What did you think? Was it fun? Was it heart-wrenching and upsetting?
We got a few, exciting additions to the Wii in terms of hardware. We have the best solution to a parent's concern over voice chat, being Wii Speak. We have an enhanced gaming experience in the Wii MotionPlus.
There are some new games to look forward to. Old IPs were revisited in Animal Crossing and Wii Sports. We have family-friendly fun with Wii Music, a game that takes music games to a whole new level.
Sure, where were the core gamers? They were in these two, summed up sentences after the jump:

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

Dash Rendar, Prince Xizor, the Battle of Hoth, and one of the boldest Star Wars multimedia projects ever made. Here’s why Shadows of the Empire still matters.
This game along with Rogue Squadron got me into to Star Wars. The release of special edition VHS Star Wars collection was perfectly times on top of all that. 😆
But it wasn't. Although I do agree that some of the tie-in media, like the novels and comics, were pretty good.
Still, games like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, and the space sims were peak 90s Star Wars. Shadows fell flat because of the abysmal controls and unimaginative levels. And if you wanted to really experience the seedy side of the universe, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 was peak, and it wasn't even close.
Regardless, and much to my dismay, we got the better version thanks to Ubislop in Outlaws, which is what Shadows should've been, albeit at a smaller scale.

Debuting in Season 9, all players can try a beta of The Crew Motorfest’s new ambitious track creator, TrackForge.
But come on take some risks, I am sick of them playing it safe. I guess you could say GTA DS is a step in the right direction but I would like to see something hardcore come out of Nintendo not third parties.
G4 interviewed Reggie after the conference and said what about the core gamer? Reggie said, what do you mean we announced Animal Crossing and GTA for the DS. I'm surprised he was able to say that with a straight face.
Will 3rd parties jump on the motion plus? It means consumers have to buy the dongle first before they can play your game. Either they create games that can fall back to the dongleless controller or they won't create games specificially for the motion plus. It's hard enough for 3rd parties to sell Wii software, further segregating people won't help.
Nintendo never liked gamers however, they always loved the Sega Genesis's exhaust fumes!
am i the only one that noticed they gloated about the fact they have more shovel ware games than anyone else.
"we have 19 games that sold more than 400k copies and have more games than any other console"
well both the ps3 and 360 have a ton of games that sell in the millions so their ratio of popular games vs total games is way better than nintendo... they were proud of the fact that almost all wii games suck.
it probably woulda been better had they not shown up at e3. basically the same thing.
