell can you do that if you can't even see where your snacks and drinks are if you have these goggles on. Pause every 2 minutes to take a bite or have a drink? I'm just not ready to buy into that future yet.

Also most US/Japan gamers still game in he living room. How is it going to look when your the only one in the living room with goggles on and everyone is staring at you like an idiot lol.

I can see it now your best friend making out with your girl while your sitting there trying to play in virtual reality lol.

Mind you, this is just my opinion.

Well to start off, VR is huge. Every form of media from movies, gaming, demos, museums, military, and scientists are all on board with VR. There are HMDs being made by Oculus, Steam, Samsung, Nvidia, Sony, Microsoft, all big companies with big faith in VR.

To answer your query about seeing around you, the Oculus and Vive as well as GearVR all have external cameras. This allows for flow-through viewing if you want to check your watch. However, this opens up the door to AR applications. Imagine having a virtual 120" curved tv in your living room. AR can make it happen. If you want your Facebook up on the living room wall, they can make it happen.

I understand you havent tried VR and are skeptical. Because if you had tried it, we wouldnt be having this conversation. You would already be a believer.

Before you denounce VR, go to the Oculus.Share site. Look at all the demos and work being done. I mean, you can visit dinosaurs, get shot out of a cannon, run a mech, or get a tour of the Louvre. These are all working games/demos. VR isnt something coming down the line, its already here and its wonderful.

Remember this day when you finally do put on an Oculus or Vive headset. You will regret ever having doubts.

Does E3 floorspace really matter to the public though? It's a trade show (in theory) and only attended by a finite number of people. All of the console manufacturers/publishers will have far more eyes on them online than they will at the event itself.

SteamPowered3997d ago

Well I imagine that you pay for the Square footage at E3. Since that space would cost more, I was alluding to the fact that those companies are that much more invested in being seen at E3.

bass4g3997d ago

Don't nintendo always book a lot of floorspace at e3 though? They even do a presentation on the showfloor to attendees iirc.

@steampowered If anything I'd say they put more effort into e3 last year than they ever did before, what with the smash tournament and the 3 days of live streams. The only difference is we don't get the weird awkward pauses and wii music demos. And I don't see how that's a bad thing.

jcnba283997d ago

You actually think Morpheus, Oculus will be big at E3? They're just peripherals, they're not going to cause much hype at all.

It's all about the games and that's where Nintendo will dominate.

I seriously just want to drop a balloon full of mayo on fagwata's head when he leaves the Nintendo building so a bunch flies attack him, so he would be running around back and forth crying like the little b!tch he is, full of mayo. Then being attacked by flies he gets in the car and can't see, drives in the ocean with Mario in the trunk. Then Reggie social reject icon aime will try to confront me, but I will spit in his face and smash a tomato in his face with him screaming like the b!tch he is. The thing he doesn't know is when I dropped the mayo ballon on iwata's head. His pepper spray fell out of his purse and I have it. So after he rubs the tomato off his face crying like the b!tch he is I would spray his fagg0t social reject icon eyes with pepper spray and spit in his face again.

I would then say..... HOW ABOUT YOU PLEASE UNDERFUCKINGSTAND!!!!!!

U.S. patent examiner rejects Nintendo’s summoning characters patent as obvious: non-final ruling

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).

Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.

PRIMORDUS49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo Suing U.S. Government Over Tariffs

The fact that you have ANY disagrees will forever baffle me. And to the (apparent) MAGA contingent that exists on this website, enjoy your 8-9 dollar gas.

AuraAbjure74d ago (Edited 74d ago )

Yes, they had better be pissed after Trump told them the way they rip off the USA is over.

EveryPlatformGamer75d ago

LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.

-Foxtrot75d ago

That’s what I was thinking, imagine them winning hypothetically, getting a s**t load of money back which they would have lost if they hadn’t raised their prices and it’s business as normal.

It would just mean people paid more for no reason since they got the money back anyway.

Outside_ofthe_Box74d ago (Edited 74d ago )

A lot of companies partially passed the cost to consumers instead of all of it. They would still have to at least pay that back to gamers, but we know that won't happen. What's also sad is that prices won't come back down after the initial hike caused by tariffs.

People didn't understand the full repercussions of tariffs. That alone should have cost him the presidency if people knew it was a permanent price hike for consumers

Inverno75d ago

The people should sue these companies for having to over pay cause of these tariffs.

Eonjay75d ago

Naw they should sue the government for forcing the tax to begin with. No one reasonably expects these companies to absorb the taxes. Many smaller companies tried and were shut down or faced to increase prices to try to maintain their business. The tariffs effect everyone.

Inverno73d ago

I meant it mostly as a joke cause we all know the costs of these tariffs were passed onto the consumer. But it's seems no matter how vocal we are here in the states our "representatives" don't seem to care enough to represent us. And things are about to get worse.

Killer2020UK73d ago

The companies were doing what the law required then to do, the tariffs however were illegally implemented. Usually it's criminals we punish, you seem to have different ideas 🤷‍♂️
