I watched all three conferences. Nintendo really disappointed me with their boring presentation. Microsoft's announcements were lackluster and the ONLY thing that saved them was the FFXIII announcement. But Sony did better than both of them, imo.

nobody won imo. both were decent but both were better than nintendo.

But all real articles claim the 360 as the winner. Although all three "epic-ly" sucked this year the one that sucked the least was the 360. Read all the articles that dont start with official,Playstation,xbox or Nintendo and you'll see who won and why.

It mostly comes down to what you are a fan of. Both Sony and Microsoft had good confrences catering to their fans. Now Wii on the other hand.... I don't know what to make of that, but oh well...

Nintendo had the worst E3 of all time! I'm truly glad I sold my Wii for $450!

Microsoft's big new was a stolen exclusive that's going to be full fledged on PS3 and then a watered-down port on the 360 a year later! The rest of the conference was telling us thing we already new a bland new interface, Mii rip-offs and poorly played "casual games"

SONY had the only conference with something immediately available(Video Store) plus announced GoW3, Resistance PSP, the revolutionary MAG etc.

SONY won! I have PS3 and 360 and I played mostly 360 until MGS4 and I have not touched my 360 since! I was hoping for Microsoft to give me a reason to keep using my 360 (besides GeoW2 cus I didn't like the first one) but they didn't! NetFlix is OK but they only have 10% of NetFlix's library and NO new releases and its not in HD.

Microsoft just copied Nintendo and SONY. Microsoft is so untrustworthy with the way they word stuff. For example - "Rock Band 2 will be on Xbox 360 exclusivley in September" It is true that it will only be on 360 in September but it will be on PS3 2 months later! They made it sound like it was a permanent exclusive, which is smart, but it makes you think "I wonder what else they're trying to hide"

are they only comparing the press conferences or are they talking about the cumulative showings for the week. I cannot make an informed choice because I only watched the Sony stuff, but I was impressed the way Guerilla gradually released information about KZ2 on a daily basis. The video store is great and I am happy that we are able to transfer those videos to the PSP. LBP was a joy to see and Infamous gameplay looks like a blast. I was a little disappointed that we didn't see some of the unseen titles (Heavy Rain, Wardevil, etc.), but I think that Sony is breaking up some announcements for different gaming shows. With the speed of the internet, everything becomes "old news" very quickly. Sony's Gamer's Day, E3, Leipzig, TGS are all within 5 months of each other. I can see waiting, especially with all of the first party studios Sony owns.

Sony's "Playstation 3" phenomenon, as well as Blu Ray will be lucky to even reach HALF OF THAT.....

Here's why....
Star Ocean 4 Last Hope is *PERMANENTLY* exclusive to Xbox360 now, in Japan especially along with Infinite Undiscovery. Of course, a spinoff of the game will one day come to the ps3 down the line but that doesn't mean much. What consumers see in Japan is STAR OCEAN, INFINITE UNDISCOVERY, new RPGs and events exclusive to 360.

Granted, this will not mean entirely all that much since the Xbox360 will push its way up in Japan but not at a fast rate...it will EASILY meet 1 million sales in japan despite being last.

Playstation 3, will on the other hand stay selling as it has......MORE THAN TWICE AS BAD as its predecessors, in Japan. Where Nintendo Wii will DOMINATE the Japanese market with literally over 10 million units sold and climbing. They're half way already, PS3 has absolutely NOTHING in japan that will get the market to grab it since dragon quest and the like literally moved to the handhelds.

Further, the HD GAMING market in JAPAN is not ever going to take off into the obscene popularity of the DS, ps1, etc. It DOES NOT interest the Japanese game media enough, as much as handhelds and ipods do. Don't be surprised when there is NEVER a repeat of the ps1 success there.

And now to the main point of the contention......Sony "CLAIMS" it will reach 150 million sales when that is entirely impossible, given that they no longer have GRAND THEFT AUTO exclusive nor the trade-mark casual games everywhere.....The Nintendo Wii does, at under $200 and more significantly the Nintendo Wii cornered the casual game market with no trouble that the ps2 dominated last time.

