They can't put the original on the XBOX Live Marketplace. I'm not defending sony's exclusivity as a fanboy, I'm just pointing out an obvious fact.

Something does not make sense hear. If they are going to port the original ff7 on the psn and xbl, then why would they spend their resources in developing a remake of the ps1 version exclusive to the ps3. And another thing, If sony is the publisher of ff7, how on earth is it going to appear on xbl. Unless sony and square have come to an agreement. Maybe they are giving us something much better like a sequel to ff7, rather then a straight port.

Sony published FF7. That's why nothing relating to FF7 has ever been on anything non-Sony, and that won't change if a remake happens. Sony owns joint rights with Sqaure for the game.

I hope its a remake with updated graphics and better translation. I do hope they don't change too much however for two reasons; It'll take ages to come out if they do a complete remake right now, I'd prefer FFXIII and FFVsXIII personally and the English voices of the FFVII crew (with the exception of Tifa) annoy the hell out of me, please keep it just text or at least give us dual audio options.

I am hoping it stays exclusive to ps3 because it will be a true next generation game. If it goes multiplatform that will be the most terrible thing that can ever happen in the history of gaming. Only because 360s hardware will bring the game down I am tired of that machine destroying games. The ghostbusters game is something that I never thought could happen and then they had to ruin it by making it multiplatform specs. They can go ahead and make any other multiplatform game but do not destroy a legendary classic remake like final fantasy 7.

They have been using the playstation brand since the ps1 days, but why isn't there a Squeenix game out on the ps3 yet? They pretty much ditched the ps3 as they have exclusive and timed exclusive games on the 360 foremost. That makes no sense though, cause they said they are trying to reach a broader audience right? So why the heck did they bite the hand that has fed them for so long? Its not right, nor fair. Especially since us ps3 users are the ones that love the series so much. Except for 12 of course.

Im really upset at the desicision from this strategy because Sony is pretty much the ones who made them who they are today. They have been living off of the money of FF7,8,9,X,X2,XI,XII and now they totally abandon the playstation brand? They could have at least made Crisis Core for the ps3 too, not just the PSP. Its been 2 freakin years since Sony launched! Wth is going on Squeenix?! God they are freaking idiots.

i mean if you think about it, square wont really have to do as much work just need a graphic change and mybe sound enhanced. The story is done. If square wanted to make a ton of money then they would release a remake. They been making allof of remakes lately of other FF, i think FF7 will eventually come. But how great would it be if the said available summer/or Fall 09. and FF13 (does not have a date) came out either b4 it or after it. They would have large sales.

Well I trust PS Lifestyle alot but this is just insane, if Sony must buy one game, this needs to be it.

I have heard in the past that Sony and SE have an agreement which prevents new FF games(main series) to appear on other platforms, but it is possible that that agreement was re-worked to allow FFXIII to be multi-plat while a new FF7 game would remain exclusive...

All speculation, lets just say this SE event will be something to watch out for. I'm not a huge FF7 fan but this would really rock the games scene.

I was looking at the title for DKΣ3713, and I've been trying to work out what it means.

My personal opinion is (and hear me out on this), each letter or number represents a game by Square Enix. You have:

D - Dissidia coming to PSP
K - Kingdom Hearts coming to DS and PSP (maybe a KH3 announcement)
Sigma - Sigma Harmonix for the DS
3 - 3rd Birthday? - aka "Parasite Eve 3"
7 - Advent Children Complete (maybe a remake?)
13 - Final Fantasy XIII

I don't know if this is old or has been mentioned before, but it makes sense. Maybe the Square's big announcement is hidden in the title? What do you think? I know KH3 and FF7 remake/sequel are speculation but it makes sense (to me at least)

And lets hope I live to see it happen haha

There have been so many rumors about a ff7 remake that ive ceased to get excited about it. If they didi remake it though i would buy it no matter what, even if it was a 360 exclusive id spring the cash for a 360 as well.

It's gonna be one of the 12 announcements Sony makes at the Leigpez Conference.

Square Enix Announcement:
Part A: FFVII Remake made PS3 Exclusive w/ a trailer shown.
Part B: FFXIII Versus (Not FFXIII) will be PS3 Exclusive.
Part C: Secret Square Enix game will be announced exclusively for the PS3.
Part D: Exclusive DLC will be announced for the PS3 Version of FFXIII.

one of the only people left who has never played FF7. I see it as the game that went from the 2D of the NES/SNES era to 3D for the PSX era. Much like mario going to 3D on N64.

Yes it is different but looking back on it, would it be as epic now as it was then? It is a cool game for nostalgia. I have contemplated picking it up but something about the whole "final fantasy" universe didnt appeal to me like phantasy star did. I did like the ones on the nes and snes and have FFX on ps2.

If it was to be remade then I am betting it would get a fresh coat of paint like konami did with the GC release of MGS twin snakes. The story wont change (much) but graphically it would be updated without compromising the look and integrity of the original.

All the hype surrounding this game being remade could lead to problems from the fans not getting what they are expecting. Meaning square could capitalize on the popularity of the game with only the minor updates instead of a full blown expensive reinventing of the wheel.

I didn't play this on the original Playstation, but I did buy the steam version after hearing about the amazing mods that are available. Square Enix definitely made the right decision to re-release this game on multiple platforms decades after release.

I am still wishing for the day Nintendo releases the original Pokemon Red and Blue on mobile with online features.

Edit: I am also looking forward to the day Square Enix ports FFX to mobile.
