For me its a dissapointment, i think the actual controlls destroys the hole game.
When you stear Geralt, he feels so stiff, add a little inputlag to the game and you got yourself a horrible control design.
Im an RPG fan and Thats my favourite genre btw.
i was looking forward to this game the most this year alongside Bloodborne.
The game has quality, indeed. From the graphics to the voice acting, a huge openworld with Loads of Sidequests, the game is a quality game. No doubt about that. But for me personaly, if the controlls doesnt fit my taste, automatically the game loss my interest, gameplay/controlls for me is the most important aspect of videogames generally, and the Witcher controlls feels to Clunky and stiff for me. I don't get all the reviews that say that the combat and the controll system is tight and perfect, are they biased or blind to the game, I dont know?
I've been playing video games since the mid 80s, I never have any problems to learn or adapt to a certain control system. I got a quick learning curve.
But even after several hours into the game, it still feels so Damn stiff.
A Damn shame really, like I saiD, it's a quality game no doubT.

Bloodborne's Controlls, now that's a perfect gameplay/control system.
10/10

Allsystemgamer4019d ago

Once you get used to how it controls it plays near flawlessly. The only issue I have is steering geralt through tiny spaces. Combat is very satisfying once you learn in completely. Comparing it to bloodborne is just silly. Completely different combat styles.

Watch someone play witcher 3s combat who has perfected it. It's litterally aim the stick in the right direction, use the right attack.

Dario_DC4019d ago

Yes, you can get used to it BUT it will never be flawless! Not even close! You can work around it thou...

thereapersson4019d ago (Edited 4019d ago )

I do agree that Bloodborne has some of the tightest controls of any action RPG I've played. The camera could use work but that's more an inherent effect of the type of game itself and not a design flaw.

brodychet4018d ago

pretty sure he was comparing bloodborne's responsiveness and lack of inertia-esque gameplay. Geralt feels sluggish and every aspect of moving feels heavy. Swimming is a hassle; almost drowned in shallow water because he wouldn't go up. Horseback-riding is a chore when the horse keeps stopping at trees that we weren't even moving toward. trying to pick up loot requires you to be DIRECTLY over the pile AND looking right at it. Just ridiculous. If they fix those simple problems; the game is close to perfect.

Lilrizky4018d ago

Agree totally about the tight space, but in the scope of everything else id still give it a 10/10

How is the combat? Was one of the main reasons I never completed the second game. Loved the first game's combat but controls have always been terrible.

I do wonder how The Witcher escapes criticism for its awful controls and combat but maybe my scale is different than the next person's.

Palitera4019d ago (Edited 4019d ago )

100% agreed.

TW3 blows lots of games in the overhype scale. Devs themselves blatantly lied about the state of the game. It is far from finished.

The main problem with it is the input lag. The frame rate. It is just poor coding all around heavily impacting the gameplay.

Screw it. Finally the reasonable reviews started appearing.

alexkarkar4019d ago

so true, the game is disgusting for me. clunky controls, boring combat, jittery feeling. after such finely optimized game like gta5 and da:inquisiton witcher feels, sorry, like crap. and the font for which you need a loupe... the game is broken and has no soul. it speak volumes about consumers if they gladly devour such shit.

Allsystemgamer4019d ago

GTA 5 ran consistently under 30fps on last gen systems. This is the best looking open world RPG right now. Sorry you're way too immature to sit and learn to play the game. It plays very different than everything else. It's not a hack and slash like most people claiming the combat sucks think it to be. The controls are very VERY easy to use.

alexkarkar4019d ago (Edited 4019d ago )

You don't know wtheck you are talking about. When i played fallout, arcanum, neverwinter nights, you probably weren't even born yet.I need to sit and learn. Well, sorry, i don't want to sit and learn to eat shit. Three mine pet peeves for the game: 1.the conrlols. It feels like the game takes place in water, that how ridiculously bad they are.
2. the jittery feelings. i mean the game literally is jerking all the time. And it's not mine pc. I watched utube videos of the gameplay on pc with titans and on ps4. I don't understand how they play this jerking shit and rejoice of something. That's plain moronic to me.
3. Font. Sorry, i lost my loupe somewhere.
The game is shit. Feel free to eat it.

Dfooster4019d ago

Agreed, people want instant gratification these days and then complain of boredom. I think the witcher has a nice balance between learning new game mechanics without being overwhelmed and not feeling stale or repetitive after many hours. The smaller storylines are really well done with interesting characters, it's a really good RPG if you learn how to play it.

Patrick4018d ago (Edited 4018d ago )

I've been playing games since the Atari 2600 and didn't have any problem with this game. In fact I love it just as much as Bloodborne, although it is a very different game. So many gamers just have no patience these days. I'll admit the game has some small issues, (got a good chuckle from a couple horseless riders doing a great impression of Monty Python and the holy grail) but with a game this massive, some problems are to be expected. Some here need a bar of soap in their mouth what with all the crap that they're spewing.

styferion4019d ago

actually it speaks volumes about you when you think your standard is the only thing that's right and can't even respect other people's judgement and taste.

Mr_GoolyPunch4019d ago

Yay! I just awarded alexkarkar his 20th "Disagree" vote!

All hail The Wild Hunt!

poor_cus_of_games4019d ago

Someone didn't play the witcher lol

Griever4019d ago

3/5 meaning 6 out 10!? For Witcher 3!? Is the author crazy??

M1ST4K34019d ago

Best part of it is the "tedious quests"... Really!? I'm loving even the side quests... Each one has its own detail or a plot twist. I agree the game has issues, but this review is trying too hard to be different. For the clicks, prob.

Griever4019d ago

The sidequests are so amazing in this game. They have excellent story. Even my wife was following the story of the sidequests. She stayed awake until 4 am with me just to see the story unfold for the Moonwraith sidequest.

The actor who portrayed Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher series of games has died

Alexander Morton, the Scottish actor probably best known for starring in British comedy drama Monarch of the Glen - but known to me for being the hilariously foul-mouthed dwarf Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 - has died aged 81.

Cause they play NBA2k26, COD and gamepass

3x less sales than Playstation.
3x less consoles sold than Playstation.

Per captita, it averages out that the same number of users are buying CDP games regardless of platform, no?

Bathyj63d ago

The exact same or possibly more because a series S, initial investment and effort to Port to Xbox consoles for a third of the return.

Simply not worth it

LMGk63d ago

“ Simply not worth it”

And yet, basically every game comes to Xbox.

NotoriousWhiz63d ago (Edited 63d ago )

A third is a pretty big number to be honest. Like would you rather make 15 million or 20 million? That's the difference that a third makes.

GamingSinceForever64d ago

Hey it’s ok. They are really impressed with XBOx’s new CEO so exclusivity is on the way. 😂

Loktai64d ago

Ok but I mean be logical ... modern PC, Switch, PS4 PS5 then you have XBOX, of all of those XBOX is probably only 10 percent... I mean, what do you expect? 10 percent increase in sales is still nothing to sneeze at, remember - this is CD projekt red and they sell a lot of software. 10 percent of their sales is probably what most studios DREAM of selling .... just playing devils advocate..... its easy to say LOL haha XBOX.... but.. I mean we know what it is at this point. I havent bought on since my xbox one X and before that I only used other peoples xboxes since the OG XBOX and stick with PC and Playstation and switch OLED, but .. I mean.... theres nothing WRONG with an xbox considering its just not the best - but they work fine. make no mistake.
