Also doesn't help when stores only carry 4-5 at a time, and none are in-store. They can't take in more stock and it blows hard.

XisThatKid4073d ago

Yea all they have to do is stop withholding stock to make them rare and more interesting by creating demand.

pcz4073d ago

maybe if they focused more on making video games and less on childrens toys, we would have zelda wiiu this year?

Neonridr4073d ago

pretty sure it's a completely separate department making these games. I would rather them not rush Zelda on the Wii U.

Is it ok that ND has pushed back Uncharted to 2016 because you are biased to Sony studios? Or would you rather them rush that game too?

themonado4073d ago (Edited 4073d ago )

@pcz Do you honestly think they have Aonuma and all the other people who work on Zelda making these things instead of working on the game? Is that what you're trying to get at?

Xof4072d ago (Edited 4072d ago )

To the average person Nintendo is a small, indie team of about a half-dozen people based out of Aonuma's garage. In Seattle.

Those aren't just Amiibos, those are hand-crafted artisanal Amiibos.

pcz4073d ago

firstly, i dont care one bit what sony or microsoft are doing. i know nothing about the new uncharted.

nintendo could be using those resources blown on amiibo to employ more staff on zelda wiiu.

amiibo are literally good for nothing. sure they make the company money, but im also sure given the choice between a Marth amiibo and zelda wiiu, most people would prefer nintendo make zelda wiiu a priority.

Chevalier4073d ago

It's big money though if they release them in good quantities. Just look at Skylanders they've made over $3 billion in sales. If Nintendo made that kind of money or even a fraction it could easily fund the next 10 Zelda's.

When has Nintendo ever rushed a Zelda game? They always come when they are ready, garnering GOTY nominations and/or awards.

I trust the teams behind the Zelda franchise because they wait until the game is actually ready before releasing.

I have enough Wii U games and PS4 games in my library and upcoming to be bothered that I won't have Zelda to play this holiday season.

Sure it's always nice for a game to release sooner than later, but not at the expense of the quality.

Amiibos are basically right up there with Skylanders and Disney Infinity. While they don't have their own game yet, so-to-speak, they are used in an almost identical way. And they generate tons of money for Nintendo so you can't fault them for pursuing it. If they had zero value, then people wouldn't be collecting them and buying them up in droves. Obviously there are people out there who see a value in them.

deafdani4073d ago

I'm pretty sure the team developing the new Zelda must be very large already. There comes a point in development where you can't just throw more people in to speed said development. It doesn't work like that.

N4g_null4072d ago

Pcz you would make a horrible business man. Actually I would rather have the marth amiibo. I have the zelda one. It's weird how you can have a prefference and still hate some thing LOL.

They are not a priority and nintendo doesn't make them some one else does. I'd love for nintendo to make newer versions of the same amiibo, which is what they will do. So you just wait. If the bubble doesn't pop then we just get cooler looking ones later. Also I would opt for the cards actually if it means game functionality.

Neonridr4072d ago

@scissor - he said would you rather have the Marth Amiibo or Zelda Wii U. Not the Zelda amiibo. :P

I had to read that twice to understand what he said.

I would love it if they did direct sales and where you can preorder from them even if wait times are longer at least you can lock down that character you "mained" with this gen. We can also use more official nintendo stores also they should make the retailer specific ones more plentiful! Less marios please! Dont mind me its just that little mac amiibo : ( too quick man.

GordonKnight4073d ago

It's a hard to collect Ammibos.

My best advice is purchase two of every Amiibo you can when released. Then you can trade other Amiibo collects.

I trade Little Mac for Shulk
I trade Rosalina for Meta Knight
I trade Captain Flacon for Lucario

that is the easiest way to side bar the scalpers.

Blank4073d ago

I have been doing that buying multiples to trade but even then im not one of the fast ones like for this upcoming wave i couldnt even lock down a charizard which is bound to be common but I have no peace of mind thats its lovked down but thanks for the sound advice anyways : )

Kidmyst4073d ago

Same issue with Pre-order bonuses for games and various retailers. Should be the same across the board, retailrs can add on incentives like reward points for buying from them instead.

addictedtochaos4073d ago

Make more and no more retailer exclusives, let me buy them all at one store.

lizard812884073d ago

Agree. I haven't seen any exclusive amiibo in their said stores. I'd rather not hop on amazon and pay like $50 for a Ness amiibo with +$20 in shipping.

Nintendo's new approach to amiibo: expensive premium figurines

NE: "Nowadays, amiibo cost more than ever, and they don't offer many more in-game bonuses than before. Should Nintendo switch to cards instead?"

Everything Nintendo doesis expensive these days. This company loves to gouge pockets. What’s sad, people willing to pay for it.

Neonridr85d ago

I used to collect amiibos, especially the Smash Brothers ones. Ended up with nearly 100 of them. Eventually sold them all to a collector. I pick and choose which Amiibos to purchase nowadays, but usually it's the Zelda ones.

And as usual you don’t find the iron man dude to comment on such news 😆

Nintendo gets away with murder when it comes to its game prices . They're still selling some of their last gen games for full price.

CrimsonWing69112d ago

Not just full price, but $80 when last gen it was $60… and $70… which, don’t get me started on that.

£74.99 ($100) Switch 2 games didn't last long in the UK and games on key cards are annoying. Amiibo has been problematic from the start, prices a bit high, then the scalpers get hold of them, not forgetting stupid regional exclusives. On top of that, the content you get is fairly poor, then you have a figure gathering dust. For us poor gamers (me), Nintendo should've released Amiibo without the figures, just the bases showing who was who. I paid into a few of them during the Wii U era, but not Switch. With all of this, why would Nintendo be bothered?
