The Final Fantasy Info [Rumor]

Final Fantasy VII will be getting a "new" version of the classic game from the massive franchise and it will be exclusive (for now at least) to the PLAYSTATION 3. It is unclear whether a new version will be a simple remake or an extension to the original like Crisis Core, and if it will be a Blu-ray release, or on the PSN.

By the end of FFX13 or Versus, the team will be prepared to handle FF7.

In a few years time, Ps3 games will start redefining the gaming industry.

Edit below: Maybe they don't see the point of making FF7 exclusive to PSN network because they can gain more money by giving it to xbox consumers.

Codeman4206524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

i thought FF7 was produced by Sony? i could be wrong. if thats the case how is it going to be on XBLA? if it wasnt then by all mean. the more people to play it the better.

EDIT: ok it was produced by sony in PAL and the US but Square everywhere else. to this should get really interesting.

Tomdc6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

I hope it is a full release... Thank you SQUARE!!! a sequal sorta thing would be kinda betta than a remake in a way, cos then you dont risk fans of the original slating it after having such high expectations.

ash_divine6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

If Sony had made VII theyed probably have bought the FF franchise with the money they would of made. and FFVII remake would probably been a launch title lol.

AznSniper6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

Maybe Microsoft had to pay Sony for it to be on XBLA. But I don't see how it can fit with XBLA's size limit since FFVII was a 4 CD game. But I don't believe it until Squeenix announces it.

Codeman4206524d ago

thanks ash. thats wat i truely meant to say. sry for all the confusion. if there was any.

gaffyh6524d ago

I don't see the PS1 game coming out on XBL a few reasons:

[1] The PS3 already emulates PS1 games, so Square wouldn't have to do much to make the game work on the PS3, whereas on XBL they would have to rework the ENTIRE coding or MS would have to make a PS1 emulator (which would be illegal for them to do)

[2] XBL has a file size limit, and FF7 is 2.8GB in size almost (although this could be reduced by removing duplicate textures but not much). PSN has no limit.

[3] I'm pretty sure that Sony owns FF7, as in they published it so they own the rights to it (I don't know how that works, but that's what I heard). And if they own it, I seriously doubt that they would knowingly hand over such a game for any amount of money.

So overall I call bullshit on ths story, all these are predictions (although it's likely that a remake and more likely that a sequel to FF7 is coming).

TapiocaMilkTea6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

I thought I was kidding when I said 7x2=14 (FFVII direct sequel=FFXIV), but now it seems highly probable!
Square usually reveals the next installments of FF way ahead anyways...

INehalemEXI6524d ago

I can't wait till we get confirmation on a remake. The original should have been on PSN by now as well as FF8. tsk tsk @ Squeenix/Sony for being so tardy with these masterpieces.

kwicksandz6524d ago

Publishing deals expire after a certain time period. has anyone considered the reason squeenix has delayed a remake this long because they want to publish their IP on the platforms they choose?

DeadIIIRed6524d ago

I don't have full knowledge on the subject, but doesn't Sony own half of the rights to FFVII? Even if they don't I highly doubt a VII game would ever end up on any other system.

Is it just me, or does it seem that ever since FFXIII went multi-plat every xbox lover seems to think that every single announced and unannounced PS3 exclusive will end up on the 360?

uie4rhig6524d ago

FF7 was published in Europe by SCEE
FF7 was published in North America by SCEA
FF7 was published in the rest of the world by Square
FF7 was published on Windows worldwide by Eidos Interactive

FF7 was developed by Square

Bebedora6523d ago

I think you are right. Sony want to milk this cow in so many ways possible. But without it hurting the PS systems. So I am saying is, Sony owns FFVII (yea, that's right) and as such, they are taking precausions before releasing it on an other platform than the PS brand?

Right so the big news was a FFVII remake rumour. Not really a new rumour is it?

DarthTigra 6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

Not really but we know we can trust this site, that rumour has fired back up again from varius sites plus with the big shocking ff7 related announcment this could be true.

Fishy Fingers6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

Dude, you don't need a website to make an informed guess.

SE show clear demand for the western market and western dollar, all the rumours and speculation show a clear demand for a remake, SE have a engine at there disposal, good chance for a "low" production cost and high profit. SE would be foolish to be at least not considering it. The point is, the rumour is old. Nothing changes until the rumour becomes fact.

ps. Id like it to be true to, I know this game was special to a lot of people.

d3l33t6524d ago

isn't this the same site that said LBP D/L user created content would cost money?

I dont think its trust worthy

rofldings6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

Confirmation of a FF7 remake on PS3 would be equivalent to the contents of this video:

"Confirmation of a FF7 remake on PS3 would be equivalent to the contents of this video:"

So, are you saying it's as likely as a meteor hitting Earth, or are you saying it'll be Earth-shattering? :D

predator6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

exclusive for a time at least? so it could well end up on 360 too then?

ps1 version to be on PSN and XBLA? sweet

Not really shocking as there are rumors about this all the time...what will be shocking if its announced for 360 or even Wii...that will be shocking

whoelse6524d ago

Well you know what Microsoft is like with their wealth.

predator6524d ago

Sony published that game but don't own the rights to Final Fantasy..there is a big difference

Dark vader6524d ago

Tell that to the 360 fans that said the second ninja gaiden game could never come to the ps3 cause microsoft published it.

sushipoop6524d ago (Edited 6524d ago )

i mean, well deserved, its one of the best.

VenomUK100d ago

I’d love to know how many units have been sold of all the Final Fantasy VII franchise games, including the original, the remakes, spin offs such as Crisis Core, and mobile games Ever Crisis. I bet a fair few copies.

TheDreamCorridor100d ago

Modern day publisher be like: "Failed to meet sales expectations. Pivoting to live service."

aaronlif10100d ago

It's an absolute legend of a game. And I honestly really love how the remake trilogy is shaping up so far.

blacktiger99d ago

is the remake good if you didn't play ff7

Scissorman100d ago

If you already own it... There, I saved you the click on a deliberately misleading article.

DivineHand125123d ago

I bought the game yesterday on steam for $4 because Square Enix is trying to replace it with a version that has no mod support.

Prior to yesterday, I had no idea the game had so many great mods until people started making a fuss out of it.

Knightofelemia123d ago

I wish Square would port other old games to newer systems I want Xenogears.

gold_drake123d ago

You can thank FF7 scaring Baldur's Gate 2's director 'S***less' for every RPG since

But BG2 didn't emerge in a vacuum, and in a recent chat with Slandered Gaming it emerged that—while we can thank BG2 for a lot of our favourite RPGs since—we have a whole other game to thank for BG2. That'd be Final Fantasy 7, which lit a fire under BG2 director James Ohlen to go all out with the game's structure and companions, per Trent Oster—who worked on the original Baldur's Gate and has since become CEO of Beamdog, the studio behind the BG1 and BG2 Enhanced Editions.
