PS2 is one of my all time favorite consoles. It has possibly one of the best gaming libraries ever.

The PlayStation 2, my god. I'd buy five brand new ones and live off those alone.

I've got a couple Japanese imported games, and will certainly love to purchase a console that could run them. Or stop being lazy and figure out how to bypass or destroy the lockout.

PS2 was nice but overrated. It had it's share of good games but most of the time if I could get the game for Gamecube, Xbox, and sometimes Dreamcast, I would. PS2 always had the crappie version of Splinter Cell, Man Hunt, Sonic Heroes, Red Faction 2, Vice City (once the exclusive timed out), Code Veronica, Crazy Taxi, Battlefront 2, Call of Duty, DOA2, Soul Calibur 2, Dynasty Warriors, etc... And the people that thought Madden 05 was better than NFL 2k5 were usually playing the PS2 version which was severely gimped in comparison to the Xbox version...custom soundtracks, player models, video halftime shows (not ps2 still frames), and it was across the board for Sports. Jrpgs are fine for some people but I out grew them on Genesis and Super Nintendo. Kotor, Jade Empire, Morrowind and Fable were more interesting to me because of the freedom/nonlinear worlds.

I still had to play those exclusives like VF4, Yakuza, God of War, and SOC, but I always felt like the PS2 was underpowered. Dreamcast games like Soul Calibur, Resident Evil, Head Hunter, and Ready to Rumble looked cleaner than their PS2 counterparts.

My Slim has recently started giving me the disc read errors unlike my phat one (which had/has a small flaw that I kind of fixed)

I just feel that my Slim has to be from a bad batch... Im pretty sure its not the laser or motor spinning the disc because once I get it to read, it starts working perfectly.

Oh yeah, and now is the best time tp get into PS2 collecting (if you are interested) because the console is dirt cheap and PS2 games are at their cheapest and still easy to find.

My game collection (which is still modest) is like 40%-50% PS2 games.
