Is EA Access still worth buying?

MWEB GameZone Writes:" Electronic Arts’ subscription-based gaming service, aptly called EA Access, has matured since its launch on the Xbox One, with additional free games adding value to the service and exciting new games coming out. Is EA Access still worth its $60 annual fee?

But with only one exciting EA game for 2015, is it worth it?"

I wouldn't call this a worthwhile thing in the first place and then questioning if Sony was wrong to not add it is just a moot point for me really. Most of the games are the rehashed sports games anyways.

thrust4027d ago

Wow really it costs £20 a year for a lot of games and other things like 1 week early access bonus!

I think your bitter for some strange childish reason.

Saijahn4027d ago

EA has 2 games if not 3 that's coming out this year that will give EA Access members early access and 10% off.

I understand if you're not a sports fan then so far EA Access wouldn't be worth the subscription, but if you are you're getting more bang for your buck than any other program out there that's just a fact.

Isn't that early access for 6 hours or so per game? Also the 10% off is over the digital store prices while I can buy them physically for less than that.
Granted, the 10% off on DLC and season passes and the free demo stuff seems rather interesting tho.

If you're not a sports fan (or not an US sports fan) living in Europe I don't think it's such a great deal.

It could be made more interesting when they add games from EA Partners to The Vault.

(please note, digital store/MSRP prices are €69.99 in Europe, physical games are usually between €50 and €55, sometimes even €45, for recent/pre-order games)

You know it is funny the information is out there and to say it is only 6 hours is a laugh. First of all Battlefield Hardline is 10hrs with a week before release. It doesn't matter how you spend that 10 hours for the game. You can play 2 hours the first day it is available and continue playing the remaining 8 hours 3 months from now. You are not required to finished the 10 hours before release date. I like sports games and it has been worth it for me and the %10 goes towards discounted games as well not just new releases. I picked up NBA Live 15 for $9 digital before it was available in the Vault.

Saijahn4027d ago

The early access is different times, like Mustang said, Battlefield Hardline was 10 hours. I played that for a week all the way up to the release date.

If you can find it cheaper physically then hey go for it. But to say EA Access isn't a worthwhile program is ridiculous. The value has proven itself easily in this first year.

LOL again at people who are just trying to manufacture negatives against what is the best service offering so far on any console.

People say it is not worth it because the vault has lots of sports games. I don't play any of EA sports games. I don't even use the vault, and still get more than my sub is worth.

Seriously, gamers no seeing value in Star wars, battle field, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, PVZ ... 6hrs of play before buying with 10% off if you buy, is completely nuts to me. Just forget about the vault, which on it's own has huge value to many gamers.

Sony fanboys need to stop even trying to attract this. There is no downside, as you can always not get it if you happen to OWN an Xbox One

Sadly it's because people on the internet seem to possess grudges against certain companies, that these darling people of the internet, arguably carry out when they have nothing else to denounce. I am rather fond of EA and what they have been pushing their company to obtain over the past few years. As well as Ubisoft and their determination to deliver dozens of games over the course of a year, across multiple platforms, for their fans to fall in love with. Yet, people don't see that. They tend to focus their mindset on the most negative thing of all, yet they are only hurting their own gaming experience.

Bravo internet, you lost.

Sayai jin4027d ago

It's only $30 for an annnual subscription.

For me it's a great value.

poppinslops4027d ago

Same... without it I might have wasted money on Battlefield 4 (I liked the idea of it until I tried it), not bought Dragon Age: Inquisition (which I didn't like the look of, until I tried it)... this Star Wars Battlefront controversy is irrelevant to me, since I get to play it for a pittence.

People bang on about potential downsides (I don't know if it's EA's reputation, or just a bunch of salty dogs) but I'm yet to have a problem.

ZombieDreddZA4027d ago

Haven't bought EA Access yet myself, but am definitely
considering it. I still think it looks like great value.

Fro_xoxo4027d ago

Well, Considering the fact that EA is "extremely pleased" with it.

I guess the audience has spoken.

Godmars2904027d ago

How does a company being pleased with something, making money off of it, equal customer satisfaction?

I mean cable companies talk up their profits, but people aren't all that pleased with them.

poppinslops4027d ago

People don't get much of a choice when it comes to cable... Southpark's 'Informative Murder-Porn' illustrates this 'nicely'.

EA give us a variety of ways to play their games... EA Access offers the most value for the lowest amount of $$$, but it's not like we can't just cancel and go back to buying boxed games.
