HG:
Have you ever noticed how no one ever talks about Master of Orion 3? It was so universally loathed that fans prefer not to acknowledge its existence. We met with StarDrive 2’s lead developer, Daniel DiCicco, last August and left with the feeling that a spiritual successor to Master of Orion 2 was right around the corner. DiCicco introduced his new game saying “People kept asking why I did not make StarDrive 1 play more like Master of Orion 2”. Shrugging, a smile formed on his face as he continued “So that’s exactly what I plan for StarDrive 2”. Eight months down the line and some 25 hours into the game, the end result speaks for itself: he wasn’t kidding.

Justin at Skewed and Reviewed looks at Star Drive 2 and liked what he saw. He enjoyed the mix of action and strategy, although he did have a few issues with the final game.

GES Writes: "Explore the stars, meet new civilizations and investigate abnormalities. Stardrive 2 allows you to do all this in an epic 4x Strategy game by Zero Sum Games and Iceberg Interactive.
The first Stardrive was a great success and Stardrive 2 is following in it’s foot steps. 4X Strategy games can become monotonous very quickly especially as most do not have a story line or structure to follow. In its own rights 4x Strategy games is about freedom and building your empire your own way but there is something different from Stardrive 2. In the beginning it felt like any other 4x Strategy but the more I played and when I actually started grasping the way this game goes it kept drawing me in."

Not the easiest 4X introduction, but offers a unique option for those searching for an empire-builder.
