this E3 did nothing but harm for Nintendo. the new peripheral to add extra motion control seems like an admission that the Wii never worked as described initially.

hey, nintendo was on a BIG roll lately. something like this was bound to happen. but in fairness to nintendo, its not like they said come to E3 this year everyone. we have some huge announcements for you.

but for the wrong thing. they apologized for not showing big franchise games, but what they should have apologized for was the quality and people used in the conference which was terribly awkward and weak. However, they could never apologize for something like that because it would be throwing some of their best execs under the bus...well at least they are apologizing for something about that debacle.

Everyone is complaining they didn't get a new Zelda, Mario or Kid Icarus, but those would be 3 titles. What about next E3, will they ask for the same batch again? Maybe DK or Luigi's H. Mansion? Look at PS360 games, there are 40-50+ games for the hardcore this holiday season alone including 3rd parties. The Wii has considerably less, Ummmm... Madworld looks intriguing, Deadly Creatures might be interesting. I'm trying to think of some more that are unique to the Wii.

If the Wii was going to satisfy hardcores we would see the games this holiday like we do for the PS360, and not just from Nintendo.

I had to laugh when Morgan Webb asked Reggie after the Nintendo interview what about the hardcore and he said, what do you mean we just announced Animal Crossing and GTA for DS. That should satisfy them.

At least they were man enough to admit it.

I cant believe that they say they need tons of development time when there games are pretty much last gen looking at best. God of war 2 on the ps3 looks better than any Wii game out in the market, and they at least announced a new one for next spring.

I used to be a huge nintendo, Enix, and Squaresoft fan, but times change and so do people. Nintendo is after a casual type of market, and Squeenix is after anybody to make a quick buck. Both companies have changed for the worst,, and Im happy to say that Im lucky to be a ps360 owner.

I don't know about you guys, but I felt Nintendo turned their backs on hardcore gamers a long time ago. I own a Wii, PS3 and a Xbox 360. The console that gets the least love is Wii.

I use my PS3 for Blu-Ray, Xbox 360 for games and my Wii for nothing! I can't even play a DVD movie in the Wii! The graphics most of the time are subpar (suprise?) and the controls are very awkward and gimmicky.

Personally, I did not like Super Mario Galaxy as I still have not beaten the game. I pledged to beat all games I buy, but I had this game for 7-8 months now and beaten countless 360 games.

An apology doesn't cut it, give me back my $250 or get some more third party support for hardcore game developers. I don't care about Petz for Wii or crap like that.

I know a lot of hardcore Wii owners lost a lot of faith in Nintendo that day...

For once the "consumers" and "industry" got to see what the New Nintendo is all about, and that making sure their beloved casual gamer gets looked after.
The Nintendo conference was embarrasing to say the least, am sure they have games in the works to sweeten the hardcore Nintendo fans, but to let the conference denegrate into a mind bogling display nonsense is simply unforgetable!

despite people upset, at least they apologized. you won't be getting a hard core game (hey if you haven't come to terms with that by now you don't deserve to understand), but at least they stepped off their high horse (which to many on n4g isn't enough despite the fact they you don't own a wii and even if you do you don't admittedly play it) and apologized. enough

Nintendo didnt show any 1st party core titles. That hardly means that their E3 showing was nothing but casual games. CoD isnt a casual game. GTA isnt a casual game. Both were at Nintendo's E3. Of course haters dont care about that. They read that it was all casual so it must be true. The same people that cried 6 motnhs ago because of Poor 3rd party support and NIntendo's own first party franchises are the kids that are now crying because no first party franchises for core gamers showed at E3. Pick a side and stick to you. I bet half of that are crying now also complained about VC. Well they fixed that problem but you cant stop hating long enough to see that.

damage control , not falling for it . I always planned to only buy the nintendo titles released so far and futures zelda , metroid stuff along with 3-4 titles , yet despite that they managed to disappoint me with their utter lack of interest toward traditional gamers .

Not really much of a Nintendo 'fan' so to speak myself but I thought that the Nintendo press conference wasnt as overly bad as people make it seem apart from that snowboarding game at the start with that women (whatever her name was), she was annoying. I thought however the Wii Music and the GTA on the DS would be a great addition for Nintendo fans.

People are way way overeacting, everyone makes mistakes. Some parts of the press conference were quite bad but give Satoru credit he has apologised. If people cant accept his apology then thats just pathetic.

Im kinda lost here. First they had a bad E3. Then they said "F you" to the hard core gamers, and now this? Well i respect what they had given us in the long run of games and ive been with Nintendo for a very long time. Its just that id wish they stop being so hard on themselfs to the hard core gamers.

Sure many people did think it was a bad E3 for them. But for me, i dont really care. Im happy with whats already out for the WII. And if i have to wait for some more AAA games then so be it.

The majority of people who are buying the Wii do not read gaming mags or come to gaming websites.

They bought the Wii to play bowling and will buy few - if any - other games. A bunch of the teachers at the school I work at bought Wiis - they do not follow the industry, let me tell you. All they know is some blurb on the evening news.

Nintendo's hardcore loyal are a very small percentage of their current audience. Therefore, it makes little sense for them to invest in E3.

Just like anything else in this world that is new and tech, people are curious and are going to jump in (no pun intended) and buy, and the Wii is no exception. I knew from the get go what was and what is going to happen with the Wii. The Wii, because of it's somewhat innovative controller (Xavix, anyone?) had people lining up to buy the console, but sooner or later the inevitable was, is, and is going to happen. First off, besides Japan, where the Wii will sell forever despite infinite shovelware, the Wii is going to suffer the same fate of the gamecube and 64, too few great games, and no 3rd party support. I have already started to notice stores starting to stay stocked with Wiis now, and it is only going downhill from here, E3 was a testament. Nintendo found a niche market with nontraditional gamers, giving them games like Wii sports and Wii fit, but understand that besides Mario and Zelda and Metroid, Nintendo no longer caters to hardcore gamers, and really I can see why they are going with this strategy. 360 and PS3 are already spending tons of cash providing highend gaming for hardcore gamers, so what Nintendo did was gamble and target a whole new audience, and it has paid off, so far. But, what Nintendo didnt plan on was its competitors following suit with casual gaming so successfully. Take the 360 and all that is coming to it soon. You will not only be able to play board games (which will bring in a ton of casual gamers) but you will also be able to participate in virtual gameshows! This is huge news! So Microsoft will be catering to both hardcore gamers and casual gamers, and I'm sure the PS3 will have its own brand of casual that will take away from the Wii crowd as well. And really, how many times can we deal with the same few solid first party games that Nintendo always bring to the table??? How about some new Nintendo innovation in the way of games and not something lame like Wii sports? You get the same titles with the Wii and the DS, and with no 3rd party support for the Wii, now that people can actually buy a Wii (which I still believe shortage was strategy by Nintendo to keep Wii surrounded in mystery) sales will fall and by the end of this console war, 360 and PS3 will have the top two spots, with the Wii sales taking the dramatic downturn mid lifecycle...or even before.

It takes a big man to admit fault these days. Very good PR in my opinion.

Back in the day on N64(probably the best console from them) had the craziest FPS's. Turok, PerfectDark, Goldeneye Duke Nukem, Doom, Quake.

Now we have gimmick games and a system with graphics that rival PSP and PS2 but with better resolution.

As for E3! Nintendo wasn't even there.

i'm glade i missed this years E3 then, especially since i only have nintendo cons this gen, (DS and a Wii)
