What Could Save Nintendo's E3?

With Zelda Wii U delayed and not making an E3 appearance, what can Nintendo do to fill the void?

Jdoki4066d ago

Save? I didn't realise it was endangered!

Their digital events the last couple of years have been fantastic. I hope they keep the same formula.

The loss of Zelda this year is annoying, but I'm looking forward to Star Fox and Xenoblade this year. Splatoon looks fun. Hell, even a 3rd / 4th pack of DLC for Mario Kart 8 would be awesome compared to the rubbish trotted out by some other publishers.

MSBAUSTX4066d ago

Maybe a hint or announcement of a new Metroid game even? A lot more Devil's Third gameplay footage as well? More information on the new mobile platform introduced and I have a feeling there might be something Mario in the making. It is his 30th anniversary after all and a HUGE Mario game announcement from nowhere after over 2 years since 3D World released wouldn't surprise me either.

Either way we are getting Star Fox, Splatoon, Yoshi's Wooly World, Xenoblade X, Rodea Sky Soldier, HD remake of Kay, now Fatal Frame, Mario Maker, Project: Giant Robot, Mighty No 9, and Devil's Third this year. That isn't including the games that may be revealed for release this Christmas season at this year's E3. Plus the DLC for Smash Bros, more for Mario Kart 8, and the tons of DLC for Hyrule Warriors I haven't finished yet.

I believe 2015 will be taken care of just fine for us Ninty fans.

What if they announced a new Mother game for release this holiday season?

chrismichaels044066d ago (Edited 4066d ago )

Nintendo doesnt need saving. All Nintendo needs to do at E3 is the same thing Sony and Microsoft need to do....show off some new games.

JuleyJules4066d ago

There are lot of things they could announce but the DLC for Mario Kart keeps me going back to it. Maybe they can create some based around characters that are popular in the SSB voting that's going on now. Some of the ones that don't end up in SSB could be put into MK instead so that we get to play as those characters somewhere or maybe they'd be in both. Endless possibilities for what they can show at E3 - Mario will no doubt be in somewhere with it being the 30th anniversary. I'm sure Mario Maker is just one idea they have - perhaps Mario Galaxy 3 or Mario Sunshine HD?

Save?

Nintendo has by far the best E3 last year.

Even Sony & Microsoft acknowledged what Nintendo did differently last year.

It was a HUGE success.

If you think it needs saving, you are not a smart human.

Big_Game_Hunters4066d ago

It does need saving though, without Zelda the only new title they have left to show is starfox, that just isn't enough, at least for me. I need an announcement near the scale of ZELDA to make up for it. Something like metroid, last story 2, maybe another platinum game or console fire emblem. Somthing like that.

Bring Ravi the drummer from Nintendos E3 2008.

gamingpro4066d ago

Nintendo will win again like they did last year. There is just no competition when it comes to games.

Brag about sales all you want but when it comes to actual quality gaming, Nintendo hold them bragging rights.

MSBAUSTX4066d ago

I agree. Just look back at the actual games made by Nintendo for the GC, Wii, and soon to be Wii U and they hold their value more than any other franchise in gaming right now. Don't believe me? Look up Super Mario Sunshine for GC on amazon or ebay right now. It is selling for more than when it was new. Wii games Mario galaxy and Mario galaxy 2 are still 25 or 30 bucks. This system has the same quality of exclusives as the last two Nintendo systems and a few years from now I will be getting 50 to 60 bucks for a lot of these exclusives I have in my collection.

WHY? Quality my friend.

InTheLab4066d ago

Yeah and what will you be doing while the rest of us are playing Mortal Kombat, Batman, and the Witcher 3 here over the next few months?

Oh....Splatoon and Kart dlc. You can't ride the success of a handfull of games all year long...

DryBoneKoopa854066d ago

Umm we will have Yoshi's Whoolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Smash Bros DLC, Mario Kart 8 DLC, Indie games, Virtual Console games like Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Paper Mario 64, and whatever else Nintendo decide to drop within the next few months.

Then Nintendo's heavy hitters come in.

Mario Maker
Devils Third
Star Fox
Fatal Frame 5
plus whatever Nintendo decides to drop at E3 this year.

InTheLab4066d ago (Edited 4066d ago )

Yes I'm aware that you have those games but what do you have prior to E3? Splatoon and Yoshi. The three games I listed are set to launch in the next few months. I was responding to the guy that says it's all about the games and without Zelda leading the charge, it's going to be a pathetic year for Nintendo without the various multiplats launching this year.

And Virtual console N64 games? Really?

Mario Maker is a heavy hitter? Seriously?

N4g_null4066d ago (Edited 4066d ago )

Dude we have zelda after E3 LOL. I'll be playing the new 3d SF5 on PC anyway.

Seriously You want nintendo to have a problem but I have a serious back log of games to play and beat. E3 will be fine. We got tons of games we want to play while you just listed like 3 really?

almost all of their studios are working on new projects.I'm not concerned I'm not sold on mortal kombat or batman... the witcher i'll take a look at but truthfully i'll be play xenoblade which is probably bigger than all of those games together. Heck I still have to finish the last one! Also that DLC for MK and splatoon should be good. I still havn't sat down with hyrule or beat DK yet. Heck I still need to play more smash also. Heck I still got some monster hunter to play also. Plus I want to beat the wiiu ninja gaiden, love how they fixed it. I'm actually looking at the yoshi game too. It's looking good game play wise.

Yet I have a ton of work to do... We all know you will beat all of the games you listed in two week due to them lacking replay value, then what are you going to do?

Jdoki4065d ago

@IntheLab

You make it sound like we're only allowed to own one console.

You know what I'll be doing while I wait for Zelda and post-E3 games...

...Playing The Witcher 3 and Batman on PC (no interest in Mortal Kombat) AND finishing Bloodborne, AND playing MK8 DLC, Splatoon and hopefully Xenoblade on WiiU (while I have just started Xenoblade on New 3DS)

Win win win for me!

InTheLab4065d ago

You all are missing the point. The WiiU is incomplete. You NEED a PC, X1, and PS4. It is the very reason why the console is failing and why this thread exists.

Yes you have a handful of titles but your list of games pales in comparison to more complete consoles.

And the fact that 2 of you agree with Scissor runner only proves the point that none of you truly read what's being said here. You're train of thought goes as follows.

Says something nice about the WiiU = agree
Says something bad about the Wiiu = disagree
Says the truth about the state of NIntendo = disagree

The guy's first line was how you get Zelda after E3 when it's been delayed until 2016... /facepalm.

To summarize my points here for those that hate reading...

*2 games of varying quility over the next few months versus 2 potential GoTY contenders and MK
*I'm specifically talking about the WiiU, not WiiU + some other platform like PC
*the WiiU isn't selling because it has very few games outside of a handful of Niche titles and Nintendo's legacy franchises which have already come and gone.

E3 for me will be all about Devil's Third!!! I'm optimistic about seeing Animal Crossing Wii U in some form. After that it's all gravy!!!! That is unless Retro studio's announce Diddy Kong Racing 2 lol!!!! Diddy Kong Racing was visually ground breaking on the N64 but the music... wow incredible!!!!!

Best 2D, Mario World, best 3D, Mario 64. Can't say there's been a bad one, although Mario World 2 wasn't a true sequel. The Mario Land games were good (not the first one) and also Wario Land. I thought after Mario 64, Mario 3D World was excellent.
