This is just plain awesome if you payed the full retail price!

mariusmal6523d ago

yep. they should this every times this kind of situations happens. but then again, they only did it because the gfx cards market is so competitive. if they had some kind of monopoly they wouldnt do this.
there are no good samaritans here.

Well no other NVIDIA vendor is doing this. EVGA has shown time and again why they are the best and most trusted source for NVIDIA video cards. Competition or not the fact is when the EVGA GeForce GTX 280 was released on June 17th it retailed for $649.99. It can now be purchased for $449.99 at NewEgg.com.

They also provide great tech support, and their RMA turn around time is generally very fast. There have also been times, when they have extended my Step-Up period by a couple of days so that I could get newest video card. There are certainly many reasons this company has a legion of fans.

yes i know about it. i owned and evga but now im on a BFG 9800 gtx
i was stating that hey take care of their supporteres because the market is competitive, with lot's of others brands making nvidia and ati based cards.

imagina that evga had the market monopoly. they wouldnt do this. why ? because everyone would have to buy their card, no alternative brand, good support or no support.

but hey dont get me wrong, i think this is the way to go.

xfx is doing the same too.

TiKiMaN16523d ago

Hey Thanks for pointing that out. It's not quite like the $150 in EVGA bucks or $125 cash back, but it's still really nice to see:

"Sudden changes in the market have caused the price for the XFX GeForce GTX 280 and the XFX GeForce GTX 260 to drop. As a result, we want to thank you for your continued loyalty and for believing in the XFX brand. And, to show our commitment to you, we are issuing up to $120 CASH BACK to customers who purchased one of these cards between June 16, 2008 and July 11, 2008. The actual amount of cash back will be determined based on the model purchased, as well as the date and price of the purchase."

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing26d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit26d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing26d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
