What stood out to me, is I didn't realize that Kojima had spent 4 years on the game. Two of those years expirementing and preparing for the machine. That is crazy!

To all you fanboys, it took 4 years to create as someone would say "HD" game. I would rather have a slightly sub HD game and get one every two years!

Also, what is up with the mess of frequent installation between levels? MGS4 is a great game, but an odd for sure.

With the success the MGS4 has, the cost of development probably negated it and made the profit margin average. A game like MGS4 should have raked in a lot of cash for Konami.

Pretty much every negative comment in this thread from a hardcore 360 fan is based on jealousy. Again, 360 fans pride themselves on stealing exclusives simply for bragging rights. Essentially, any "it's still coming to 360" comment isn't based on a desire to play the game, it's based on a desire to point fingers and laugh.

Thats the thing, Halo 3 needed to be marketed like that because Halo 2 didn't break any ground so people figured Halo 3 would be a half-assed game too. Well enough about comparisons, of course a PC built with gaming in mind surpasses graphics seen on consoles but this is not about PC's. PC gaming will and always be above console gaming in terms of graphics. Too bad all the good games with good gameplay are first seen on consoles or exclusive on the platform. God of war 2 was running on 300Mhz cpu, 150Mhz gpu with only 4Mb vram and 32Mb main ram.

And for worse looking Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, you needed PIII 1200Mhz, 240Mhz gpu with 64Mb vram and 256Mb main ram.

p.s. playing on TV does not require ultra high resolution, 720p is ENOUGH for 32-42", and 1080p for 46-60". While 768p(sine it`s not upscalled) is NOT enough for 19" display. There is a DIFFERENCE between NEEDED resolution for TV(console)and Monitors(PC) gaming. IF you wouldn`t be a noob, you would know that.

p.p.s. You won`t notice (in most cases) difference between 720p and 1080p in games on 32" TV, and even 40" usually.
They should teach that at schools, if some people still don`t know elementary things.

Whilst I happily agree Kojima has always favored Sony products, he's actually not on their payroll at all and works for a company that can, and does, choose which platforms to publish on, so you are factually incorrect.

PC's are great, and will always be at the cutting edge of whats technically possible for games if you can afford the entry price. I have three 'workstation class machines' in my home office that are all technically mind blowing. But when I want great games experience I go and switch on my PS3 or 360. The hardware consistency means a developer can craft an experience thats optimized for the machine and everyone gets this optimized performance, by simply inserting a disc and playing. I'm sure many others 'get off' on the software available on PC's and they are welcome to do so. But Many many more prefer the console experience - or hadn't you noticed the complete lack of PC related news at E3 and the abysmal sales of PC software?

@ 6.7 Yeah and it was running in a low resolution of 640 x 480 and it shows. Whilst you were running games in that low resolution I was already running games at 1024 x 768, you know the native resolution of MGS4. It is the same now, you are harping at how much of a monster your console is yet it only runs games at 1024 x 768 if you are lucky. I am running ALL my games at 1680 x 1050 natively. That will soon change when I get my new monitor that will support 1900 x 1200.

Oh and I am not a fan of ID I find their games generic, dull and totally devoid of any imagination. I think their new game Rage will be a complete dog pile and I won't be bothering with it. I guess I have a little bit more taste than you credit me for.

Most titles are upscaled of course but the machine does brilliant upscaling. Many of my favourite titles on the platform are some of the superburb PSN games, the majority of which are native 1080P games.

So I actually play all my games on the PS3 in a higher resolution than you do on your 'superior' and many times more expensive PC.

..and get some new equipment dude - a monitor limited that that kind of resolution must be trully old and tired and bad quality.

Titntin, as usually, makes some worthy commentaries and is too bad that people just don't listen. Its true that PCs are clearly superior, always were, to their console brethren. But thats not the point. A console is a system fully optimized for gaming while a PC as to run on top of a bulky, bloated OS. A PC with similar specs will never run a game as well as a similarly spec console simply because the OS is not optimized for gaming, neither is the hardware itself, because of its modular nature. In the end it is superior, but at a cost. Ofcourse, as time goes by, hardware prices drop and you get a clearly superior PC for the same price of a console. But thats not the point.

