Gaming mouse myths busted

Optical is more accurate than laser. Higher DPI is always better. Acceleration is the devil. Wireless mice are laggier than wired. Your Windows mouse sensitivity setting must be set to 6. If you understand any of that, chances are you’ve spent some time reading about gaming mice, trying to figure out what actually matters in a gaming mouse.

Quite interesting. Mostly the bit that confirms Optical mice do actually offer more consistant tracking than laser mice. But then why are almost all modern gaming mice using lasers, including Logitechs own offerings?

I fancy buying a new mouse so it's a well-timed article for me.

I've just bought the Roccat KONE PURE for £40 to replace an old Logitech MX518 (Which is an optical gaming mouse, Bizarrely now listed as £128 on Amazon currently) which I paid about £60 for I think when it came out.

Anyway ignoring the silly Roccat Talk software & pulsating lights. It's fully customisable so you can switch all that off. The KONE PURE feels like the better mouse & the easy shift button although fiddly to manually setup (if you want to change it) once working is a great way to still keep a very simple mouse but with a load of extra functionality. Highly recommend it.

Thanks, I'll have a look at it.

I've got a Logitech G701s or something like that at the moment, it was their high-end wireless gaming mouse about a year ago. I don't really get along with the button placements. Button placements and tracking consistency are all I'm really looking for, and if it's wireless that's a bonus.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit74d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing74d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9274d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