Further, compared to the Wii, PS2 or DS....the PS3 has NO compelling software exclusives that make over $350 a worthy investment. Its "FINAL" must have title metal gear solid, is not must-have enough to drive it to win in europe apparently. Metal Gear is not even selling as much as Call of Duty, perhaps as expected. Splinter Cell will also release for 360 only long before PS3 is even mentioned, and should literally sell twice as fast in Europe. Grand Theft Auto and Gears of War bundles, should literally fly off the shelves once the 360 puts them in packages.

Meanwhile, the Wii will continue to destroy and DOMINATE europe because it has the casual market. I see 360 getting barely a SLICE of the wii's casual empire, and PS3 taking barely a sliver. Further Singstar is not anywhere NEAR as popular as WII's new motion games, and anyone daring to say such is delusional.

After all is said and done and Halo 4, the next Gears, the next Perfect Dark, and the next Killer Instinct number 3, the 360 will naturally be crowned the champion in Europe and "LIPS" as well as Rock Band 2 should do mass sales across europe. The Wii will always stay ahead, but between the 360 and PS3, the 360 will likely at the very end take the second spot entirely.

And as everyone in the world knows, now with Final Fantasy multi, Grand Theft Auto multi, and Halo Blue as well as the casual games + Xbox Live & Call of Duty, Xbox360 will completely dominate its home market of North America & even sometimes surpass the Wii. Though this will take a long time and price reductions, the 360 will even run away with some of the Wii's North American audience.

The remaining "PS1"crowd look to literally jump to the 360 by default, since they have all the same games like Resident Evil & Final Fantasy as well as Half Life EP:3 and exclusives. Plus any first party games from Halo Blue onward. The "PLAYSTATION 3" and its first party games, are not inspiring enough, nor worthy enough(yet) for anyone including Blu Ray fanatics to justify buying the PS3 in gigantic numbers. In EITHER the market of Europe, or North America, its largest markets.

Blu Ray NEVER took off, and it will NOT take off to dominate. It will do barely alright while Flash Drives, and future drives better than Blu Ray will come out that eventually take 40% of the movies market away from DVD. If they are lucky because DVD will take another 10 years to achieve market saturation. DVD is so popular, that that's all people need, besides VHS and other old junk. Further, Digital Distribution will NEVER be as popular as Flash Drives, the optical media which surpasses Blu Ray, or IBM's new cards. Bank on it!

Suck it up Sony and ready yourselves for the Playstation 4, because the war is JUST about over for you. Next time might be more important.

There was a battle?, I was trying to stay awake durring G4's E3 coverage of the PS3 Conference. I honestly forced myself to sit through it. At one point I was looking forward towards any impressive news so it would have justify the time I wasted watching the conference, I was actaully happy when dude mentioned GOW3 then it was just a movie.

Lets put it like this:
Millions of people love Nickelback; they buy Nickelback albums, Nickelback t-shires, posters, they go to Nickelback concerts.

Does that mean Nickelback is good?
No. All that means that millions of people have extremely bad taste in music. It's doesn't change the fact the Nickelback is really really bad.

Dude the 360 sucks. The Wii well it's cute for an hour or two. But just because all your little buddies got one too, that doesn't mean it's good. Even if the playstation remains in last place (which won't happen slugger) it is still easily the best of the three consoles.

If I were a PS3 fanboy I wouldn't be worrying about E3 I'd be more worried about MSFT's pressence in the remaining shows this year where they will show off more of what they just showed us and more standard hardcore type of content like Spinter cell, Halo, Alan Wake etc.

again all microsoft did was announce software upgrades multiplats and 2 exclusives thats it. the software updates are all blatant ripoffs the multiplats are just that, multiplats meaning sony gamers are playing the same games. so why bother showing them in your keynote, oh i know because you have nothing else thats why. you have only those two exclusives one is practically an add on. the other graphicaly looks like it could have been done on either of the last two consoles (ps2 or xbox1) yeah that was amazing alright.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
