Agreed. Don't get people telling others how to spend their money. Because he has an issue with the game or pre-orders in general, doesn't put him in charge of other people's choices.

Its not just open world games. Driveclub, Project Cars, Halo MCC, COD AW, BF4, and many more over recent years have had major launch issues. Nothing wrong with waiting it out and letting other people test it out before you drop $60.

I'd say the amount of branching paths in Until Dawn could be pretty taxing on resources as well, and seems to me from prerelease that the amount of content would be on par w/ open worlds, especially through multiple playthroughs. Bugs are bugs at the end of the day, the open world nature is no real excuse, most of Rockstars output typically comes off w/o a hitch on every single release. Devs should never ship a game w/ frequent game breaking bugs, I don't care what they are shooting for. Do you not criticize a singer for screwing up while trying to sing in a key & timbre that's out of their range? I'm all for pushing your boundaries but mistakes are mistakes, and the quality of open world titles is exactly as subjective as the quality of any game in any genre. Open worlds have been done a thousand times over, but games w/ pathways as far reaching as this one is a whole helluva lot more rare, and if anything that's a much bigger scope & a harder target than just another open world title

And yet The walking dead is on many a GOTY lists. The hypocrisy is real.

It is not a quantic dream game , even if it seems to follow its formula . And Heavy Rain as a gameplay besides button presses . The choices are part of its gameplay , just like it is for stuff like Walking Dead and GoT .

You dont have to like it , but let's not pretend it's as linear an experience as the mentioned The Order 1886 , at least .

Thing is at least Heavy Rain was original

TellTale gets all their success and head starts with reviews because of the huge franchise they base their games off

@Fox- I wouldn't say all that. Walking Dead isn't really even about...well the Walking Dead IP, only 2 characters from the book are on the first game and only briefly and don't really have much to do with teh over all concept.

It might have gotten marketing based on being the Walking Dead in terms of IP branding, but it legit has nothing to do with The Walking Dead and I've read all the books and watched the whole show.....played BOTH Seasons and 400 days and can legit tell you, it has almost nothing to do with The Walking Dead as an IP other then name, zombies....thats it.

Thats like having a Vampire game with the Buffy name and Buffy isn't in it and one of her friends shows up for less then a scene and we attribute its success due to Buffy lol.

Walking Dead is a great game based on TellTale being a great team. ie as to why that other Walking Dead game failed, give credit where its due, folks don't just praise a game and say its GOTY JUST based on IP, that is not only silly, it makes very little sense.

Every Star Wars game isn't great, every Transformer game...isn't great, ie every Walking Dead game isn't great.

TellTale clearly did something based on actually creating a great game. The praise is very much deserved, they could have made an IP with JUST zombies and called it something else and I assure you, I would have still praised it. I often even forget its about the Walking Dead as in my mind, the IPs are not even the same. They merely share the same name.

The fact that you said heavy rain is a one and done game shows you never played it or know anything about it so you have ZERO credibility when criticizing that game. that game has over 20 different endings and countless decisions that drastically change the story and direction. So you can keep that one and done nonsensical statement.

If nothing else proves that you are full of it and never played that game it is this. You just read a couple negative user reviews and a random comment by the game creator and came here pretending to have played the game.

Hence the reason "gaming journalists" are the joke of the journalist industry.

Well that exactly what she did when she mentioned Heavy Rain . Of course like most cautious writers , she initially praises it , then proceed with that argument .

And even enter some irrelevant tangent about how quickly those games (and other solo and/or short gaming experiences ) come back used and loses value at retail .

Personally i dont care , if it's true ... but if that's the sort of things people focus upon , under the ridiculous veil of "hey games cost alot" , well it's sad ... that's how games like Vanquish die . But i guess more power to them ...

Yeah, it's a real shame that some publishers still don't add trophies, I mean, even Disney do and they even update games to add them

Some PS2 classics have trophies so hopefully Soul Calibur 3 has it.

And ps1 classics not having trophies is dissapointing but at least they give you the new version for free if you bought the old ps1 classic.
