Nintendo assisted with Xenoblade Chronicles X’s online functionality

NE: "Xenoblade Chronicles X was a huge undertaking for Monolith Soft. Not only is the game quite a bit bigger than the original title on Wii, but this was also the studio’s first time working with HD development."

Tetsuya Takahashi:"As this was our first HD title, it was decided from the start that we won’t use cutting edge technology."

So Xenoblade Chronicles X isn't the Wii U at its max potential?

That's amazing (meaning, the Wii U is very efficient console in the right set of hands)!

Neonridr4036d ago

leaves a lot of room for improvement for their next title.

I remember this article from Shin-En:
http://www.nintendolife.com...

The basic gist: "If Developers Can't Make Great Looking Games On Wii U, It's Their Own Fault."
Given what both Shin en and Monolith are accomplishing, I would say that's more true than ever.

MSBAUSTX4035d ago

Exactly! This means that the Wii U is capable of even better visuals but it requires the developers to invest the proper time and energy in to getting the results the Wii U is capable of producing. This is why Third party games are not on the console and why the ones that have been are not done very well.

They want to pump them out one after another to make as much money as fast as they can. You can't do that when it takes you twice as long to produce a game for the Wii U as it does for XB1 or PS4. I am glad to see some of this finally being validated instead of the usual "Wii U is weak" crap. I am really looking forward to this game and Shin En's new racer. Both are amazing looking.

It means Zelda and what ever Retro are cooking with all that new talent will be something truly special...

Looking forward to Devils Third....

Devil's Third. Devil's Third, Devil's Third! I'm done waiting now. Never mind another solid month of waiting!!!!!

* Basically they wanted to know they could walk before they started running.

Sounds like they kept their egos in check and wanted to make sure it worked first rather than risk a choppy game.

It still looks beautiful even after all that.

* Means improvements can be made in future games meaning we most likely haven't seen the Wii U reach it's full potential.

* For having lesser specs than XB1 & PS4, The Wii U still puts out some beautiful games.

Just depends on the developer and artist.

Of Course nintendo would help them. Monolith Soft are owned by nintendo!

RoseSapphire4035d ago

If Ninteodo assisted does that mean it only allows you to pair up with random people, or have to put in a friend code, or you can't have voice chat? Or perhaps they just don't think online is necessary at all.

eyeofcore4035d ago

Don't jump to a conclusion you desire and don't be ignorant.

You can pair up with random people or invite your friends through friend list and it doesn't have voice chat not due to Nintendo. You have text chat with friends or strangers, trade up with up to 32 people, solve squad quests with other players, recruit NPC's/avatars from/made by other players and you have 4 player online co-op quests.

RoseSapphire4035d ago

It's called sarcasm based on Nintendo's complete lack of understanding how the internet functions. Only recently did they start allowing more freedom in their online games.

DryBoneKoopa854035d ago

Clearly the Wii U is no slouch. I can't wait to see what The Legend Of Zelda Wii U looks like next year. I'm sure it's going to look more beautiful then ever.

Also something else to take away from this article and his comment is Monolith Soft is already gearing up for their next tittle. If that is true I can't wait to see what Monolith Soft does on the Nintendo NX.

AKR4035d ago

We still have about 2.5 years before the NX could be comfortably released. They haven't achieved the Wii U's max yet, so I doubt they'll be shifting focus on the next system fully already. Also, we still don't even know what the NX is, and by that I mean which sort of console.

DryBoneKoopa854035d ago

Oh I know the NX is still a little ways out. I'm just saying it took Monolith Soft about three years to get Xenoblade Chronicles X out on the Wii U because it was such a MASSIVE undertaking of a project.

I'm also just saying their gearing up for their next project already which most likely means early concept and ideas for what their next game will be about.

I'm not one of those idiots who thinks the Nintendo NX will be out next year lol.

Loadedklip4035d ago (Edited 4035d ago )

Nintendo assisted? Nintendo who exactly? Monolith Soft is 100% owned by Nintendo the publisher. I assume they mean EAD since Monolith Soft is technically as Nintendo as any other 1st party Nintendo studio.

Iwata mentioned he wants more teamwork between all their teams. Guess this is a start.

U.S. patent examiner rejects Nintendo’s summoning characters patent as obvious: non-final ruling

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).

Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.

PRIMORDUS59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Makes sense. It's been nearly 3 years since the DLC for 3 came out. The next Xenoblade or whatever they end up calling it will probably come out next year.
