XCOM 2 devs explain why it's exclusive to PC.

A focus on PC was the only way to make the XCOM 2 that Creative Director Jake Solomon and his team envisioned when they sat down to talk after completing Enemy Unknown. “When we looked at what we wanted to do with the sequel, we had all these very, very ambitious goals,” said Solomon. On his must-have list were high-fidelity characters and environments, better-looking destruction, physically based rendering, and the crown jewel he’d wanted to get into Enemy Unknown but couldn’t: procedurally generated maps. “To do that, we had to use all of our studio expertise … and our expertise here is PC. That's our home, and that's where we're really comfortable.”

I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that it'll eventually find its way to consoles.

Pandamobile3925d ago

Probably. But I for one am glad they're choosing to focus on one platform for now. It will make the eventual console experience that much better if they get it right on PC.

as a console gamer the last one didn't sell too well on consoles, so i for one am fine if this never comes to consoles.

to pc fanboys(not all pc gamers just the trolls)

you say we want PC gamers to come to consoles but than why were petitions filed for bloodborne to be released on pc? or how about begging yes begging R* for RDR

and how long did you all wait for GTA5? yeh my point exactly

my thing is yes there are PC games i would love to have on consoles, but you guys would also like many games to come to PC. It's a 2 way street

Peace_Love_and_FPS3924d ago

And this is why I have both, different platforms different games, different ways of playing.

PC fanboys: not everything will come to PC, and if you can afford a PC you might as well get a console for exclusives and console exclusives because while you may not agree with paying for online a good game is a good game and the hardware price is justified.

Console fanboys: look kids, you're going to need a computer or laptop for Uni/college, and you're missing out equally as much as the 'master race' fanboys, there are a lot of good games that you may have never heard about which come to PC. Plus, if you're an FPS person (like myself) PC is a great place to expand your skills and tactics.

I don't see any reason other than money to not get both, they work well together really. If you're short on money go with what you know

Peace_Love_and_FPS

time, family and work barely allows me to play one console. yes all of us do have PC's but i don't think some of us are interested in PC gaming. and i do get your point and that was my point too

wyhy can't people enjoy whichever they own without having to feel entitled about something

Seafort3924d ago

I'm primarily a PC gamer but I've played RDR and GTA5 on PS3 and sold both after I'd finished them to get my money back and more. I didn't beg for anything!

I do have GTA5 on PC now and would have liked RDR on PC too but you can't have everything.

I wasn't expecting Bloodborne on PC as it's a PS exclusive just like console gamers shouldn't expect XCOM 2 either as it's a PC exclusive.

If you wanted XCOM 2 you should have bought the game and supported the developers more than you did.

iamnsuperman3924d ago

It might have something to do with the fact it hardly sold on consoles. It is fairly enough. Might make the game better anyway being focused on a platform

Qrphe3924d ago

This, it's all about sales.

Maxor3924d ago

This game is exclusive to PC in the same way that GTA 5 is exclusive to consoles. Not for long.

Seafort3924d ago

You mean like Firaxis other games like Civilization 5 :)

Did you have fun playing it on your consoles? :P

InTheZoneAC3924d ago

I will patiently wait for it to arrive on PS4. There's enough backlog on my ps3/ps4 including Enemy Within that I probably still won't have knocked out by the time it comes out.

Roccetarius3924d ago (Edited 3924d ago )

Developing for PC first, then downscaling it, changing UI elements and such for consoles should be a priority. We all know money is almost irresistable though, so it rarely happens that way.

Alot’s changed in 25 years. We have games with $300 mill budgets, people not interested in games other than Fortnite and Minecraft, the older generation of gamers giving up the hobby or dying off, a period of super bad inflation where the industry decided to hike up prices on games, Gamepass harming game sales, GaaS games being pushed left and right with obnoxious monetization and worse looking/playing (Suicide Squad vs Arkham Knight).

The industry is just shite right now. Games ain’t selling, games cost massive amounts, businesses can’t bleed money and this is what happens. Part of it is on them and part of it is on consumers not buying.

Yi-Long658d ago

Consumers ain't buying because of what they're selling; There is no new SSX or Burnout, everything is now Online Required, everything is 'service', etc.

Indies are still delivering the goods, perhaps even better than ever, because those are often the guys and gals who know what they want to make and just make that and hopefully we dig it as well and support it ...

... but when you look at those multi-million budget AAA games, are they improving on what we have had before? Is the new Forza Motorsport better than a Forza Mototsport 4? Is Halo Infinite better than Halo 3? Is Dragon Age 2 such a huge improvement over the first Dragon Age? Etcetc.

Yeah, graphics have gotten better, worlds have gotten better, but I think a gaming generations stands or falls with diversity and experiences, and a few gens ago we had access to whatever we wanted, so if we wanted a boxing game we picked up one of the boxing games, if we wanted snowboarding we'd pick up one of the snowboarding games, if we wanted to do a rythm game we had DJ Hero, or Guitar Hero, or Rockband. If we wanted to sneak around we had Splinter Cell or MGS or whatever.

We had variety and we had options, and that makes or breaks a generation, imo. You're in a foodcourt of games and they're serving all kinds of different cuisines, and so you'd pick and choose whatever you felt like that day.

Right now, you're in a restaurant, and you're only allowed to pick from one menu, and there's a dress-code, and you have to register, and you have to stay in your seat, etc etc.

The 5 best games on PlayStation Plus Premium that make subscribing worth it

The PS5 is an incredible console, and if you're lucky enough to have one, or have just received one for Christmas then you'll already know there is a host of great games out there.

What you may not be aware of is that if you subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, you'll actually get access to a huge catalogue of titles to play at any time. Many of which you can stream without having to do any downloads. If you have a PlayStation Portal you could even play these titles from your bed.

Abnor_Mal787d ago

Damn the only one I’ve played so far is Miles Morales, although I do own Control and Rift Apart.

ChasterMies787d ago

Odd list. Where is Horizon Forbidden West? Ghost of Tsushima? Demon’s Souls? Returnal? And fun indie games like Superliminal? Where’s “A Plage Tale Requiem” and “Evil West”, the current PS+ Essential offerings?

Exvalos775d ago

Evil west is underrated I'm having a really good time playing it.

juniorpop787d ago

Like seriously? Those are games Extra Tier can get - so not worth upgrading to Premium