I've been a PC player for 20+ years, as well as an overcloker, so I know my tech well. The fact is that at this moment I have a high-end PC and a PS3 and I find myself enjoying my PS3 on my new Sony Bravia W4000 46'' quite more than my PC. I ain't gonna spend a single peny more on my PC and when the Xbox 720 comes around its the end of PC gaming for me. PC gaming has nothing to offer me anymore that justifies the upgrades and assles as it did 5 years ago. Give me a 720p top notch game on a 46'' TV over the increasingly rarified PC gaming landscape at 1900x1200 anyday.

I wondered how long it would take you lot to bring out the upscaling card. Yeah you play a game natively rendered at 1024 x 768 UPSCALED to 1920 x 1080. There is a world of difference between doing the res natviely and scaling to it. If you can't see that then you are blind in more ways than one. To claim you are running in higher resolutions because the image is upscaled is nothing but lunacy and a great big cop out.

By the time you factor in the overhead from a general-purpose OS and services running in the background, I would tend to agree with CrazzyMan. You're talking about the difference between a machine with an OS dedicated to gaming (translation: REALLY optimized with a very small CPU/Memory footprint when running games), and a general purpose PC.

Here's an apples-to-apples comparison... Halo 2... On the original XBox, it ran PERFECTLY on:

1) A 733Mhz Intel Coppermine based CPU (Pentium III equivilent)
2) 64MB of shared RAM between system and video
3) An nVidia NV2A (somewhere between the GeForce 3 and 4) video chipset.

And let's take a closer look at the PS2... Show me ONE PC game that could even come close to God of War 2 AND run on a PC with even similar specs to the PS2... You just CAN'T do it when you're developing a game to run on the least common denominator instead of a STANDARDIZED hardware platform.

You guys keep throwing the PS2 games in my face as if they are some sort of benchmark. Yes what they did with the PS2 was good but the games still ran in a low resolution of 640 x 480. It was the same with the xbox 1 all the games ran in a low res of 640 x 480. There were NO high resolution games on the old consoles. At the same time as you were playing god of war 2 etc etc I had been playing Doom 3 in 1024 x 768 for nearly THREE years and Half life 2 in 1024 x 768 for 3 years.

This is what you don't seem to be getting into your heads, there was a reason for the extra specs needed for PC versions. We were running your 480p games in NATIVE high resolution, that is why Halo on the PC needed twice the PC that the xbox 1 was because PC gamers wouldn't run a game in such a pathetically low res as 480p. But you won't take any of this in there is no convincing someone that has been blinded by the Sony PR machine.

As for my mega PC costing me ridiculous amounts of money. Hm another LIE if memory serves I built it around the same time as the PS3 came out in my country and it cost me an extra £150 over the price of the PS3 (which was £425). I believe it was :-

It runs everything at 1680 x 1050 with no problems. I will of course naturally be upgrading soon. Not because I have too, but because I WANT TOO. I want to get the PC up to spec so I can play games at 2560 x 1600. Why would I do that I hear you ask ? Because I want to get the absolute best out of my hobby, I enjoy messing with PC tech and you start to out grow PC's after a certain length of time.

Unlike anyone else on the planet, you manage to run your PC without a case, without an operating system and without a keyboard and mouse, and without any drives to install software from. You obviously enjoy playing in silence too, as you've not included a sound card either. In addition, unless you are playing it through a TV (and we know you are not as you are running at less than 1080P res) you also need a monitor and and some speakers.

The fact is, your arguments are complete folly. The quality of a gaming experience is NOT primarily determined by the resolution you run it at.... and if it were, all 'our' 1080P games would be far superior to your 'puny' resolution.

Like any well balanced games player who actually enjoys games over tech, I'll take my gaming entertainment where ever I can find it. That will sometimes include games on my PC's (all three of which would eat your for breakfast), but will also include the 360, the PS3, and god help me, even the WII on the rare occasion theres a game I enjoy.
There no question that the bulk of the defining games of the last couple of generations have been on consoles, if your not playing them, its simply you who are missing out. My PC's remain largely used for Retro gaming with Emulation, and RTS games where they have strong advantage.

Oh - and if your going to assert with such voracity that Kojima is paid by Sony, please, do tell us your source. He doesn't work for them and thats a fact. SPE's within the PS3 Are a Graphic POWER House. These aren't General Processing units (like a CPU) But are more equivalent to a GPU's (graphics Processor Units) Like seen on Video cards. These DSP's crunch Specialised Algorithms better, and faster than a GP CPU.

The Spe's are not designed around graphic's, and actually lag's behind the 360's cpu in everyway just about, far as number's are concerned. Just go look it up.
